    Great picking job and very interesting lock. Had no idea there are tubular locks that can give you such resistance. Always thought tubular locks were inherently inferior. Subscribed a few days ago and really enjoy your channel. Great to see another locksport TH-camr with great quality content!

      Thanks. There's nothing inherently wrong with tubular locks, assuming that the maker avoids the design flaw that allows them to be impressioned. Some are quite good (see video #85 for a really nice one).

      Thanks. This one was a fight. First open might have been close to 10 minutes!

    As my wife keeps telling me it's all about the delay 😜,I didn't realise until now she knew so much about locks 😅😂😂😂😂

    If a lock is holding you up this long it has to be really good :). Very cool pick and I really like the old American logo and the lock at all :D. Even the old package looks cool. Thank you for sharing, I really appreciate your work :).

    very cool old American I watch the amount of tension you put on the second time around that is unbelievable.the tip of your thumb was turning white lol and wrench i thought was going to go flying.i was thinking here comes the blood lol.THANKS again for sharing the video. 😎😎😎😎🎅

      There was pretty heavy spring tension on the core that I had to fight, which made balancing the tension while picking a bit tricky.

    I have one of these which I used for my bicycle in college in the '70's. It looks like I should hold onto it a while longer. I ran the date code; it was March 1978. All my T-shirts from that era are gone but I've still got the lock and chain.

    Great pick, those tapered key pins are a nightmare. I have a Euro cylinder that I just can't get in to, think I'll break it down and start with a couple of pins and work my way up👍

      @lockpickinglawyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks... I have a couple thoughts on picking tapered pins in Video 99 IIRC. Might be helpful.

    Very nice. If it's as touchy as you say I gotta try it out. Just got a series 10 about 2 weeks ago and still haven't touched it.

    Those are neat, i've got a Harley one and a regular one. They can be a challenge to get back together if you take them apart. Also someone needs to make a long neck tubular tension tool.

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't know there was a Harley version... sounds like a cool lock! I couldn't get this one apart. I think the grease got old and seized things up.

      @technosasquatchfilms 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's on the /r/lockpicking sub. They've got a little pin that is blocked in place a screw, then you'll need to hit the body with a mallet or something. Might need to wiggle the cylinder too.

    After watching this I bought one (new, old stock) on eBay for $35 total, with tax and shipping. I have been looking for a Unican, but they seem even more scarce. I think you praised the Unican in another video.
    P.S. I have to wonder if the Bic pen or plastic straw trick works on these locks.

    If it does not have a date code its likely form the early to mid 70's. The oldest date code I have seen is from around YHI. (feb, 1976)

    I have a couple American series T900. Its a tubular keyway similar to what you picked here. Would it be a challenging pick too?

  • @LockNoob

      American tubular cores are pretty impressive. I've not had much luck impressioning them, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.

      @@lockpickinglawyer There is two key lock on Ebay like to see you pick. The title of the sale is "vintage rare Russian Padlock Lock Opens by Two Keys" so search that. Don't think this lock would be easy at all.

    HI buddy! What is the name of your tubular tension wrench?? I can get the small Mantis in the UK but yours would be better suited??Any ideas gentlemen??

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure if they ship to the UK, but I got this one from USALockPicks.com... also, note that sparrows has a couple of newer tubular lock tension tools that look better than the Mantis. Good luck filling this hole on your pick set!

    • @scottl7644
      @scottl7644 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate. Yes ive found the Sparrows comb bar set with tubular tension wrench on 1 of the bars to which you get 4 of them. So 3-4 tools in 1 package and UKLOCKPICKERS sell the same kit from Sparrows so ill get that one. I would prefer just a simple one like yours so I'm going to ask USALOCK also if they will ship. Thanks once again.

      I like the look of there pro pick kit SJ2 that fits onto a keyring but it looks like my jiggler keys will do the same thing to be honest.

    "American"... this means it's either made in China, or maybe in Mexico.
