      It's always interesting to see your older comments like this from back when you weren't one of TH-cam's most prominent rising stars. Seriously, other big TH-camrs that I watch have begun referencing you. Ymfah, who does excellently edited videos/guides on Elder Scrolls and Souls games, just did a little parody. Anyway, you probably don't have reply notifications enabled these days, but I just wanna say "hey", and "I like what you do."
      On the off-chance that you _do_ happen to see this, The Not So Civil Engineer mentioned that he put this DAMES set on his keytool for EDC. You just came out with the padlock bypass driver, but I was wondering if you had any plans to add an Adams Rite bypass driver to the Covert Companion? I'm ordering my padlock bypass ssf tool today, and I'd order the AR tool as well post haste if you ever released one!
      Have a great weekend

    it made me to think of retrofitting my locks and doors. I have thrown so many junk locks that opens when I inserted my pick without tension tool. Now my feeler gauge .012 and .020 will have a new purpose. Thanks bill

    The best part of your videos is learning how to better protect against security threats. I did not realize how many items give such a false sense of security. Thanks for all you do.

    That tip about holding the shackle down to relieve pressure before trying to pull the locking pall back was a great reminder, I'm bypassing a few of my padlocks much more quickly and reliably now.

    Bypasses are so much fun to look at. How can you determine if your american padlock has the newer security wafers inside? Can you get a date chart somewhere?

    • @kenabi
      @kenabi 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +kekejojo1212 using a flashlight, you can sometimes see the edge of the silver discs at the back of the keyway. new master core based americans don't really have this problem. there was only a few years or so they put the shims in before master bought them out. sadly, there's no hard data i've been able to locate that gives the year range.

    • @JeffreyRosenthal1
      @JeffreyRosenthal1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +kekejojo1212 most locksmiths I know have been putting the wafer in its really trial and error

    Recently received an American 700 as warranty and decided to open it to see what was grinding inside. The steel bypass wafer was in sideways and grinding against the side of the actuator.

    Yet again a very knowledgable video . I can't get enough of them whenever I can find the time . Just got into lock picking out of shear boredom and I love it . Never thought about doing things illegally ( just wasn't the way I was raised) plus pretty much a small time farm boy upbringing . But thank you again for such great wisdom and I love how thorough you are in every video . Don't care if I win wouldn't really want those pics but just would love you reading this in a vid or personally . But again thank you for your wisdom and showing me how to do this FUN stuff 😃

    I already have the Peterson knife and the thin blade. I actually ordered the orange one (thin one) by mistake, and when I got it and saw how thin it was I was a bit lost since it was way to weak to use like the grey one for bypassing locks (blade would bend)... but now I know how to use the thin one too, so thanks bosnianbill for educating a newbie :)

    He Bill, big fan here. Name's Kenny. Locksmith out of Sacramento CA. I love your channel and always watch your videos! I've been a locksmith for about 2 years and I love what I do. Every task is an accomplishment. About a week after I started work my boss told me he was gonna make me the best locksmith in town after he witnessed me pick a lock in seconds. He asked me, "How did you do that?" And I said, "This?" And picked the lock once more. Second time literally took 2.5 seconds. I'm always lookin for ways to expand my knowledge and add to my skills and capabilities. One day I would love to be prepared for anything. This kit would be simply amazing to add to my pick set.
    Thankyu for the times your vids have already helped me out of tight situations!

    As a beginner I've not tried bypassing. I'm told by too locksmith friends I'll never get my American practice locks open... I'd love to see what's inside. Thanks for the videos, tips, reviews, encouragement, maybe a bit of intimidation but I prefer to think talent improvement to look forward to! (btw - every Master lock I have is going to the scrap heap and being replaced. If I can pick them in 20 seconds, I don't want them. Thanks for helping secure our stuff)

    Probably already had someone say this - have not even tried reading all 1959 comments. But only the non-key retaining American padlocks are susceptible to the bypass. They do make wafers for the susceptible ones, but Peterson also makes wafer breakers, which is for those. The wafer breakers are not as easy to use as it may seem, but they can work.
