An event very similar to this actually happened in Vietnam. The event was known as "Pardo's Push" where Captain John Pardo used his F4 Phantom to push his wingman's badly damaged aircraft, flown by Captain Earl Aman, 88 miles toward Laos. Pardo had his wingman lower his tail hook and he pushed the other F4 by lodging the tail hook on his canopy until one of his own engines caught fire and he ran out of fuel. Both pilots had to eject and they managed to evade capture before being rescued by helicopter. They were both eventually awarded the Silver Star.
It also happened during the Vietnam war when an f4c phantom was pushed out of the way by another F4 very interesting story I recommend you check it out

What a hero. I wish more teammates played like this. Truly makes the game *way* more enjoyable than just "getting kills". Anyone can get a kill, but it takes real skill and heart to do something like this with little to no communication or planning.

If you watch closely, you could see how close they were to fucking up their aircraft. And you could even tell how that Phantom 4 was seriously hauling ass trying to get his friend out of that situation dude. Respect.
Whoever that was actually knows their history. It was called “Pardos push” and involved a mortally wounded F-4 in Vietnam. He dropped his arresting hook and another F-4 used his jet to push long enough that the stricken crew could eject in safer area.
Pardo's F4 had taken a hit and lost fuel. Once his plane's fuel dried up both crew's ejected. A bean counter didn't believe he had been hit and run out of fuel and tried to discipline him for losing his plane, but charges were dropped.
@@silentkhaos1176 in general, it's a term for anyone that obsesses over small detail finances, adding up pennies and cutting costs to try to balance a bottom line... in this specific case though, yeah, "desk jockey officer who's never been deployed outside of air conditioning" fits

That move was based on an actual event. During the Vietnam conflict, 2 F-4's were returning from a sortie when one was critically low on fuel. The pilot of the low fuel aircraft was directed to drop his tail hook, and the other pilot flew their aircraft up to the tailhook, using the windscreen to push the aircraft into safety.
Man moments of teamwork like these really make this game amazing, the best experience I've had in War Thunder was when I was fairly new to the game playing as a bomber, I got attacked by a couple fighters that I couldn't fend off. In comes maybe 4 teammates who shoot them down and escort my barely airborne bomber back to the base.
If you have the setting on you automatically get put into a squad every game so it doesn’t necessarily mean it was organized but it could have actually been a random
Something similar actually happened in the Vietnam War (march 10, 1967). It's called "Pardo's push" where Captain John R. Bob Pardo (f4 pilot) pushed his wingman's f4 phantom using his own plane by aiming his cockpit window to the f4's tailhook. This is because his wingman's plane was severely damage and leaked fuel until he eventually ran out of it. Instead of crash landing in the enemy's territory, his wingman "glided" 80 miles further (which is already far enough to be safely rescued after bailing out). They both survived
This is similar to when I got stuck in a trench in sim battles and I couldn't get out no matter how hard I tried...then a madlad teammate came and helped me get out...I couldn't get out for quite a while but he didn't abandon me...respect to that man, I wish I could've helped him in return
I had a similar thing happen to me. I was flipped over and an enemy tank saw me and rammed me until I flipped back over, then they patted my turret with their barrel and drove off
so me and my teammate's tank flipped over, and i thought no one would help us and im about to press J to leave the vehicle, until the 3 horsemen of chad arrived, they tried flipping my tank back for almost entire game, and we are at B point at that time so its a bit complicated situation, we tried several ways, but one chad got an idea, he entered his dive bomber and drop a bomb not near or far away us, the shockwaved flipped over our tank and me and my teammate are back on track
Had something similar happen. Got my Maus stuck in an artillery crater, and had two Russian Tanks try to tow me out, then in comes the speedy (Enemy) SPAA at what must've been 20+mph and just *rams* me. The Russians didn't shoot him, I didn't shoot him... the buddy he was in squad with, however, dropped a bomb and killed all four of us.
Something like this actually happened irl, it was 2 f86 sabers during the korean war. One of them was leaking fuel over the enemy territory and was certain to crash land, the other decided to lodge the nose of his plane into the afterburner of the leaking one, successfully pushing the plane to land where they could RTB safely
He meant the turbine exhaust I’d did happen with two Sabers during the Korean War unfortunately he was forced by command to eject so the rescue helicopter could get practice and got tangled in his parachute cords and drowned.
Wanna play this game well lemme tell ya something about the fandom This guys leak military grade secrets just to have the tanks and planes to be very accurate to their military counter part
It's been a long time since I've even played WT. In all the shenanigans that my previous squadrons tried to pull off I have never seen two aircraft touch no matter how gentle without having something just fall off and both crash. Must have been an update
I just fucking LOVE how it actually worked. I expected you to not land smoothly but he carried you enough to balance. Wish there are more team mates dedicated. We need to know this lads name.
I WATCHED THIS VIDEO FROM SO LONG AGO AND ONLY NOW IVE REALIZED YOU POSTED THIS! I know im very late but it justs shocking on how it took me so long to find this video.
Theres a real life story from vietnam to this btw, one phantom got its engines destroyed by flak fire. The other phantom was orderd to leave their partner behind and save the aircraft. They were still over vietcong teretory and knew that as a pow it was horror. The "dead" phantom extended its wire catcher which is used to land on carriers, the phantom with an engine left rammed the wire catcher over and over with the extremely strong bulletproof glass, (which shatterd) he pushed the phantom over and over until his last engine too gave up and they had to eject. Like a wonder they had made it over the border and all 4 crew were rescued on the spot. That pilot is a hero Edit: th-cam.com/video/4F4FWxHZ0bg/w-d-xo.html
This actually happened, but in a kind of a different way. During the Vietnam war, one F-4 phantom pilot pushed another by pushing its canopy on the tailhook of the other F-4 to keep them going because they had their engines shut off and had almost no fuel. Another instance was where an F-86's oil tank got hit, so the pilot had to push the other F-86 forwards using the air intake infront and pushed the F-86 at the shut off engine.
We weren’t just soldiers, we were brothers. When a brother falls behind we pick them up, never leave a man behind. No, not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need.

The push was very minimal but likely helped a ton with the distance, increasing the glide distance just enough to make it to the airfield bounds

"We fight, not for the enemy in front of us. We fight for the people behind of us".

Never played War Thunder but that was one of the most beautiful moments I've seen in all of gaming.
I was flipped over and an enemy tank saw me and rammed me until I flipped back over, then they patted my turret with their barrel and drove off
@@blakethefoxxo5162 What a gigachad
so me and my teammate's tank flipped over, and i thought no one would help us and im about to press J to leave the vehicle, until the 3 horsemen of chad arrived, they tried flipping my tank back for almost entire game, and we are at B point at that time so its a bit complicated situation, we tried several ways, but one chad got an idea, he entered his dive bomber and drop a bomb not near or far away us, the shockwaved flipped over our tank and me and my teammate are back on track
One day you might see someone in the same position and be able to help them out.
and so the cycle continues.
Something like this actually happened irl, it was 2 f86 sabers during the korean war. One of them was leaking fuel over the enemy territory and was certain to crash land, the other decided to lodge the nose of his plane into the afterburner of the leaking one, successfully pushing the plane to land where they could RTB safely
thats so cool

That pilot is a hero

I dont fucking know who you are but you have a mark so I'll just be the first reply

Whoever helped this pilot and if you ever read this, thank you for your service!
Pardo's Push
We weren’t just soldiers, we were brothers. When a brother falls behind we pick them up, never leave a man behind. No, not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need.
It's not possible in the real world or they both will die.

our story continues when he decides to become an officer in the airforce, he was fist granted a basic, propeller engined, small plane. every year, he would be promoted, and so it continued like this:
year 1: airman 3th class
year 2: airman 2nd class
year 3: airman first class (deserves to use first instead of 1st lol)
year 4: officer
year 7: major
year 11: lieutenant,
now year 11 was really important: our hero is now both 29, and hes a lieutenant, he got offered the *phantom, the plane that he used today in his glorious move.* our scene though, begins when he turns 32, he was sent on an escort mission of unfuelled aircraft, for example this one. its the year 2021 (*i wont count if 199X + 32 years is 2021 >:v*)
its 8:12 PM, 18 of november, our brother, *has saved his comrade*
sadly enough, he got shotdown on the same mission while flying over a fort.
