The sad part is when you realize this uplift was one of the _better_ ones of the generation. Look at the 3060ti>4060ti or 6800xt>7800xt. Many cards gave pathetic uplift or got price hikes that made them an even _worse_ value. Even with price drops there's nothing that stands out and even the best case scenarios can't muster up better than "well I guess it's not _that_ bad."
AMD and Nvidia were perfectly happy for decades making 25-30% margins. Neither them or their shareholders want to go back now after enjoying the 50-60% margins of the crypto boom.

It not shit really, i can confirm the power to performance is insane on the 40xx series cards, it all depends on what you upgrading from. In my case i had a rtx 2060 then upgraded to a rtx 4070 super. Basically was a 130% increase in performance but if you have a 30xx series card i would suggest wating for new cards to come rather. All i can say is the 4070 super is a beast and even though it was not meant for 4k gaming i can play 80% of the AAA titles on 4k med/high settings and still hit +-60fps. Saying that it appears that newer game engines like UE5 uses vram more efficiently than older engines so maybe, just maybe, Nvidias ram skimping (8gb gpus) was known by them from initial engine testing for gpus 🧐😳?

ITT people make dumb comments about GPU naming when the problem is bad price/perf and poor product placement with inadequate VRAM for the core's strength, regardless of naming.
quibbling about the naming is a dumb waste of time and completely misses what the actual problems with this gen have been.

In the Avatar test, GPU memory usage on the 3060 goes way beyond 8GB, and yet the 4060 doesn't use more system RAM, which suggests to me that the game reduces some quality settings when not having enough RAM, rather than spill into CPU RAM. This might be the reason the 4060 has more of an advantage in this game over the 3060 compared to other games.

Which one would be better for gta 6 considering the last two games like GTA 5 and RDR2 had ram, vram leak issues. Don't say none. Of course low medium settings or even high as it would be a story mode game so as long as FPS is stable and more than 30, it should be good. I recently bought one for my system as this is the best money can afford and can't get even 1$ (The price difference is 40-55$ BTW here) higher in budget considering 6000 series is rare here.

You can just turn down textures/shadows from ultra to high and all those useless volumetric fog/cloud to medium and use dlssQ the vram will be way under 8gb and run smoothly and still look as good as ps5
12gb is nice to have but if you were to push all those graphic to ultra the fps gonna be low anyway. You will eventually find yourself playing on medium low settings for alan wake 2 to have that smooth gameplay
3060 vs 4060 each trade blows so its really up to you, but i guess i will go for 4060 for more fps and lower tdp at the same price.

@@loucipher7782 I think 10gb for both the GPUs would've been the best. Then nvidia would not have launched the 8gb version for the 3060 and hearing people cry about 4gb less vram for the 4060. But anyways I would've never bought the 3060 if the price difference wasn't 40-55$ and 6000 series (6600xt or higher) were readily available for the same price. I would've somehow forced them to my 550w PSU and ignored the bottleneck..maybe. I really don't mind ray tracing and stuff. But still was a big upgrade from rx 550 2gb

Anyway the best game on PC right now with 100++ hours content is Baldurs Gate 3 and it barely eat 6gb vram, also if you are into Jrpg like Persona it take even less vram and GTA6 for pc wont be release until 2026, 2027 for Steam. People is just crying wolf at the 4060 as AAA titles that break 8gb barely last over 10 hours play time, they are all linear game with lots of bling blings that can be turned down and still look amazing. 12gb is nice to have but not necessary for such a budget tier card

From what I see here is that the 4060 has a much brighter color scheme and better image quality overall. Also I did see that the image quality and colors where brighter and more realistic in the Nvidia cards compared to AMD. While I love AMD for their bang for buck and every other AMD reason, I still see in every video that the image quality and the colors appear to be much better in the Nvidia cards.
