I’m buying my first bike and was so conflicted between the Shotgun and Super Meteor, but this video has helped me realize that I still want the Super Meteor, I LOVE the look of the Shotgun, but I want the classic American look of the Super Meteor and the fact that it’s intended to be a cruiser. In a perfect world I would have both.
You won't be sorry, the Super Meteor really delivers, you'll love it. Royal Enfield have really excelled themself with this bike. Believe me I know I own four Royal Enfields and I love them all, but this bike is the pinnacle, just superb 😀🤩
I have videos up on my Super Meteor and I love it. The best part is all the aftermarket parts you can get for it. There are so many different pannier options to include simply using 28 Quart coolers as panniers.
I bought the SM and I changed the exhausts as well as the rear suspensions. I will not change this bike for anything in the world. The more I drive, the more I love it. ❤❤❤
Love the comparison video. Thank you. I use my Shotgun 650 for riding to work and 90 minute Sunday rides. She's a real looker and almost everytime I stop somewhere, people ask me about her.
I fell in love with the looks of the Interceptor, just stunning! But after I bought it I just didn't like the feel or the riding position, so I sold it. At that time I wasn't interested in the Super Meteor at all as I'm not into cruisers and that whole scene. But strangely after thinking about it for a few months I gradually got to like the looks of the Super Meteor more and more. So I ended up buying one and it is the best bike I have ever owned or ridden, I simply love it! But for me it was definately an acquired taste, but I am so very very glad I bought it, it's the ultimate touring machine 🤩😍😁
@@corneilcorneil I preferred the riding position of the Shotgun. I've had a bunch of back surgeries and forward controls are really uncomfortable to me. I also prefer the looks of the shotgun. Evening Tomboy. I love my 650 Super Meteor, it fits me like a glove. Although I have arthritis in both knees, neck and lower back, no riding pain at all. But I do think she would benefit from a decent set of rear shocks! Next thing on my list after my Cornwall ride 🤘. Safe cruising girl, and see you in the next one 👍😊...
The best video comparison for real for sure! Thank you! As a SM 650 owner in Astral Black I added the RE Barend mirrors (highly recommended as with video. The vision behind is excellent!!) and converted to solo seat with the RE solo seat finisher. (Fender rack) Looks great stripped back! Despite Royal Enfield marketing, I have experienced the SM 650 as a brilliant commuter bike for riders who love a 60's (ish) style motorcycle. Very comfortable and relaxed. The forward controls are not as forward as some HD's I have ridden, so easy and comfortable to get along with. A smooth introduction to forward controls. Super smoth gear shifts and confidence inspiring rear brake control when needed. Front span adjustable brake, pulls the bike up with plenty. Perfect for a weekend ride for a few hours each way, but not sure I could enjoy the super touring miles! The output on the SM isn't at super performance level, however, absolutely for sure will at stop lights shoot you forward into clean air ahead of cars! Having ridden the Shotgun, love the single seat looks, I found the seat to be firm, the handling nice, but for me at 5'10 felt a little small for me in comparison. In this video, I think, both riders looked more in proportion (if that's important for looks) on the Super Meteor. Build quality and value for money on both bikes is awesome! Service intervals I wish were further apart! Not expensive but perhaps re-assure my confidence riding on a well serviced bike.🤔 Ride your own way, but both bikes will give you 'smiles for miles!'
I like Bobbers but I also like Cruisers. I'm not keen on Blue especially on a bobber, I don't like black exhausts (sorry Sparrow) so I think, today I will choose the Cruiser. All REs look good, they obviously have a fantastic team in the Styling departemnt at the factory, who really did a good job with this Super MeteoR !
Got to test ride these both this past weekend. Love the Super Meteor. One of my favorite bikes. Shotgun left a little to be desired in my opinion but still a great bike.
Like you both say, that Shotgun really is screaming out for modification and personalisation. It'd be quite affordable to do. I personally don't like the standard paint options on the Shotgun but that's soon changed.
Happily sat watching and then there you are riding through my home town and back at Cooper bs , im the same though which one to go for it would be a hard choice
Не, всё же Shotgun. Как ни крути, приятная машинка. Синий очень классный цвет у них. Ну и Дейманте всегда приятнее смотрится на любых мотоциклах, чем мужик какой-то :)
I own 2020 Interceptor Mark Three. After 1st season I modifide it. Put on it LSL Sixties handlebar, wider rear tyre, some parts from Tec, Baak blinkers and rear taillight and etc. Finaly got more sporty and comfortable position, but not so sharp as on Continental Gt. I like how it handling now, easy cornering, and with Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 tyre set, I easily can turn in forest, and use country roads. Last year I tested Super Meteor and every time I tried to find foot pegs😂 Position similiar as you watching movie in the evening on your favorite sofa wile drinking mint tea with some bisquits😀 So I think, if you are tall, for example 180cm+ you can choose Shotgun650, replacing seat to SuperMeteors single!!! You will have same sporty position, with more beautyful silhouette, with these nice alloy wheels and sexiest Enfields rear mudguard!!!! Thats will be not expensive alternative of HD Sportster, and you can limitless modified this bike as well! So good luck to everyone, and remember only your own choice will be correct!!!👌
Top info. What to choose? So many mods available, and on the way to transform into the perfect bike.Personally would love the upswept exhaust on the SG on the SM but retaining the luggage/more touring focus. The SG sadly seems a quick blast around town beast.

Nice review between the RE Bobber and Bagger. Fixed a lot of confusion between the two. Thanx a ton. Although there are a few colors that give me a serious headache to look at and on any thing: 1) Bubblegum pink 2) Detergent blue✔ 3) Medicinal yellow 4) Hospital green 5) Bright orange
I absolutely agree with you on the forward and mid setting for shifters. I am more comfortable with the mid setting, and with more aggressive seating, I own a KTM Duke. Some observation, I have stayed in the Netherlands for sometime, in the mid-country area and have seen similar roads, but none of the cars were parked on the road.
Ive test ridden them both at a dealers myself, the Shotgun is great, but I wouldn't mind the Super Meteor with the Shotgun footrests on it , as I don't like forward footrests myself. I've weighed up the actual mounting points, they're on the same place on both frames, it doesn't look a difficult job to change them, just depends weather the cost of the footrests brackets and controls would be worth it?
@@AlanDoherty-ru6iq a reversal of what highway pegs were for in the 70's, ..not an ideal situation in an emergency stop , you instinctively go for your brake and it's not there , I prefer my controls at my feet, not a foot away from them . 😉
I would like you to try the Honda Rebel, how about a comparison between the 500 and the 1100, and know your opinion. I also like the Shotgun better for aesthetics, but I think its seat is too high for a bobber, so I think I would buy the Super Meteor. Greetings ✌
If you are over 5 foot 8 the Reble is to short. The Super meteor was made for taller people I am 6 foot 2 and the Super Meteor is the most comfortable bike I have ever sat on. I love how it rides and I love how I can put just about anything I want on the back and sides.
I traded in a sportbike I didn't ride for a Super Meteor 650 Celestial late last year and just added the RE bespoke hard side bags. It's an enjoyable bike and my bum knee doesn't complain that it's bent too far to be comfortable like it did with the sportbike. This past May, the RE demo truck was at my local dealer (I'm in the US) so I took a test ride on the Shotgun. It's similar but different so kind of on the spur of the moment, and because the dealer was offering a discount on all REs in stock while the demo truck was there, I traded in a tall adv-like sport tourer for the dark gray Shotgun they had just gotten in. It's sportier handling than the Super Meteor. I love that RE 650cc motor. But I miss not having a windshield on the Shotgun especially when I take it out on the highway. So I'm currently looking for one for it. If you can't decide which one you like best, buy one of each. :)
There were sections of your route that looked strangely familiar and then it was confirmed when you pulled up at the Piggery. I never went to Cooperb to try the Supper Meteor but when I was persuaded to ride it I really liked it.
I also like the leg position on the Shotgun where the pegs are mid set and your legs rest in the middle. With this you can also saddle every time there are bad roads with undulation and pot holes. You cannot saddle on the super meteor so every time there is a pot hole you have to remain seated and the jerk is felt straight to your back bones and it's painful. Even though it's good for good roads as you seat relaxed with your feet stretched up front.
The design of the meteor looks more flowing, the proportions are right. The shotgun looks a bit 'gappy' for lack of a better word. Seems like a custom bike where parts are fitted from custom/donor parts. Both do look fantastic though.
Love both bikes but Shotgun graphics convinced me that the SM is the best choice. The author of the Shotgun color choices and graphics should imitate Triumph work in this department.
Agreed - I like the SG in stencil white or the basic grey; not a fan of the other colours. The SM in Interstellar Green or the tourer in Celestial Blue would be my picks 👍
Great video 👍👍👍 - I’ve been waiting for a comparison video! I was interested in a Super Meteor but local dealer only had a Shotgun demo available. Took it out to get an idea of the engine and instantly fell in love with it; now I’m conflicted about which to get! I’ve ridden cruisers in the past so have no problems with either fwd or mid controls but would have to see how much of a stretch the SM is as I’m 5’10” but short in the leg. I definitely prefer the SM colour choices over the SG but would need to see them in the flesh (so will probably wait for the NEC). I tested the blue SG and wasn’t a fan, it looked a bit cheap
thank you for this video. i am looking for a mid level bike and have considered these two, but considering that these bikes are not exactly the best for indian roads i may have to continue with my search
Have tried to touch the exhaust on the road, but not successful yet! 😅 They do look low... The forward controls are quite high and not sure if they would scrape. But maybe I am not riding hard enough 🤔 😂
Wheelbase length? I believe the Super Meteor is longer. The frame is completely different? Maybe just the rake of the fork is a smaller angle on the Shotgun...giving a shorter wheelbase.
3 lessons into my DAS, and the more I look at Royal Enfields', the more I keep thinking of them as a potential upgrade when the time comes. Just very spoilt for choice regarding which one to get 🤔
Когда ноги вытянуты вперёд, то они не участвуют в амортизации тела, в итоге голос райдера, подрагивающий на каждой неровности, это очень четко подтверждает.
A girl on a Royal Enfield! Marry me, please! A very enjoyable video, though. Thank you for this comparison. Could you throw light on the engine noise, sounded unsettling.
Are you referring to the light whine on deceleration? I tested both bikes - both had the whine, but it didn't sound out of place, for some reason. Perhaps someone else will chip in.
For someone who loves the Hunter 350 but not 20hp, the Shotgun is very tempting as an "at home" serviceability compared to the competitors with shim valves. Its a big deal if you live hours away from the nearest dealer.

Your vibrating voice nicely displays the main downside of the Super Meteor: the rear suspension gives you no doubt about the condition of the road.... for me, the poor suspension is emphasised by the feet forward driving position. Not my choice...
Definitivamente shodgan cumple todas las funciones...es la moto mas equilibrada hasta el momento y tengo un interceptor que la cambiaré por la escopeta...
Not my cup of tea ,,,BUT very interesting and lovely to see your partner giving his point of view ,,, even if he is wrong ,,just joking .Bobber all the way all day.
I think the handles on the side of the super meteor is for ladies in India when they wear dresses, with both legs on the same side (same on the classic, bullet…)
I did a double-take, hehe, looks like one of my videos because you no doubt came from Colchester Kawasaki (EDIT: Oh no you didnt! hehe) and I ride around that region all the time. I tried the Super Meteor from there. As a Speedmaster rider I found it excellent, but feeling too 'modern'. Not as characterful and classic-feeling as my Speedmaster. Quite high revving like a modern engine. A bit too much of a 'normal' riding position. Those things, of course, are perfect if your used to modern mid-control bikes. An easy 'into' to cruisers. For me, though, it was too 'easy' hehe.
Absolutely you shoud buy the shotgun. Its is own thing, cruises as well as the super meteor and does urban even better.. unique look that doesn't copy anyone.
Great review thanks. They are great value for what you get. I prefer the Shotgun over the Super Meteor because of the foot controls as you pointed out, I can’t do fwd controls.
9400 euro in ireland 😮, RE are no longer a "cheap" option, if they ever were, based on what you get. I fear for RE in Europe, Triumph's new budget bikes will eat them for breakfast and if they bring out a low cc version of the speedmaster, then RE will be in big trouble.
I definitely agree about the peg position I too also much prefer mid to sport peg position leaning forward slightly, it feels much more natural. Great comparison and nice vid, big thanks 👍. Ps taller by a mm or a cm is still a win 😂 and what can you see in his mirrors? Was that a f@ck all 🤣🤣

Sorry I got a bit confused. Was the Super Meteor the slightly more aggressive/sporty feeling bike?
Is there a custom video for Super Meteor? I wonder a single floating seat, with mid controls might make the Super Meteor perfect.🤔
Wheelbase length? I believe the Super Meteor is longer. The frame is completely different? Maybe just the rake of the fork
is a smaller angle on the Shotgun...giving a shorter wheelbase.
3 lessons into my DAS, and the more I look at Royal Enfields', the more I keep thinking of them as a potential upgrade when the time comes.
Just very spoilt for choice regarding which one to get 🤔
Beautiful video.. thanks for amazing content ❤
Great review but like you say they are the same but different. Might need to go ride both of them to decide. Keep up the good work Diemante. 🤓 💖
I think it’s just the character; I test rode a Shotgun and for a “small” engine it definitely has the Harley “drama” (in a good way!) 😁👍👍
@@SydMavenaround the 6:28 mark, feels odd, but could be my imagination
@@johnnyfanta couldn't have said it any better, almost like a "harley drama".
Classic 350 is the best
Love the country lanes.
For someone who loves the Hunter 350 but not 20hp, the Shotgun is very tempting as an "at home" serviceability compared to the competitors with shim valves. Its a big deal if you live hours away from the nearest dealer.
SG sitting position and the design is like a street bike and SM is classic and cruiser bike
Can u do a vedio on himlyan 450 ..and it will nice to see u in trump 400s the new talk in town .. like 400 500 segments are really bouncing back right .. u vedios r too good it heleped me i. Choosing my first bike .. i just ordered my shotgun Hopefully i will get it in a few days time
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Review
Have seen some Super Meteors made into bobbers and they look better than the Shotgun because of the slightly longer wheelbase of SMeteor.
How did you like both bikes? Great video 🤘🏻❤️😎🌹🤘🏻🎉
Great review, 🥰🥰🥰
Your vibrating voice nicely displays the main downside of the Super Meteor: the rear suspension gives you no doubt about the condition of the road.... for me, the poor suspension is emphasised by the feet forward driving position. Not my choice...
OMG.........!❤beautiful. It shall be possible someday,l believe!😊❤
Boys can we put that SG footpeg to SM????? Need help . For SHORT rider the peg position in SM is very uncomfortable.❤❤
Got to see a shotgun in real life yesterday. The bike was very small for my 6’ frame. It’s a diminutive bike. Also the seat was very stiff.
I think the handles on the side of the super meteor is for ladies in India when they wear dresses, with both legs on the same side (same on the classic, bullet…)
ShotGun❤❤❤❤❤
Oh no! Not Wellingborough!
Why not?
Hello, I Love your Video's an the Testrides are ver emotional 👍
Hi from Türkiye İzmir city Thanks ❤🇹🇷💐
Looks royal 🔥
I definitely agree about the peg position I too also much prefer mid to sport peg position leaning forward slightly, it feels much more natural. Great comparison and nice vid, big thanks 👍. Ps taller by a mm or a cm is still a win 😂 and what can you see in his mirrors? Was that a f@ck all 🤣🤣
21:35 it is for hanging bags
I like them both looks wise but I'm 186 cm tall and their both a bit cramped for me .
Just reflect, was the comment necessary.
If it doesn’t suit you, don’t buy it.
Does it have to be trumpeted?
Miss how tall are you no disrespect i also prefer the Shotgun
@@freedomviewer I’m 5’9 175cm
@@tomboyabit thank you im 5’11 i saw a bit of bent on your knee and that is nice when you use a bike as a commuter inside the city it helps alot unless you ride a supermoto
I call it a bike im from India by the way never thought of going for a test ride anyway but will have a go on it for sure thank you
So beautiful 😍
I am from India.. I become fan of this bike😂❤
Clicked the video thinking there are 2 reviewers 😮
Super metro ground clearence if it is 140 mm or 145 mm it will be more better for me
somebody make a rake triple tree for super meteor, it will make it look so much better
Think the bsa goldstar looks better than either. That iggy should have a pay rise as well for having that rucksack to carry round.😂
good to see Tomboy on a Royal Enfield, anyways, they are more of a Girls Motorcycle Brand nowadays!!
which one.. the R.E. 650 Continental GT 🙂 !
I didn’t think I would like the blue and yellow Shotgun, but then I saw it in person, and it’s quite fetching. And I’m already thinking a smaller swingarm
mounted rear fender would look cool.
Nowadays 1080p looks like 480p.
Out of the 350cc id go Hunter,Super Meteor 650 out of them
Indian like .. they're seeing everything...but at last they're buying definitely classic..😅😅
In india classic is like every houses dream
1 Horse power and more than 1 Horse power in Same Frame!
