An Idiot's Guide To Fixing LCD Screen And Temperature Control Lights On 2003-2009 4runners

- Fixing burnt out light bulbs in your 4runner's clock LCD screen and temperature controls is so easy, anyone can do it. In this video, I walk you through the step by step process to get your dashboard lit back up in 10-20 minutes.
To replace all of the lights, you'll need 6 bulbs - 2 for the LCD screen, 1 for each of the outer temperature control dials, and 2 for the center dial. They all go in the same way, simply remove the whole climate control panel and swap them out.
Toyota part numbers:
Clock / LCD Screen - 90010-09017
Outer temperature control dials - 90010-09015
Center temperature control dial - 90010-09016
You can also buy generic bulbs and swap the original backing and cover onto them, but this way is quicker and easier. Don't waste hundreds of dollars paying to get this fixed, do it yourself!

Anyone doing this, it’s different bulbs for the Limited trim and the SR5 trim. I found this out the hard way. For the SR5 trim climate control knobs you’re are going to need 3 bulbs, one for each knob. Part number 90010-09015. All other bulbs are as mentioned in the video.
What about the sport trim? I assume it uses the same as the SR5 but i’d be nice to know before i buy anything
@@yourmomsbf_ VERIFIED: Sport Edition is same as SR5. I have an '08 Sport, am currently doing this project. Found the Toyota official parts listings with illustrations. Two bulb sets were used - one set for the Limited and one set for the other two models.

That little pocket under the hvac controls houses all the rewards or membership cards I’ve amassed. Whenever I get to a store or place I frequent, I grab the related card and continue with my day. Hated stuffing them in my wallet so this helped a lot.

First time 4th gen owner and last night I noticed that a few were burnt out for me as well. The people who designed this thing need serious praise, it's meant to repair yourself and I love that. Very clear and helpful video keep it up!

Thank you so much!!! That was maybe one of the easiest DIY car fixes I've ever done!!!! Just an FYI for everyone out there, the parts he lists aren't for all 4th gens. The 016 part didn't go with my 2005 base model SR5 4Runner. The other two for sure did. There were like 4 other bulbs in mine that don't appear to be in yours. If you have issues with the LC, this is the best dang video on TH-cam!!!

Been driving around with burnt out clock bulb exactly like what you had bc some lazy tech told me it would require dismantling the entire dash and was a giant PITA. Glad I did a 3 second YT search.
I finally did this a couple months back and I was kicking myself the whole time for waiting almost 3 years to do it. So easy it's silly.

Note: for the sr5 there are only 3 for the middle row. I went to the dealer 2x they ordered the wrong quantity of each bulb, so I took the unit off took it in and showed them there was only 3.

Love it! Thanks for the videos brotha, i just picked up an 03 4.7 sport edition 4runner and i love it, its been taken care of for 11years by the past owner and now its in my care. It has 273,000 miles and it runs strong. All the power outlets where not working and i just fixed that and now ill be driving just down the road to pick up these light bulbs to fix the clock! My friend works at the dealership as a lube tech and hes gonna get me a discount!

Thanks! This is exactly what I needed to fix the bulbs in our 2004 4 runner. They've been burned out for years. Almost in the exact same locations are yours were. (right side of the clock out etc) I'm going to order the bulbs right now. subbed!

We all use the little glove box for holding 2 hand cannons down here in the USA. It’s fits two pistols perfectly, which works out great because we have two hands and drive no handed down here.

Hi, love your videos, I own a 2003 toyota 4runner 4.7 v8 sport edition, with 151k no issues so far
So I had one side of the screen out just like yours. Followed your video “almost” to a T. Wish I would’ve followed exactly. I bought just the one light, and now everything is back together and the opposite side is out. Back to the Yota parts counter tomorrow should’ve bought them all like you recommended. In my little compartment, I modified it a little and put a switch panel in there for my light bars
that little storage box held my CDs back in the day.

Awesome video. I have the same problem with one bulb. Will definitely replace it now. Incidentally, I use the compartment that you pulled out to put money. Easier when I'm at a food drive through than trying to pull my wallet out.

Yes they do. There are videos on TH-cam showing installs.
In that little compartment I keep my "shore leave" wrist watch, some gum, a lighter, a knife, a new deck of cards with girls on the back and a long sleeve shirt with horses on the front.

I use that little pop out pocket to store my caltrops. They come in handy if you suspect someone is following you.

Great video and it convinced me to finally fix the bulbs that have been out for years since I bought my 2003 4Runner in THAT YEAR!. The best purchase I've ever made. BTW, I missed the recall to get my dash replaced by the dealership...FREE (ouch). It's got cracks and is the only part of this awesome vehicle that shows its age. Does anyone have a solution for getting a new dash or just making it look better for a fair price? Any help is appreciated. Thanks a ton for this video!!

Just replaced the lights in mine today!
I have a 2007, followed the directions was easy enough. I went to the dealer to get the bulbs. Could not find the match for the clock. Even though I had the correct part number still could not get the correct bulb. Parts guy told me that they probably changed the bulb.
sooo cray cause i have the exact same pair, 92 sw20 mr2 and a 2003 v8 4runner ...plus a gs430...got to love toyota...all fun cars and all modified
So, I use the center pop out tray as a holder for my Registration and Insurance cards, but I believe it supposed to be an ash tray. Not sure though. The video is excellent. Thx

I put my wallet and insurance pamphlet in there fits perfectly.
Can’t do that in Kentucky because they throw your title, registration and insurance into an envelope that you keep on hand. Otherwise a solid tip!

Hey! Not sure if you’re gonna see this but my 04 Sport has had the bulbs out for a while, I bought all new bulbs from a dealership and installed them just as specified, but they’ll only light up what’s selected. The rest of the selector wheel won’t light up. Any tips?

@@kirkmathews5706 I sold the truck a while ago, but no, I don’t think I ever did. Replaced them all with brand new bulbs to no avail. Even swapped them around a few times, would only illuminate the selected control
