    I glad you made this video because before I only found 1 BMW thread on a forum. It had great details and step by instructions. Along with a few pictures. I cannot stress how difficult it was to remove the motor mount. I had to stop and walk away a couple of times during this part. It almost broke me. Also what about pulling the fuse to make the DEF stop spraying?

      Yes, you have to reflash ecu. Reason I did not mention much in the video, tunner I have used asked for privacy, so I want to honor his decision. If you google bmw diesel tuners there quite few that come up, but definitely you will need ecu reflash along the hardware part.

    I've done a 2012 x5 35d American model and was a complete pain in the ass. I'm doing a second job on another x5 35d. I only used the down pipe. I re-used the the pipe were the DEF sprays in and worked great. I did NOT do any cutting at all. You have to order the European down pipe for an American made BMW. It works great and you can put plugs in were the O2 sensors went. You didn't explain the motor mount issue enough. There is a hidden bolt that you cannot see. You can barely feel it with your finger tips. I took off the front right passenger tire and a long extension to remove it. Once you get past removing the motor mount it all down hill. You didn't explain reprogramming the ECU after you are done. That the pipe company will lend you with deposit. What about the EGR block out kit ? Did you not do that also? Or did I miss out another video you made?

    • @MotorsportInspired
      @MotorsportInspired  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      2012 X5 35d is little bit different than 2015 x5 35d different engines m57 vs n57 very similar but there are differences on n57 you don’t have to worry about egr block off kit like you do on m57 you can just unplug it and code it out. I tried to demonstrate best I could in the video motor mount bolt wasn’t really that bad, got it with long extension and swivel, more of a pain was wrestling that big dpf can through that small space. Did not mention much about a tune since my tuner asked me not to. If you didn’t remove scr and def injector it will work sure for sometime until it gets clogged which it will since there’s no dpf and regeneration cycles no more, matter of time it’s not designed to handle soot alone with out dpf. Glad you like it 👍

    • @MotorsportInspired
      @MotorsportInspired  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nickanthony7057 as soon as you detach right engine mount you should be able to jack up the engine. Sensor syou have to remove otherwise you won’t be able to slide dpf out there no room for anything extra to be hanging on there. You can’t leave scr/car in once you take out dpf honeycomb is to dense it up will clog up within very short time and cause damage to turbo and other components, it’s not worth taking a chance we’re talking couple grand worth of damage if it clogs up.

    • @MotorsportInspired
      @MotorsportInspired  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I left def tanks intact there’s no benefit removing expect weight saving, which is not a priority it’s not a race car 😉 It’s a major project removing them not worth the hassle. Yes you can hollow dpf and reinstall it back into the car, infact that’s what they do in Europe to pass visual inspection. But thats pita as well getting that big can back in the car plus performance benefit will be slightly less that with a down pipe, but it’s totally doable if someone wants to.

    • @MotorsportInspired

      Unfortunately you can’t just do software without either gutting dpf or down pipe, becuase if you do that will cause even bigger problems, your dpf will basically clogg it’s self shut since there’s not regeneration cycle going on after software flash, it’s either you do both or mother at all, there’s no way around that even if your are not interested in performance aspect of it.

      Thanks 🙏, yes I did but later I welded high flow cat in place, did a video on that as well on the channel if you like you can check it out, you can’t leave the Oe in place because it will clog up and cause damage without dpf in place.

    • @MotorsportInspired

      Unfortunately no, the only thing you can do is trigger regeneration via dme which will help clear it up, but to physically clean it you have to take it out the car

      How many miles on the car? Did you ever change thermostat? Because if it’s faulty and engine doesn’t get over 74 celcius it will not enter regeneration mode therefore blocking dpf, it’s common issue that gets overlooked that’s why I ask because dpf is dependent on thermostat. I’m in new haven area.

    • @ryanwilson8324

      Replace with downpipe, midpipe and then tune, should be ~$1500... you want to look for a diesel tuner, the exhaust work itself is relatively simple.

    • @MotorsportInspired
      @MotorsportInspired  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I would do the delete much cheaper, better for the engine, better mpg and performance. Than replacing it with new part that will fail again down the road. Should be $1200-$1500 range. Depending which tune, down-pipe combo you go with.

      Egr delete is not necessary on n57 like it is on m57, you can just unplug it and flap will remain closed at all times works the same way as if it was removed and blocked off there no additional benefit from removing egr and it pain to remove. Just unplug it and that will do the trick. And it will work the same.
