For moving the machine I recommend removing it from the stand, standing it on the flat end, and strapping it to a 2-wheel hand truck made for moving appliances or freight. Hand trucks with an 800 lb. load limit can be purchased or rented from Lowe's or Home Depot. These devices will save your back and make moving the machine up or down stairways much easier. FYI - Using hand trucks with a lighter load rating may result in damage. I bent the axle on one rated at 600 lbs. and ruined the axle bearings. The cabinet I being moved was only supposed to weigh 580 lbs., so either the weight was heavier than the manufacturer claimed or the hand truck couldn't deliver on its rated capacity.

I am struggling to get my new OmTech 100W unit going in my classroom. I got as far as the 5200 water chiller hooked up , computer is hooked up, electric good, bed is set up. I try and print the omtech color thing and the machine does its thing but no laser. Yes the key is turned on for the laser.
Hi Ryan... Great information on the OMTech... ( Your videos have me ready to buy one) Hoping you answer a few questions or steer me to which videos of yours to watch.... I own a GlowForge Plus (Laser for Dummies) For the most part, its works fine for what i do (Engraving, Cutting 1/8" and 1/4" Baltic Birch Wood and some Acrylic) (Logos and Signs) The negatives I have about GlowForge is that doesn't cut 1/4" great and Tech Support is the worst company I ever dealt with... The Positive is Super Easy to use... My Questions: I use Inkscape currently to make SVG Files and print to GlowFordge... You mention Light Burn in your videos... 1. How much different and harder will that be to use (I'm assuming it's not like Glowforge where I simply go into the Glowforge program and download my file for print...) 2. Does Light Burn take the place of the Glowforge file for printing to the Laser? 3. Thinking the 80 W fits my budget... Sounds like that's stronger than my Glowforge so I'm assuming it will cut 1/4" wood with not issues. I'm going to watch all your videos in the next few days... and use your code you I get and discount and assume you get a credit... Looking forward to your reply... Thanks, Frank
Thanks for the video! Mine arrives tomorrow! Appreciate the tip about getting it through the door! Super curious to hear your thoughts about using destilled water and any additives for cooling.
Yes, use distilled water in your chiller. I’ve personally never used any additives. Believe your region can impact the water quality. I’m in a desert region with low humidity.
I just bought the 80w 2028. I will be using mine in the outside garage which will be hot in the summer and freezing cold during the winter. I was wondering about storage during the winter, will I need to unhook stuff while not in use during the winter. I’d appreciate some advice for a beginner. Thank you for your answers in advance.

Awesome videos! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise. You've helped me get off the fence and now I'm ready to pull the trigger and buy! I will be using the link you provided when I make my purchases. Quick question: Are there any problems with keeping the 60w laser in a HOT garage in Sacramento where temperatures get into triple digits in the summer?
It may not be everything I want to know about omtech, but it is a very significant factor that I contacted them several days ago with some pre-purchase questions and I have not heard a peep in reply. If they can't be bothered to contact me before I've made a purchase, what hope do I have for customer support AFTER they already have my money? Notably, 3plasers, a China-based competitor responded within a few hours to my questions about their fiber lasers. That does not mean I'm necessarily going to make a purchase from them, but responsiveness does play a role in my decision.
Literally just got off chat with Omtech asking if stand could be removed on this machine to get thru door and reps response was "no it can't"?? Glad I found your video but concerned that ability to remove stand has changed in 11 months.
the 60-100w units, that look like mine, do indeed have a stand that can easily be removed. However the larger units are an all in one unit and most people won't be putting that size unit inside a home office space. In fairness they do have a million models and the rep easily could have been confused, not an excuse but it happens :)
Great video, thank you. Would the 60w machine be okay with engraving brick, like for fundraising etc. This would be personal not commercial so time isn't an issue... again thanks.
Do you have any videos on a dual cutter model. I bought one and the second head was loose upon arrival and I can't find any info on the correct distance between the heads.
Depends on where you have it housed. I have mine in a temp controlled workshop. During the colder months, you can pickup like a 100w Fish Aquarium Heater and keep that inside your chiller to keep it from freezing. Some have had success with some type of Anti Freeze, but I prefer to avoid those.
Most these lasers are imported over seas and most are produced in similar factories with similar specs. Companies will import these machines in and create a new brand and it's up the each owner to figure out where they need to be with profit margins. Marketing Dollars doesn't make a better machine. These all use very similar components and most can be fixed, repaired or replaced and you are not locked into some proprietary system like a Glowforge.
PREENIX is the company that makes most laser tubes. Google the specs you need and find a supplier or go to OMTECH site and use my code and get 5% off on a replacement tube RNGPRODUCTS5OFF
Interested in using Piburn rotary for tumbler/bowls with 60w2028 CO2...can you advise that this is doable with honeycomb and knife removed. Can you approximate what circumference is doable with rotary. Appreciate your time and information in videos.
Yes, piburn can work with both the AF and the MF units. It's easier to setup on the MF over the AF but very marginal. Go with the unit that best suits your needs. You want to know what the Z clearance height is for the max circumference you can laser on a rotary. Off the top of my head I believe you have 9" z depth. So yes, either unit will work and that rotary is the best you can buy and wont mess up expensive YETI and STANLEY tumblers that adds up when you pay for mistakes.
This is a very hard question to answer without additional information. You should pick a laser unit based on the products your currently make or intend to make. With a bigger bed size you can cut large and small projects. With a smaller bed size you are limited to smaller projects, or will have to use the pass through doors. If space and budget is not a concern buy the largest cutting area you can afford. The MF vs the AF really comes down to 2 things. How many times a day are you changing out material in drastic differences? Personally I like the MF as most of the material you place on the laser doesn't sit totally flat so you can focus much easier. It's one less component to fail as well. If you want to use a rotary attachment, the MF is easier to setup as you have more Z height. The AG requires you to remove the honey comb to use the tumbler. Both units are great. Really sounds like bed size or rotary attachment would help you decide.
What max Size of sheets can I load inside this machine with the honeycomb it says 20” X 28” WORKING AREA but also says 19.5” x 27.5” (500 x 700mm) engraving/cutting area just wondering what size of sheet I can actually load in for a snug fit while using the honeycomb? Thanks again for those measurements with the bottom stand removed I messaged support but no response nothing worse then being unsure if you can fit it past a door in the basement. One more question is this machine upgradable say if in the future i wanted to put a 100W Laser tube in would it be possible just to buy the new lasertube and a stronger power supply on the website?
Correct, usable area is 20x28, however the overall bed size is a few inches larger on each axis. I would have to measure next time I am outside. Don't forget they have pass through doors, so if you setup a large project with registration marks you can cut or engrave very long pieces as well. I know the 60w can be upgraded to the 80w - you need a 80w tube, new power supply and the kit that has the cover for the 80w tube as it's longer. Believe you can go from 80w to 100w same way, but don't quote me on that one.
Well, I just got a sour taste in my mouth, after trying to contact someone at OMTech about some pre-sales questions. Receptionist was very direct and to the point. She said, " YOU HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT" to talk with someone in sales? WTH ? The next available date was mid-week next week. I was like 85 % sure I wanted one their products. Now that slipped to 10%. I mean, what if I needed Tech Support? What about warranty support? Would I have to give up my first born child? Going to look at ThunderLaser. I've seen them run. I've talked to their tech support. Very easy going and obliging folks at TL. Prices are a bit higher, but I don't like the idea that I may get lost in some type of Phone Relay for problems, when I can't even get a couple of questions answered pre-sales. Sheeeeeeeesh
Sorry to hear you were able to directly speak with someone in the sales department. Unfortunately I don't personally work for OMTech I am just a brand ambassador. Right out the gate anytime you deal with a smaller company who is importing machines the customer service is expected to be a weak leak. No add in Covid and all the layoff's on top of the supply chain issues and it's a recipe for disaster. Thunder laser makes a great product as well. Their 60watt laser is retail priced at 7400 (Almost Double the OMTech) not to mention the bed size is only 23x15 where the OMTech 60watt is 2028 - IMO you are paying double the price for better customer service. If that's the most important factor to a consumer and they have the funds I can understand that. OMTech has multiplel forums online with thousands of experienced uses and some forums have a direct contact with OMT if you have issues. So far I have been running my 60w machine everyday without issues. I own multiple CNC machines that cost me over 20k each and when I need customer support it takes a day or 2 to call me back. I hate it, but it's the best machine for CNC routing in my price range.
@@RISENGRINDWORKSHOP Hello RGW... Your spot on about the pricing and such. I actually told my boss, that TL was only the fist mfg that I looked at for him, and to let me look over others, but he wanted/needed it now... I've come to expect hardly no customer service now a days. It wasn't always that way... I'm an OG. ;) I'm in the I.T. world, and that's the first thing I look at when deciding on new servers and such. Customer Support without going through hoops. After all. It's the companies money. I'll probably buy a OMtech machine anyway. Do I need a laser engraver/cutter? No. Do I want to get into the field? Yes. I got a chance to meet for a couple of hours with an owner of their machines Saturday at his shop. I'm a bit more at ease now in my mind. When the boss received his ThunderLaser it arrived damaged. The hood and honeycomb grid. All due to someone not thinking too bright when they crated it. It happens. I was kind of amazed that he received phone calls from Sales, and Tech support the same day after he sent pics. I know he was quite relived after speaking to them, and they're shipping out replacement parts. I guess I was kind of putting myself in his position, but me owning an OMtech machine. It comes in damaged, and I have to wait and schedule phone calls? That's not a good place to be in. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but maybe this week. It's all good. Just caught be with my pants down. BTW, I've watched almost all of your vid's. Thanks for taking the time to do so.

The 60watt unit is only available in the Blue and Gray and the 80 Watt Units come in both the RED and the BLUE - Major difference is the Manual Focus vs the Auto Focus. Also one has a stand and the other doesn't. They both have the same size bed. Depends on if you want the Auto Focus I think it also has a auto Z bed height. You won't get that with the MF

I thought the 60 & 80 had the same overall dimensions
@@pfiltz unfortunate lasers will always need tweaking. 3k or 300k it’s just the nature of the beast. If OMTech didn’t have such good forums on FB I could see people really avoiding them. I’m with you 100! I’m a business owner and communication is everything to me. But sometimes I’ve made exceptions like with this OMTech and Avid. I like my OMTech enough to be a brand ambassador. If you want 5% discount. Make sure you follow the link in my description here. You’ll get 5% off. My machine cam from Ontario CA and I have a fiber laser. Both arrived usable out of the box zero issues. Email me if you have any other questions. Rngproductsllc@gmail.com
The affiliate code may help you but how does it help the buyer?
Like I mentioned in the video the affiliate code gives me a small kickback when someone purchases a machine. It's the same retail price whether you use my code RNGPRODUCTS or not. So if you sat and watched my video and gained some knowledge why not give back and help me out? I make these long detailed videos to help others who were in the same postion as me a few months ago when trying to decide what laser engraver is correct for me. Thanks for the comment and watching.
5% off
Simple question
Are you still happy with this unit?
I’m in the market and confused as crap on what to buy!
I’m leaning towards the co2 vs diode.
Great video by the way 👍
Always CO2. Will always be able to do much more, and much faster, than diodes.
@@got_logic1320
Definitely going with the CO2
Pulled the trigger on a Mira 9
Few weeks ago.
Now playing the waiting game on delivery 🤨
@@rcamoonpie648 nice! Enjoy!
Wasn't able to get the 5% discount. I was ready to pull the trigger tonight....
Thanks for letting me know. I just checked my affiliate links and you are correct. No 5% discount is being applied currently. Please e-mail me at rngproductsllc@gmail.com if you want your 5% discount. I have reached out to OMTech and they can manually take your order and make sure you are given the discount. Again thanks for the heads up! 🍻
Ok so I am seriously considering purchasing a laser from OmTech. I really only want to engrave some wood stuff, BUT I have 1 project I want to do that can be done on another laser machine but don’t know if it can be done on an OMTech
Feel free to shoot me an e-mail at rngproductsllc@gmail.com and I can help you decide whether the OMT would be a good investment or not. NO BS from me, just facts!
Can you help me decide if omtech can do my project?
@@livinginhoustontx5671 Of Course. Shoot me an email rngproductsllc@gmail.com
Never heard from you?
@@RISENGRINDWORKSHOP I tried TikTok, but it wouldn’t let me send you a message. I am going to shoot you an email now
Do you know the difference in the red and blue models? I can't seem to get any info from OmTech.
Are the other parts coming out?
Currently filming them now. Feel free to drop any questions in the meantime. 5% using my code as well :)
Still waiting too he has answered a week or so multiple times in the past... I'm not having a good feeling on it
how hard is learn the software?
Very simple. Lightburn is what we use. They have a free trial. Lots of how to videos and tutorials here on YT
part 2?
Currently filming part 2 feel free to email me with questions. Rngproductsllc@gmail.com
For the past 4 to 5 months people have been asking for part 2... Guess that's a scam to get subscribers?!?
I am sorry that my timeline for making these FREE videos didn't meet your expectations. Trying to raise a 3 year son and run a full time business on top of making FREE videos for people to LEARN from really isn't that easy. But thanks for being ass!
This video is very helpful!
best review thanks
Thanks so much for your valuable information, that helped me to figure it out which machine is best for me. By the way I tried to use your code but keep saying was not available, maybe because I am in Canada,
Appreciate the comment. Good question. I’ll have to ask OMT why it wouldn’t work for Canada. Either way. Welcome to the fun club! Reach out if you need any help!
Also from Canada. Thanks for posting such great videos.
Carla, what machine did you end up buying and what were the duties? I have a GF, but looking to upgrade.
Thanks

I’ve been waiting on my machine since December 5th, 2023 and it’s January 31st, 2024. No machine.

Unreliable power settings. The OMTECH CO2 laser's power adjustments are inconsistent, making it challenging to achieve the desired results
That makes no sense, but ok. Still works perfect over 2 years and on all original parts.

the 'ding' is annoying.
Geezus.... really pisses me off when the music sound track is 10 times louder than the video. Do something about that in the future.
