  • In this video I go over what laser machine I use (150w Reci Laser Tube & Ruida Controller), water chiller, air compressor, lightburn and doing a test engraving. I also show some projects to show you what the laser can do.

    How do you like the autofocus working with leather? Do you use it often?

    Hey man, I have a very similar laser also 150w but I am having huge problems with smoke. I see that you connected laser exaust to the top and you have air input on the bottom? I also have two openings and the support told me to attach both to ventilation instead of running one as an air input to increase circulation. Can you help me with this a little? Thanks

      Hi thanks for your question. Sorry but I'm not sure what you mean by having two openings but, what I have setup is a AC Infinity Inline Fan. It is a very strong fan that does well. I attached tubes at both ends of the inline fan. The input tube will be connected to the ventilation hole on the laser(sucking the air) and the output will be connected to a window(blowing the air out). It is important to have a strong enough fan to suck all the air out or smoke will escape. Another thing, is to have good quality air ventilation tubes. The aluminum ones that are shown in the video at 1:20 got holes in them if they were bent the wrong way and smoke would escape.
      In summary,
      laser machine->input tube->ac infinity fan->output tube to window
      that's my setup. Good luck and hopes this helps!

      @@alisforgediy Hi Ali, thanks for the reply. What I meant was that I have one opening for ventilation below the table and other opening for ventilation from the top of the table. Both should be connected to the fan and one out, but it seems the fan is not enough. Can you say how much CFM does your fan have?

    What’s the thickest steel sheet I can cut? For example a 0.5mm stainless steel.

    • @mortensvendsen4575
      @mortensvendsen4575 ปีที่แล้ว

      No steel on this machine out of the box. You MIGHT be lucky if you add on some oxygen assist, but even then, for metal, 150W is kinda to low.

    Thanks for the video! I am about to purchase a laser now. But I'm not sure if I should order a 100w, 130w or a 150w. Is there any downsides of having a 150w? E.g: Will the engraving quality suffer, but cutting quality will be better etc.? Or is a 150w just as good for both cutting and engraving in plywood, acrylic, mdf etc. as smaller ones?

      Hi, that's a great question. It really depends on what you want to use it for. If you only want to do small projects like engraving, cutting thin materials etc. Then you can save some money and get a lower wattage like 100w. You can also save up space as lower wattages have smaller bed sizes. If you are looking to start small but then expand your hobby like I did, then I recommend getting the higher power wattage. There aren't any disadvantages to getting a high watt except that the CO2 tube will be bigger resulting in a bigger bed size or have it sticking out at the end like mine. Also, replacing the tube will be more expensive depending on the wattage. With a 150w, engraving and cutting are both good. For me, I felt like it was better to do one good investment with the 150w and not regret later. Thanks! Hope this helps and good luck with your laser :)

      The higher watt you go, the bigger the beam hitting your material will be. Probably not something the eye will see, but if you engrave high detailed pictures, 150W would not be the best choice. The most beautiful, high detalied DIY picture engravings are made on no higher than 10W diode lasers and not a CO2. A 40W CO2 do an ok job as well, I have yet to try higher, but do a little research. Im now between getting a 100W and a 130W. I like the larger bed on the 130W, but im afraid to loose to much detail.
      But saying "There aren't any disadvantages to getting a high watt" is a false statement. :)

    • @alisforgediy

      It is a custom made laser from China. I didn’t put what model it is because it doesn’t really have a brand. What matters most is the controller and laser tube :) Hope this helps

      Yes it was a custom order from Alibaba. There are many sellers on Alibaba but you just need to look for the best price and good reviews. The air exhaust, laser light indicator and camera was customized locally.
