    I asked my dermatologist about micro-needling at home, he said the rollers make tiny little tears in the skin which isn't good for it. The ones that are professionally used go straight in and straight out which he said is the best for the skin.

    • @LiveYoungLifestyle
      @LiveYoungLifestyle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Racheal! That is true that the micro-rollers for home use leave slightly more of a triangular tear than the professional ones in doctor offices or medispas. But that's okay because, remember, the needle length for at-home rollers is much much shorter. So the microscopic tears are not bad for it at all. Your skin should only become flush. Often times dermatologists argue this point because they would rather have you come in and do these types of things in their offices.

    • @bluecurlygirl
      @bluecurlygirl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Makes perfect sense. The roller is ploughing up the skin but the stamp for example is straight up and down. I've used the roller three times and I'm not going back. I can see the tears and if I can see them they're huge. I've bad eyesight. I don't need glases to see them

    FYI microcurrent should only be used with a ionic face gel similar to untrasound gel. The current does not work with anything which has any oils or butters in.

    • @LiveYoungLifestyle
      @LiveYoungLifestyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      True, but an oil-free moisturizer or even mineral water sprays works just as good. As long as there is no oil in it. The gels are more expensive, and I don't like the fact that the manufacturers pressure people to buy them.

      @@LiveYoungLifestyle I am an esthetician and use a nuface device. Just wanted to let you know that you can use any aloe based gel or gel hydrator... just no oils or butters. Also, the nuface does penetrate products deeper into the skin so I would make sure that you are using products that don't have parabens or synthetics. I have aloe plants... you can use those or just buy a gel from the health food store. Sometimes you can find the whole leaf there too.
      You inspired me to pull out my microneedling again. You are absolutely beautiful!

    I’m turning 23 very soon I treated myself to the nuface mini for now because I don’t think I needed the large one until later on in life! I love it and see the results I want! I hope when I am in my 50s I will look as incredible as you do! I started really looking after my skin this year but have always moisturized since my early teens

      Hi Kaitlyn! Thank you so much! Please please please watch my Nightly Skincare Routine video. If you over-moisturize you create lazy skin. You want to dry the outer layer of skin so that it signals the deeper layers to create its own moisture from within.

      Beware of some skin creams, they're plump facial dissolving. Meaning they take away your plumpness that keeps skin nice and lifting and fresh and YOUTHFUL. look at the stars ,some of their face skins are obvious haywire. Somebody who had a job at a cosmetic store kept warning me. perhaps 'clearisil was a product. plus plus who knows what other products , cause of pharmacy names.

    dermarollers create small inverted triangle shaped pockets in your skin, a lot of people use them incorrectly too. Dermapens are more expensive but they don't create the big pockets that dermarollers create. They don't go into your skin at an angle, instead they just go in straight and come out at the same angle. I'd advise dermapens or dermastamps over the dermaroller. Most cheap dermarollers also don't use real needles but triangle shaped metal (kind of looks like a gear when you open the dermaroller), it's more damaging than real needles.

    Darnell, you are GORGEOUS! I never saw you before today when I listened to this video about your 3 favorite anti-aging devices. I had guessed you were probably in your mid-to-late 30's and am floored to see you are 50! I just turned 71 on Monday (photo was 2010). Since I'm now retired and med spa treatments are no longer affordable, and Retin-A .1% for past year still isn't enough, I am very excited about trying your routine. I have a .5 derma roller (probably good to start with) but have been afraid of the pain, so all that you said is enough for me to start with the derma roller. I hope I didn't waste money on my newly purchased Panda Box RF unit, but we'll see. Will have to see if the Nuface is also affordable as that looks like an excellent alternative a neck lift for beginning jowls and loose skin under chin. Thank you so much for a great video!

      @LiveYoungLifestyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Hello Saira! Great question! I don't want to steer you wrong here. I would suggest seeing a dermatologist just to be sure this is a viable treatment for you. Generally, it depends on the severity of the problem. People have seen complete reversal of keratosis and acne with micro needling. But again, it depends on the severity.

    Do NOT use regular moisturiser with the Nuface ladies (and gentlemen!) - you have to use an oil-free CONDUCTING GEL with it for it to work properly, so don't follow her advice because it's wrong.

      Hi! I know you are looking out for my subscribers, and for that I appreciate your comment. However, I do not feel that you need to use the special gel. You need something that will allow the Nuface device to glide on your skin. But this can be done with thermal water or an oil-free moisturizer. I have found the gel to be messy and I can't get the device up into my hairline without having goop in my hair. The company will tell you that anything with oil will reduce the effectiveness. But my theory is... If you can feel the tingle from the machine, then it is working. Lately, I've been spraying thermal water on my skin before treating that area.

I saw one with both RF and iPL on 3 different speeds with a temperature indicator. What I don't understand is the difference between the control of FL, SF, and CL on the portable Thermage? It is why I have not ordered it until I make myself understanding the difference first.

    From what I understand, these are meant to be used for 3 months max (all depends how often you do your derma rolling). You have to replace them with new ones because the needles will dull and won't be as effective or even tear the skin. Also, if you drop it and the needles get bent do not use it. Replace it.

    • @LiveYoungLifestyle
      @LiveYoungLifestyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I completely agree! I usually use my derma-roller once a week for a few months, then I take a few months off. I take really good care of mine. I disinfect before and after and I change it out every 18 months - 2 years. If you use it once a week for a year (without taking any weeks off) that's 52 uses. I would say that's approximately 50-60 uses is how many times someone could use it before it needs replacing.

    Happy I found you- love all your tips and advice. You are gorgeous, but not only outside but you seem very beautiful on the inside, too. I am a convert to the Nuface device. Wow - what a difference it is making for me. My question is on the conducting gel- I purchased a huge backup of the gel, but would love to use Cetaphil or something from my cabinet. In your opinion, you mentioned you do not feel it is necessary to use a special gel? I read somewhere that oil does not allow the waves to penetrate - any thoughts you have on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your generous advice. Xoxo

    • @LiveYoungLifestyle
      @LiveYoungLifestyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not feel that you need to use the special gel. You need something that will allow the Nuface device to glide on your skin. But this can be done with thermal water or an oil free moisturizer.

      I have the NuFace also that came with the newer gel which is supposed to stay moist longer. That doesn't seem to be the case from what I notice, but I came up with a Great idea. I squeeze some of the gel into a small spray bottle , 2oz, that has a fine mist sprayer. Add a pinch of salt, and add water. I think I did 25 gel and 75 water. Before I start, I apply the gel straight, spray the lighter gel over, and start the procedure. As it dries out, I just spay more of the gel/water combo. It works. The gel they sent me will last a VERY long time.

    I am not totally convinced on long term safe use of the dermaroller....I am waiting on that. Body yes, face not sure. And anyone with this many gadgets must be doing in office procedures like filler, Ulthera, PRP. She looks great but this is a combination of many different treatments and very good upkeep. She knows what she's doing that for sure! Good on her. But a Nuface will not give you huge lift. It may keep your face at bay, but it won't do what Ulthera can. It's how you want to spend your money and getting most bang for buck.
