They both sound pretty good and very close to eachother
I have the ENGL Fireball 25 and I just love it. Every time I see/listen to a comparison with the 100, I find the 25 a little more refined. There's definitively more gain in the 100. A lot of ppl found that even with the gain on minimum, it was just too much, so you ended up with less usable gain. So, the 25 was made with a more usable gain. I honestly prefer it that way, as I usually boost my amps with an overdrive. Of course the 100 has a bigger lower end, but again, I find the 25 has a more usable and controlled lower end. As for presence, I find that I don't need to dial in a lot, so I guess that's in-line with your findings too. I just love this little beast! 😍
Is the fireball 25 loud enough to keep up with a metal drummer for band practice?
I’d love to see a shootout between the ENGL Fireball 25 and the PRS MT15 🤘😎
metoo
Great vid. Thanx for doing the shootout.
The Fireball 25 is KICKASS!!! Gonna be my next amp purchase.
🤘🏽😝🤘🏽
I debated a year ago between the two. After listening to this I’m still glad I went with the 100. It’s warmer, thicker, and fuller. I’m loving the way that MXR M77 sounds with these amps in this video. You may have sold me on one of those.
Got them both. The 100 has way more low end and punchier power section. Might be the heaviest engl ever. For recording and low volume 1 watt setting- the 25 is amazing. Voicing wise they are very close, 25 being raspier. The noise gate on both is phenomenal as well.
The 25 sounds sick AF.
Both amps are amazing, I'm so impressed the 25 can hang in there with 100 watt, and it does , Thanks!!!
Dude both amps are great... great review.. i love my fireball 25... it keeps up with its big brother for being a quarter the size but the fact that its not quarter the price is a bummer haha.. if i had more space or played big venues the 100 would be the way to go but since i use my fireball 25 as a bedroom amp it just works better for my application. Anyways... great review both amps rip dude great playing and quick turn around time for requested videos!
Back in the day, I was totally stoked... That my cab and head were completely square with each other. Small things matter. 😄
Great video - Love Engl and LOVE Life of Agony
Hey there from Germany. I love your Reviews, theyre funny and full of Informations. In my Opinion, youre the Best gear tester with High gain stuff, please keep this Kyle.
But one Thing i miss on your channel.
A high Output Pickup Test / Comparison.
It would be very Nice if you ca do a comparison of some Seymour Duncan, EMG or Bareknuckle Pickups, just to Show the Differences and Possibilities of Sound and Music style.
Keep on Rockin
Thank you . That is exactly the video I was waiting for. Cause I wanna buy both of them. One for the living room and one for the basement 😂
Dude there is no wrong answer for which one sounds better and THANK YOU for using the Engl cab!!!
I already had my mind set on the fireball 25. Now that has been confirmed even more strongly
THANKS!!
It almost sounds like a comparison between an amp and a digitally modeled/captured version of the same amp. The 25 sounds great on its own, close to the 100. But the 25 seems static/compressed when compared to the 100 which has more dimension/movement to both the low and high and is less compressed.
From what I’ve seen on videos Engl have definitely got the mini 25 closer to the 100 than most brands ,the only thing is like you say in the room is usually a different story

this comment! lmao \m/\m/
Definitely sound awesome. Really wondering if Synergy will be releasing a Fireball preamp now...!
I haven't played the 100 yet, but the 25w is a ridiculous little beast. It's raw and articulate with loads of usable gain. The clean channel is very usable as well for my lonley boy ambient time 🤔... Engl amps are really something special. Great video as always Kyle 👍🏼
I'm finding that the lunch box amps, and even the micro amps are just as good as their bigger brothers. Also, a lot more affordable than the bigger amps. I don't play out in bands much these days, but for a home studio, they suit my needs just great. Yes, I'm aware of plug ins being available as well.
The main problem I have with a lot of them is that the channel config for 2 channel small amps is almost all "clean and high gain" ... makes no fucking sense.
The 25 is clearer, 100 is thicker. They sound like the same amp though with slightly different EQs
I have the 25 I love it.
The 100 sounds a little brighter. I think it is because of the higher wattage. Another great video my metal friend
Cool! I wonder how they compare to EVH 5150iii 50w
I bought the Fireball 25 and it's amazing, i usually prefer it over my old Invader 100 because usually the "bigger low end" of the 100w is too much anyways. The Fireball 25 does a much more controlled sound straight out of the box, also the gain knobs allow nice "edge of breakup" and crunch sounds, which is often hard to pull off with older Engls. I can play punchy metal riffs or even get close to classic vintage sounds with that thing if i want to, volume and clean headroom of these 25w is easily enough to keep up with a drummer.
Fireball 100 player. Love it. The 25 is pretty rad, especially with that built-in attenuator on the back panel. But I like the bigger, beefier sound of the 100.
100%
The 25 is an excellent package in its own given the features and the built-in attenuator.
So, how soon until you do the Synergy ENGL Savage module as part of ENGL month?
Sorry, I did try and look up your reviews of both modules, but only found the Powerball one... and you mentioned in your livestream that you hadn't done the Savage vid yet...
So? Am I asking too much rn? If so, I still dig your vids and I'll keep watching!
They sound great id love a fireball 25
I preferred the 100, but they are very close
Hey Kyle, I have an idea for a video. I’m curious how let’s say the Fireball 100 compares to the Engl in the helix through a Seymour Duncan powerstage into the same cab. Just curious how close it could really get and your thoughts since I can’t really spend 2000 on an amp at the moment lol but I have an awesome cab, cheap power amp and a Helix.
You should do another shootout with the Ironball SE vs Fireball 25. I've seen Jon do it but I'd like to see you give it a crack dialing them in.
I feel like most of these lower watt amps sound great, but the 100w just gives a "wider" sound. Almost sounds like a fairly aggressive high and low pass filter was applied to the 25w
I actually preffered the 100 wihout the TS9 overdrive, it became a bit thin and nasal. The 25 was better with the TS9, getting that mid-boost it needs.
One my headphones, I can hear the difference between the amps but its super subtle. I wonder what the difference would be on my monitors. I feel like the 25 would be a priceless tool for recording. I mean sure the 100 watt may be "better" but for tracking i don't need more low end or more saturation. Honestly I feel like that 25 would be easier to record just based on this video. I'm trying to imagine the tones you created being double tracked and spread. Yeah I gotta get one of those lil fellas in my collection!
The 100 has more upper mid fizz, warmer and beefier base. The 25 sounds great alone, but in comparison to the elder sibling, it sounds like it is waiting for its voice to drop.
Little more compression happening on the 25 but the tone is all there I suppose pushing the 100 volume would sound identical. That being said the 25 sounds better with everything at noon.
In my ears i hear that the 100 have more headroom and of course, more power. But the fun to play it is the same
idk maybe the tonal difference especially when boosted can be explained by Fireball 100 just having much more headroom.
In a mix I wouldn’t be able to hear any difference. Maybe a tad different in a room for sure but wow they’re similar.
I liked the 25 with the Duncan and the 100 with the Fluence. I guess I like both.
Theyve got the same character. I got a feeling if the 25 was on a single 12" cab itd sound closer.
Would seem to me the 25 is the better choice for most people. If your playing out in a medium to large room, the 100 needs to be cranked way higher to get the same saturation and presence. This makes the lower wattage head much easier to dial in for most rooms. How many people can really use the 100 watt head practically? You just don't need all that power very often.
it's like with most lunchbox amps: they naturally have less muscles/low punch than their big brothers, but sound great anyway!
All this ENGL stuff on you channel...i need to buy ENGL and maybe some Esp LTD BM guitar those two (engl<D Black metal) sounds Killer
Fireball 25 🔥
25 sounds slightly more scooped to me. Both sound great, though.
Well, I’m not hearing much of a difference in the amps. They both sound killer! I may need both in my life! Haha
Not sure which one is better. 100 sounds cleaner and quite need the right boost. 25 can sound too busy in mids but also more mix ready...
🔥🔥🔥
Should compare them both with the Synergy module.
They don't make a Fireball synergy module, but they SHOULD
Every video I see of the fireball 25 it sounds great.... On the other hand when I bought one and played through it i hated it.
What’s weird is I had the money for either but went 25 cause it sound angrier and dare I say more unique?? 11:35
I prefer the sound of the little guy. Sounded tighter, which is usually the opposite
Which one is better for a gigging musician? I like the footprint of the 25, but what if your band has a loud metal drummer?
Mic the cab, but it should be plenty loud enuff
Where does the Savage MK II stand in your list of ENGL's?
He’s got some good videos in it. Likes the amp but the Fireball is his favourite for the aggressive midrange bark and low end.
The 100 is way fuller
I prefer the 25 cause you can play at home and everything is good.
Do these amps really put out the same volume? Maybe thats a stupid question but these amps sound almost the same so I dont see the point of getting a 100W amp over the 25W
Headroom
I am upset because I prefer the 100 for whatever reason, and that means more $$$.
The thing that sucks about this video is you had to say negative things about either of these 2 amps that sound spectacular.
Do they both have the same tubes?
Kind of
i like the mids of the 25 but the lows of the 100. i can't afford both. or even one of them for that matter
i'd be very interested to see if you could get them closer with an EQ in the loop of the 25
The 100 watt is deeper as far as bass tone; much fuller than the 25. Personally I would prefer the 100 over the 25. The 25 is a practice amp...
The 25 is definitely NOT a practice amp at all.... Actually it's far more usable than the 100, run it through a vertical 2x12 with V30's and it'll keep up with everything easily...
100w certainly sound "fuller" if you play on your own but i use the Fireball 25 with a 4x12 in the rehearsal room and it can not only keep up with bigger amps, i also prefer the sound of the 25 in the mix with less muddy bass.
It's a shame the 60 is fizzy and crap. The 100 is just a bit too much power for me
I'm an Orange guy, but ENGL is next on the to buy list.
On my JBL earbuds the 25 sounds better.
