i find it funny that some people comment on these videos saying how it'd just be easier to destroy the lock in some crazy way. of course it would be. no need to get all high on yourself because you thought of that. these videos are about lockpicking as a hobby, not an actual criminal activity. this guy's actually made several videos warning consumers about certain brands and showing how to *prevent* criminals from breaking into things.
Hey the destructive stuff can be fun........usually 1 time per lock. What would be even more fun would be to have all the people who jump straight to the nuke it, drill it, saw it, shoot it, launch it out of a catapult into a pool of acid solutions because it's easier, faster, blah blah blah supply all of the damned locks for demonstration purposes :D It makes you wonder why they don't have their own channels showing everyone the "better" way of doing things. I'm guessing they don't because paying for all those use once and discard locks would be about as fun as a barrel of ass cancer with a side order of perpetual ball ache.
After seeing this, I quickly went to my garage and looked for an OLD AMERICAN 700 Series lock I've had for years!! (I opened it up and removed the inside) its dated RFF (September 99) To my amazement, it had a wafer inside!!
I just did a video on how to mentally decode the American Lock date codes in seconds, easily, without the need for cheat sheets. It's a system I came up with. People seem to be enjoying it in the forums. anyways great video, just got my bypass tool in the mail today!

One of the funnier comments I saw on one of LockPickingLawyer's video where he opens a destroyed Kryptonite lock using a disc detainer pick in 28 seconds sort of fits this comment.. it goes something like "if locksmiths get paid to use an angle grinder then I am a locksmith"

Is this limited to NKR actuators or will this also work with NRK (key retaining)? I know the NKR actuator can be turned (because it has to allow return of key while lock is open) but I would think the NRK actuator would not be vulnerable.
Did you ever make the vid showing how to upgrade/retrofit old American padlocks to be more secure? I have a handfull of keyed-alike 1305's from the 80's I'd like to make a little more useable in today's world.
A: Is American Lock owned by Master Lock now? If they are the brand is doomed anyways. B: I appreciate your level of commitment to making the video and having the proper tools to do so but couldn't this lock be picked or simply cut as an easier solution?
I have a bunch of Master lock pro series #6230 locks that resemble those American locks. I'am curious if those can be opened the same way???.HMMMM gonna give it a try.
I have an old American padlock that is a Series 600. Do those date codes work for it? If they do then it was made in April of 1977. Can't find the key anywhere :(

Thanks for replies. Is the ABUS 83/55-300 worthless with the schlage C cylinder? Can a different cylinder be used in that body? Zero bitter body is cheap. Cylinder seems weak point.
Mr. Bill: I only "play" w/ Standard, Yale, etc., & shim cheap dial locks w/ shims I've made from heavy black paper clip steel & tin snips. (it's surprising the curve in the big paper clips almost matches the curve of the shackle!) I plan to buy proffesional "shims" soon. My REAL question to U is: "R a set of PADLOCK (not auto) {Jigglers} worth spending the money on"? I would buy from a quality dealer to get the best steel, but DO THEY WORK? I have snap gun I've never been able to pop a lock w/.

Anyone knows if the bypass will work for the 5200 model? Ofcourse it has the wafer. But the cam seems the same. So if the wafer breaker was used what’s to keep the bypass from working on the 700 model the 1100 and the 5200? Any info is appreciated
12 years later and I’m still snapping the flags off every brand I’ve tried. My sparrows actually got stuck inside a Abus and I no choice but to break it to get it out. I’m a locksmith and not heavy handed or lacking a light touch. Any idea what I’m doing wrong sir?
Yes but what if you wanted to enter a space more than once and not leave a clue? If the lock is cut,then the owner/someone would know something is amiss and take better precautions. With the wafer already defeated,you could come and go as you wish.

Two problems with this approach and why AL wafer essentially solves the issues. If you are a criminal and you could just bypass the lock that left little or no trace of you entering but beating that breaker tool in is just one step shy of bolt cutters. Sure the lock is still visually intact but any smith would know what happened. Also, what criminal wants to sit there and beat on a lock in a hallway or a back yard in the dark for 5 min with a hammer and a tool, much easier just to cut the lock.
I also admire your defence about repeted re-entry to the location through this by pass method but lets be honest here if they want in that bad they would breech any lock put on the the location and only mutipule layers of security such as cameras and motion sensors would turly solve the problem.
The place I work has a whole bunch of theses installed (keyed alike) Bypass Lock Switch cores (or locks ) Take home Make key Not really realistic but still
I'll tell you why. Those shackles are super thick and I'm 99.9999999% sure made of haredened steel. 1.) They don't make "standard" BOLT cutters that will cut that lock shackle and 2.) 10 guys don't have enough muscle in their asses to cut that schacle. Now, that being said, I HAVE seen "hydraulic" rebar cutters that'll cut 1" diameter in about 15 seconds but, A.) they're noisey and B.) you have a table to work on. Best to plug in a big cut-off 1/2 HP saw & throw sparks everywhere for an hour.
@scrabbytoy1 next time I see one of these I have to remove ill cut it off with my 42" bolt cutters that stay in the van rather than pick it just for you... It's a great lock but not an abloy 362 or something monster like that.

Forget cars. Electronically coded key fobs, built-in GPS trackers, etc. Only the stupidest thieves steal cars. You sound like you're more suited for armed robbery. perhaps even banks. Study up on some of the gun channels so you'll know what to do. Prison reform was just passed today, so you're good to go. Since making this video EIGHT years ago technology has improved and I upgraded to the Sony RX1000V, a$1200 investment. Still, it occasionally screws up and mis-focuses, so while it may be a bit better and record at a higher framerate, life STILL ain't perfect. Also, if someone hears you coming they can start destroying evidence. AKA, flushing the kilos down the toilet. People like Bosian Bill are hired when seconds matter and, there can be no mistakes.
Total junk. Does not work. My lock was made in 1987. No washer inside. Took it apart a dozen times. Ground the sharp corners off the cams. Sharpened the lead edge of the tool. Pushed and twisted and jammed tool to the point of breakage. Won't go in the last 2mm. This is just an infomercial for a tool that doesn't work.
No, its just operator error. I know because for half a day i felt the same way, then i watched him a cpl more times. Went over my hole punching a little more. And was more light handed woth the bypass tool ams it finally wemt in and worked. I did it a bunch of times after that and each time i got the bypass tool swt a little quicker. Dont be so quick to judge, just cause you had issues doesnt mean its automatically junk
Good grief. You better have a bunch of handcuff keys on your person when you do this as it takes so long every cop in the neighborhood will be standing there watching you. This is fine for working in a locksmith shop, but how many criminals are gonna fart around taking all that time to defeat the lock? Answer: none. They will take along a portable Roto Zip with a metal cutting wheel and that shackle will be gone in a matter of seconds. This video may be technically interesting, but it is real world useless. Bottom line is ANY lock can be defeated with the proper tools and equipment.
It's a damn shame you can't buy something without some motherfukers wanting to find ways to rip you off the company that made the original tool to open that lock should be sued and put out of business but then again criminals will always find a way

finishing nails with custom ground tips work sometimes depending on how many wafers or the wafer material used

Master lock bought American lock in 1970.

as an fyi US General (a harbor freight brand) is a copy of the American locks and do not have the wafer to protect the cam

Corbin was doing at least 30 years ago because the same problem with their deadbolts.

How does the Master No. 230 compare to the American 700 series?

Most pucks have the "quarter moon actuator" and are not vulnerable to this bypass.

If chinese puck lock then it is trash 4pin easy pick. If oem Italian or German copy then u are good to go.
