My favorite scene from Top Gun: Maverick was when Tom Cruise was flying really fast and clipped the treeline and flipped the plane like 4 times and flew away smoothly! He's such a bad ass! Great recreation of the flying in the movie though!

@@dontclap1 my hotas setup used to be dirt cheap, but it is absolutely possible to get alot out of DCS with a TM T-flight X and some pedals (and VR i guess too). in particular i found the p-51 to be 100% usable with the T-flight X, the F/A-18 however i had to fly without trim for wayyy too long. recently got the X-56, and its good, but if your going to upgrade, might as well go full Win Wing for the extra $200 in my opinion.

He led the Sukhoi into a trap, jumped out of the plane, then shot a bazooka rocket and destroyed it, then the Wright bro plane turned a 180 degree Sonic the Hedgehog loop and he landed back on the plane. Then to get back to the carrier, the brakes broke down, so he directed the Wright bro plane to the carrier, jumped out of it, landed on an F14 fox, which intercepted the Wright bro plane with a hook to slow it down, then he jumped out to the Wright bro plane, and landed both planes to safety.
It would of been the laughing stock of Hollywood. Not something they were aiming for and would of been disasterous. It's an action movie, not a comedy. This is a comedy.

I remember when I was 19 getting my pilot license in Alaska. We were in a 152 practicing moose stalls, basically you’re doing a tight rising corkscrew and you purposely bring the nose up while doing it to stall the plane. After you stall you drop the nose gain speed and recover. Simple enough, but my dumbass after stalling was still at a 45 when dropping the nose. Well while we were diving to gain speed, since we were already angled a good bit I naturally started doing a barrel roll. My flight instructor yells “my sticks” means I gotta let the fuck go and let him take control of the aircraft. He levels out gets back to 5000 and points to a small plaque screwed into the dash that says “ no barrel rolls or flips” and some date on it, he says “no rolls since” whatever date can’t remember. I laughed and he laughed and I apologized and just said it felt natural and I just kinda went for it without thinking. Well we did a few more of the stalls and then he showed me an old crash site near by from years ago, all you could see were a bit of airframe sticking out of the ground. He said that was from an instructor and a trainee both died and nothing was left of them. They were also doing moose stalls but at too low of an altitude and loss control while doing it and corkscrewed into the ground at like 7gs (idk if he said 7gs) but basically they hit the ground so hard there was nothing left of them and the plane was permanently lodged into the ground and extremely mangled ( probably because of the remote location not easy to get equipment to) I wish I had stuck with it, I really enjoyed flying.

IIRC, the 152 doesn’t have a fuel pump, but is fed by gravity. Not good when you turn of the engine while inverted.
