Excellent review as always Tyler. Ive owned several Audis over the years both in and out of warranty. I am now a Lexus owner and its fair to say I don't think I will be coming back. But It's not simply because Audis generally have horrendous reliability as they age. This is not uncommon with any german luxury brand. I think its more about what you prioritize. As I've gotten older, that has changed for me. I believe Audis are great for people who are into short term ownership, view luxury as the newest looking and/or most aesthetically pleasing features inside and out, and enjoy brand prestige with evolutionary rather than revolutionary styling. Whereas Lexus is more for people who view luxury as having solid features in a car that they will enjoy for many years to come, styling that makes you appreciate emphasis of form over function, and depending on the trim, driving enjoyment. Either way both groups of people win IMO.
I like Audi but as an overall car I will go for the Lexus.Design is subjective but again I believe that Lexus is more nicer and is also without problems compared with Audi on a long run.Lexus Hybrid and plug-in hybrid for a more dynamic and quality/price is an easy pick.

That portion is at the end. When I say “build quality” I am referring to how well it is built from a tangible sense (doors, controls, panel fitment, construction, etc.). Obviously the Lexus takes the cake if reliability is your primary concern (it’s why I would personally buy one over the Q5), but the lexus does have several shortcomings as a luxury car that I highlight in this video.

Lots of overselling on the quality of the Audi. No doubt it drives well and likely more sporty than the NX but the quality and reliability isn’t close as the review suggests.
It’s not a Rolls or an S class, but the difference when you have them back to back is substantial. I still chose the NX for the reliability aspect but no doubt, the Q5 feels more like thoroughbred luxury.
Time will tell if the 2025 refresh of the Q5 will address any tech shortcomings compared to the NX but its likely not to meet the Lexus on price, resale or reliability. Q5 will be the perfect care to lease while the NX is for the long term buyer.

The last Audi I will ever own. The communication with Audi HQ was efficient, but yielded the typical corporate response. Thanks for your last 25 years of loyalty, but unable to offer me any remuneration towards another vehicle. Good bye Audi! Hello Honda!
Rofl saying goodbye to Audi then Hello to Honda......Honda engines literally leaks oil and has a whole issue with their earth dream garbage that stil is an ongoing problem Honda has ignored.
“Maintenance was done regularly by a non dealer” well theres your problem
I have a 2015 Audi Q5 WITH 118,000 miles , when I had a maintenance on 102, 000, it was very good condition according to dealer 's report. It has been regularly maintained and I used Premium gas as recommended. All of sudden, my car is machinic failure condition now. Audi says the Q5 has a bad engine valve on cylinder#2 and will need the new engine replaced .....It cost me $16,000 .... Should I buy new audi 2024? or should I buy Lexus ? Thank you
Audi is the best German Luxury brand if you just want a good, smooth, sporty car that doesn’t make people assume negative things about you. Sure, it’s more expensive, needs more service and may not last as long as a Toyota (And I’m kinda tired of the “buy a Toyota” people on the internet), but having owned many reliable cars in my lifetime, even new Toyota and Honda products, I always envy my Friends A5. It’s worlds ahead of everything else I’ve driven or been in. I really want one of these cars.
why did he not buil the q5 well
Lots of overselling on the quality of the Audi.
That depends. Audi requires upkeep but thats expected of any luxury vehicle.
I'd would prefer the q5 but I've had one as a loaner. it's cheap feeling inside and the engine is buzzy. You really need a sq5 or just buy a x3
Time will tell if the 2025 refresh of the Q5 will address any tech shortcomings compared to the NX but its likely not to meet the Lexus on price, resale or reliability. Q5 will be the perfect care to lease while the NX is for the long term buyer.
" Adaptive Suspension " Not Lexus NX strong spot..........R U Freak'n kidding, the suspension tightens in curves and is Much Smoother on FWY's riding better than any of the Euro's coupled with the change to Michelin's tires ...(dump the DOG RUN FLATS) and you are Golden!
Your reviews are really good, keep it up. I do think that Lexus needs to invest in making a luxury car platform instead of tarting up Toyotas.
Well Lexus is not luxury now. They’re probably going to be discontinued considering how lackluster Lexus really is
@@naveenthemachine aren’t u the karate kid who spends his entire life insulting Lexus on social media?
@@pan4632 gee only now you figured that out😂
LEXUS 👌😎👍 THE FIRST CLASS QUALITY
As an owner of a 2017 GX 460, I too prefer the Q5 by far. I've had the NX as a rental three times, now. I hate it! The massive screen is ridiculous to operate (music) and driving it feels unsatisfying. My inlaws have a new Q5 (the 45tsfi) and it's so fun to drive and the cabin layout is far superior to the NX. Great review!
I am deciding between the NX35H and the Q5 now. How are the inlaws' Q5 doing as far as maintenance and reliability? That is my concern at this stage. Are they happy with their purchase?
The Audi will plummet in value and will likely be a money pit at 100K...the Lexus will likely hold up better...but the Audi does look like a more enjoyable ride.
Just get the Audi. The nx is not a luxury car
@@naveenthemachine HOWEVER ...Much more Luxury than the AUDI and my 450h+ " F " S is much faster and better handling with Adaptive Suspension MUCH faster and I do Not even use gas but rather Plug in to 120 and get 49 miles per charge.....My NX uses Regular gas and 89 eMPG ...however I NEVR buy gas!...........Doi your research and GET LEXUS.....Never buy Euros............LEXUS Dependability and FAR Superior Re-Sale!
@@donaldbanner2185 faster than Audi? I don’t think so 😂
@@donaldbanner2185the Audi is faster than your hybrid, plus for the price of that you can get the SQ5 which blows absolutely every Lexus SUV out of the water
@@donaldbanner2185 Dude all your comments you are responding to is nothing but a shill. Clearly a troll.
The lexus looks far better than the audi. This gen audi q5 looked plain even when it first came out in 2018
If I would have the money for one of this, I would buy the Lexus because of the good reliability. Audi have not a good reliability in Europe.
Mazdas aren't the only thing in town cool their are but Lexus and Audi's are as well cool.
I will take the Lexus NX 350 AWD over the Audi Q5 anytime, reliable and less expensive to repair
The NX needed to be the same size as the Q5.
Lexus sells you NX450 for a reason lol.
Any practical person knows there’s absolutely no comparison whatsoever.
I’ve played around with those Lexus HUD dependent steering wheel controls. Whoever decided that was a good idea in the engineering department should be fired. They’re horrendous in practice.
Agreed 100 percent, they should re-engineer that with the HUD control or go back to lower trim hard button system.
Thank you
Thank you for watching!
Tyler have you ever done a Camry SE Hybrid?
I think once in a comparison with a RAV4 Hybrid, otherwise, I drove a XLE hybrid
Sounds like a European got butthurt and decided to review his car vs a Japanese high quality build car. Let's not forget your Audi is just a VW as well 😂 Lexus all the way 💪
These aren't my cars, I own a GR Corolla
@Realistick right, im sure they aren't yours. Just the whole video felt that way. Every time you talked about the lexus you brought up toyota. Sure it's a Toyota but then do the same with Audi and call it a VW. Truly disagree with your video but it's my opinion.
@@danielcastorena3057 It’s okay to disagree but that’s not even the opinion I expressed in the video. The audi does not ride on a platform shared with a VW and it shows. I also chose the NX for myself and if you watched the video, you would know why🤓
I love Lexus but you Jdm/japanese car fanboys are truly insufferable. “Japanese high quality build car” tell that to the Nissan i rented that already had a bad ac compressor with less than 3000 miles so called “Japanese high quality”😂

I’m a bigger fan of the Q5😊
Audi don’t hold its value Lexus has a better trade or sale value
Omg! You got something decent
I've been trying to shake things up! However, the initial views are quite dismal, hopefully it picks up eventually.
Fridays are slow as ppl planning their weekends or evening. Monday to Wednesday are good viewership
I have the hybrid Audi hands down the better car don't like Lexus feels like a Toyota
No spare tire? No sale.
Looks are subjective and I can’t never like the Lexus spindle grill. That Lexus interior looks way too much like a modern Toyota interior.
I have the 2024 Q5 Premium Plus S Line PHEV, and it rides way better than the Lexus, and much faster too. Lexus reliability is hands down unbeatable as I’ve never had any problems with my Lexus previously. I never bought an Audi till now, but I just love the ride way better than the Lexus. It just feels more solid, quiet, and luxuriously comfortable.
This guy owns an Audi
If by Audi, you mean GR Corolla, then yes🤠
I love my Q5. Great car to drive. No problems (yet). I'd buy a Lexus but I can't get past the styling. It's subjective, but I find the NX odd looking and ugly.
Not a single word about fuel consumption?

@@Realistick very little infos on the pluses of the Lexus. Im not a fan of either of them, but it seems clear you're focused on promoting the Audi.
@@victorbotea4244 Clear? I chose the Lexus at the end, and justified why I did then and at different points throughout the video. If you think this promotes the Audi, it's because for traditional luxury values, the Q5 is consistently better and this video is not centered only around my preferences as a Toyota owner.
No comparison. I’ve owned Audi since 1998. My brother owns a Lexus SUV. He admitted the Audi Q5 is much, much better.
The lexus is one ugly car
That’s easy
Ones a real luxury car with proper luxury car underpinnings, good performance and handling etc. (Hint… it’s the Audi.)
The other one is not a luxury car since it’s just a dressed up rav4 with lipstick. Combine that with pathetic looks, cheap interior, useless tech, useless back seats, small trunk, pathetic performance, pathetic handling, etc etc etc. (Hint… that’s the Lexus). Sure it has a hybrid but like seriously it’s a luxury car so who cares about fuel economy?
Despite its age the Audi is still better. Even the RDX is better. Because those brands put out much stronger products in this segment. The nx is one of the weakest offerings in the class along side the Infiniti qx50 and qx55
I mostly agree, the Audi is definitively better but I do think the NX has the leg up for people who are flirting with the idea of a luxury suv but are intimidated by the cost!
@@Realistickif someone can’t afford a luxury suv, they shouldn’t even be buying one. If you want the luxury of reliability and or fuel economy, don’t buy a luxury car. Get a Toyota for that.
@@naveenthemachine I see that logic but I think there’s a lot of people that have more than Toyota money but still want to save extra cash. It’s ultimately up to the individual on whether or not they can actually afford either.
Some people just prefer their car to work for them and not other way around. Being in service 24/7 with the car is pain in the ass.
@@mr.kerryn6865 Exagerate much? Audi Q5s are pretty reliable.
