This is the most serious I've ever seen Mr Winters. I'm glad to see this vidro, because it ahows a different side to him I've never seen, and he was quite popular at this filming. He was throughout his career of course. He is to me a deep thinking man, who had his heart broke when he was a child several times , but didnt allow it to make him a mean bitter adult man. Mr Winters to me comes across as very kind. When he had that painting of hunters, and him ssying..."look what your doing to them(animals,") it was a revelation abiut his heart really. He was in some respects too good for this world. He is the G.O.A.T

I just loved Jonathan since childhood… his talent was just so different remarkable comedy … interesting I never knew he’d been an artist… it makes sense cuz he’d paint pictures with his words too … that’s what stood out to me about Jonathan… I could easily picture the story in great detail.. rarely relied on timing which for most comics is essential.. anyways thanks for uploading.

My Dad was on a flight out of LAX back in the 70's, when Jonathan Winters boarded his plane. He didn't go sit in First Class, he walked back to Econo & sat across the row from my Dad. They started talking about working in Hollywood (my Dad worked at CBS when Television was first coming out but Radio was still going strong) so they were laughing about different T.V. & Film stars they both worked with....when Jonathan went into character and he entertained all the passengers for the entire flight! When he could have sat in First Class with sunglasses on to hide his face...he joined the average traveler and had the plane in hysterics! Dad talked about that experience til the day he died. It one of many memories Dad shared with that generation of celebrities that were real and very giving.

As funny as Johnathon was, he had a very painful upbringing. He overcame it through sheer will to improve his life. He did that and brought the rest of us along for the ride. A truly fine entertainer.

I can't believe I'm a decade older now than those two then. I grew up watching that generation on TV.
It's also interesting to compare this interview to what you see on late night shows these days. Winters comes out and they actually have a conversation, some of it entertaining, some of it not that much. These days, the host would have one or two points that he's supposed to hit and the guest is prepared to talk about, then they'd go over the guest's newest project, and that would be it.

Clearly none of you have been to Wyoming between 5pm and 2:00am.
Or Colorado: Where a friends Parents were struck by a drunk while riding their motorcycle. The Perp was a six time DUI offender from south of the Rio Grande with no papers and they weren't lost. Colorado feels sorry for evil people and sets them free to murder society, which is why we have an inordinate amount of DUI, Road rage murders and school shootings.

I miss Johnathan Winters. When I was a kid I would watch him on the Tonight show and he helped me as a fat kid engage other kids with humor. I grew out of being fat, but in HS, he and Robert Klein helped me along with my dad gain friends with humor.
