Hi Sam! You have the most thorough, easy to understand tutorials out there! On other channels the host goes way too fast and assumes too much technical experience when so many of us (uhh... "classic") teachers are new to it! And with my subject (culinary arts) I have never really needed to use too much technology. Talking about cooking is like dancing about architecture. But anyway, I made my first EdPuzzle based on my own TH-cam demonstration video and it was awesome! Now I'm confident about EdPuzzle and will be using it again and again, and you get a lot of the credit, so thanks!
Thanks so much for sharing, Dana! I'm so glad you've found my videos helpful and that they've helped you learn how to use technology with your students!
Nice upgrade or replacement for lesson that include watching a video and then Q&A. Totally supports younger or easily distracted students by reducing the number of clicks to complete the task and gives immediate feedback.
Great video thank you for the excellent explanation of how Edpuzzle works. I have used Edpuzzle a lot in the last few years. My favorite thing about it is that it integrates nicely into Canvas LMS, and I have data on the questions answered by students and how much of the video students watched. If kids leave the video and open another window, the video will stop. The type of questions you can write is so easy to use. I usually use multiple-choice questions so kids will get immediate feedback. What a great tool! I'm a huge fan of Edpuzzle.
Thank you for another fabulous video, introducing us to a powerful new platform to add to our digital learning toolbox. Hearing you talk about why and how to use Ed Puzzle, as well as addressing what students see as users is very helpful information. On top of that you provide the text of your talk and hyperlinks from your web site. What a amazing contributor to the education community! You should get paid big bucks by school districts for this service.
Thank you so much for the effort you put into this video. It's the most clear and concise video on the topic that I've found so far! I'm definitely going to take a look at your other videos as well!
Hi, Sam. Thank you for such a thorough and inspiring video. Being new to me, I was able to learn how EdPuzzle works and how beneficial it would be to my students. Thank you again!

Hi Williams, like Colleen says, Loom is a great program for basic classroom tutorials. For my videos, I actually recently put out a video about how I do it! th-cam.com/video/qgtBjdu_usc/w-d-xo.html
Seriously, not even exaggerating a little bit. After only 10 days back in school, they expect us to know this and all the other Tech tricks to make digital teaching engaging and entertaining... Teachers have gone from teaching to becoming data analysts, to entertainers, and now we are expected to be Tech Intel... I actually got fussed at for not being able to assist a student who was on a desktop and couldn't hear me... Did I train in school for that? I don't think so lol and believe me if I could have helped her I would have because my heart is to help these children, and I legitimately got called on the carpet for not being able to fix it for her. I have subscribed and have learned more from your videos in one week than I learned in 24+ (I stopped counting) professional development classes this summer! I cannot, cannot thank you enough. You are a blessing! Thank you so much for these easy to understand and Implement lessons, you're making me look like a rockstar! :-)
I am seriously impressed with all the information. I am now structuring all the info. Just imagine that this info already exits more than 2 years. I am interested in Edpuzzle and Nearpod. I am currently not using Google classroom (the school has another platform). How do I get the videos made to that platform? Which tool did you use to make the starter kit video? I would really appreciate some feedback. Thank you so much Sam for all of your info. The starter kit was a great eye opener for me. I am now looking into getting a membership at the 21 century Edtech classroom.
What is the difference between the public and private setting on your content. Will students in your classes be able to see the video assignments if they are private?
Hello again, I have been looking for something like this for years so thank you for the clear and succinct video. How did I get to this video? Simple, I subscribed and received an excellent, well written and informative e mail. At this critical moment in our careers we can't afford to waste time trawling TH-cam for something that might fit or work with our students on-line so get in on the ground floor and show everyone you have hit the ground running.
Hi Ann, yes, you can add all of your classes without paying (unless they've changed the payment structure, though I'm pretty sure that's not the case).
Thank you so much for answering my quest for making my online classroom more interactive. I just have a question from your video on pear deck. Should the student have the chrome extension of pear deck to be able to log in?
I know your busy and everything you've done here is amazing , but I'm wondering if you could make a Student version for EdPuzzle...really more for parents, and I know it seems like something they shouldn't need...but the DO!! Silly students...gotta love them!
Another great tutorial. Thank you so much, Sam! I have become a big fan of New EdTech. Some LMS such as Canvas allows you to add embed questions in videos. But this is much more versatile.
Hi Sam- Thank you for all of your efforts! I tick the option to not allow students to fast forward. I'm wondering if there is an option for the students to go back and re-do the questions they missed once they have completed the entire video/quiz? Would they need to redo the entire video? In some circumstances, I would like for my students to be able to correct their errors to earn a better score. Thank you!
What did you use to make this video? I like how we can see you teaching while you are sharing your screen. Thank you for all of your videos! They are go helpful!

Thank you so much for this, and all of your great tutorials. I have one question Does EdPuzzle allow you to upload a Screencastify video that you have created? I appreciate all of your help!
Thanks, Sam, a great tutorial!! I was wondering....I do not use google classroom, so I don´t see and option where I can copy the assignment to my school LMS. Can you help me by writing just if it is possible to add the video assignment into my moodle class? Thanks in advance
Wonderful video, thanks for sharing. Even though you have mentioned what student will see, it would have been nice to have instructional videos specifically for students. So they can be directed to them.
Hi Daniel, I'm glad it was helpful! I'm not aware of any ability to combine videos. You'd have to do that outside of Edpuzzle and then upload the video that you made.
Have they changed the Assign portion? When I click assign, it assigns it to the class I chose, but I don't see the link there. I can find where to copy link though.
Curious if there is any way to use this within a live classroom meeting/ lesson with time constraint on students answering each question (30 sec) and proceed after that on to the next section as a class instead of what is shown here? What if you are using the same lesson with different classes over different days and you do not want to assign it to be completed by a particular day and time? Is this the wrong extension for the application? It seems if I use this extension to assign something, classes that I will not see for a day or three days will already have it assigned and tune-out during the time I show the video if the video is used during the live class meeting. It would be time consuming to go into this each time I want to change it for each class (class A monday 9:35 class ends, class B on Wed 1:30 another class ends...) and have them do it on their own time. Maybe that is the only way to do this? (thinking upper elem pe). Any suggestions?
You might want to look into Nearpod instead as it's pretty straight-forward to do what you're looking to for on their platform. I have another video about their interactive video feature: th-cam.com/video/_wsF9u1B0bU/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much its really help me for teaching online and I think I will still use it after Covid 19 end. Btw, what if I used e mail account which not connected to google classroom, can I still get the report which students watch and do the questions? Thank you in advance.
Is there a way to have students REDO an Edpuzzle assignment because they didn't do well the first time? Can you reassign it to that individual student? I love your channel! You have taugh me so much!!!! Thank you!!!
Hi Deanna, sorry for the long delay in responding here! For a student to redo the video, you'd have to reset their progress. Here's a short article about how to do it: support.edpuzzle.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012373491-How-to-Reset-Assignment-for-a-Student
Would you be willing to go through the same tutorial but for those without Google Classroom? I now work for K12, and they don’t use GC. I’ve subscribed to your channel. I just love it! Thank you, and keep them coming!
Hi Cathy, you don't need Google Classroom to use EdPuzzle and everything will work exactly the same in any Learning Management System. Even if your LMS doesn't have a direct integration with EdPuzzle, you can always just create a hyperlink back to it, if that makes sense.
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us. I am trying to select one video already created in edpuzzle but the option of assing is enabled (light gray color )What can I do to assign this kind of video to my students? Another doubt I have is how I can use edpuzzle with moodle. We do not use classroom. I inserted a video in this platform and I have noticed students can watch it and complete questions but How can I get the feedback? I have inserted the video inside a task in moodle, then they click on the task and have the video. Thank you again
Thank you Sam. I find your videos extremely helpful and I am now spreading the word about you channel as much as possible. Question. The last tip you showed using already generated content from other teachers. When you go to edit them, is Ed Puzzle making a copy for your own library or are you editing the authors' original?
You're welcome! Thanks so much for your support: I really appreciate it! If you "take" someone else's pre-created assignment, that creates a new assignment for your library. You don't have to worry about editing someone else's document.
You should be able to directly integrate the two, but if you’re having trouble, you can always just share the link to the Edpuzzle assignment in Canvas
Hi Abby, I actually recently put out a video about how I do it! th-cam.com/video/qgtBjdu_usc/w-d-xo.html The software I use is called Screenflow if you're interested in checking it out here: telestream.8bx6ag.net/c/2242743/352742/4900
If you use an areas made edpuzzle from another teacher, do you have to make a copy of it before you edit like you do with a shared google doc? Thanks- old dog learning new tricks
Thank you for this video. I am looking for software that will allow students to record their voice when answering a question embedded in the video. LIke, with Edpuzzle, it would be great if students could voice record their answers to open ended questions. Do you know of anything like that?
I teach kindergarten and at the beginning of the year if they are non-readers. If I wanted to customize a premade TH-cam math video and to insert questions throughout the video is there a feature in Ed puzzle for me to create sound for each question that I’m asking. For example I asked them to draw two apples and four bananas. How many do I have all together question am I able to type in the questions and hit an icon for the question to be read aloud to the student along with answer choices
Hi Stephanie, There is an option in EdPuzzle to create audio with a note, but not with an open-ended question or a multiple choice question. One work around would be to record your voice in a separate app or Extension and then adding the link as the question. It might a little tedious to do that, but it also might be your only option for achieving what you're looking to do.
Hello. I have noticed that some of the questions have solid colored tear drops and some have half colored tear drops. What is the significance of the different colored tear drops? Thank you.
Hi! I am a recent subscriber, and I’ve been really enjoying your videos. You give great ideas on what to do during this chaotic time. I have one question. After creating a video on the site, is it possible for students to use it completely independently from the EdPuzzle site? More specifically, could I upload a completed Edpuzzle to dropbox, then delete the video from the website, and still have students be able to use it with all its intended functionality? Sorry for the long winded question.
Thanks for your support! As far as I know (and from what I can tell from poking around a bit), it's not possible to download the video and retain its functionality since those are embedded Edpuzzle functions. If I'm wrong and someone else knows different, please chime in!
@@NewEdTechClassroom Hello again, Sam. Thank you kindly for answering my question. I suspected that would likely be the case (I couldn't imagine how it would work without being on the site!), but was just hoping. This looks like a great tool, so I will keep it in mind for future lessons. (By the way, I've recommended your channel to my colleagues. I hope they subscribe, too!)
How would you apply Ed Puzzle to a DVD that you own that isn't downloaded anywhere on the Internet. Would you record the DVD using Screencastify first?
PLease answer Thank you so much for this video I have a question Is it necessary to add the names of students? can we share link of Edpuzzle with children on whatapp or on moodle directly?will they be able to join thisway?
This was soooooo helpful -- I came for one specific question about assigning an EdPuzzle within a Google Slides assignment and you answered it perfectly! Actually really looking forward to using this with my 4th graders :)
Hi, to be honest I don't know much about Teams b/c I don't use Microsoft products, so I can't really speak to how much it's like GC. You might want to check out Holly Clark b/c she just wrote a book about integrating technology with Microsoft tools.
I use Microsoft Teams, so I would need to use the public link to the assignment. Does the link require students to sign in or have an Edpuzzle account? I'm trying to find platforms that don't require students to have an account to make it simpler, similar to how they can just type in their name when using Nearpod.
Hi, I like the way you explained EdPuzzle. Our school hasn't signed up for this easy to use website. My question is, when you upload or put a link from youtube, don't students be tempted to go directly to the channel by clicking on the youtube logo? Is there any way you can control or limit that? Thanks
Hi, If you create the assignment through EdPuzzle, it doesn't take them to TH-cam, just to the EdPuzzle portal where they watch the video and answer the questions. It would be up to the school admins to determine whether or not students had open access to TH-cam if they clicked on the logo.
Love your videos! I'm wondering if Edpuzzle automatically shows up as a grade in your google classroom grade book? I love this technology but I think I'd like to use the question feature as an ungraded formative assessment most of the time. Any tips on that?
Hi Sara, thanks so much! No, it won't automatically show up in GC. I also just use it as an ungraded formative assessment. No problems there! You can still login to EdPuzzle just to see whether or not they completed the work.
These videos are great resources, thank you so much! I love building in different mediums and interactivity whenever I can in my class. I teach post-secondary, and do not use google classroom but a different learning management system called Brightspace. I'm just wondering if you have any comments about using any of these tools (Edpuzzle, Jamboard, etc.) but not through google classroom?
Sure, you can definitely use all the tools with other LMSs. All Google Classroom can do is integrate student rosters, so it's not even a true integration. If all else fails, you can always just hyperlink out to assignments you create in EdPuzzle, Jamboard, et al.
Hi Teacher , i could not find that record voice over feature in my account instead there is a pop up message " Sorry! Voiceover is now blocked to comply with TH-cam's Terms of Service. Upload your own video to record voiceover " please advice
Thank you so much for this video I have a question Is it necessary to add the names of students? can we share link of Edpuzzle with children on whatapp or on moodle directly?will they be able to join thisway?
No, unfortunately. They don't have a program integration, and since Nearpod now also has interactive video, I'm sure they'll never integrate with Edpuzzle.

New EdTech Classroom okay. Thank you! I appreciate all this information you so freely give! Going from brick and mortar to virtual is quite a hop. 😉👍
Can you tell me which software program that Alisa is using in German Pod 101? I like the way she has the layers and transitions.
Sorry, I'm not sure what you're referring to!
Curious to see if EdPuzzle Projects can be shared with other students.
You can share video with other teachers and then they can be assigned to other students
Edpuzzle has changed a lot. How can I use it with canvas using the free version of edpuzzle?
You should be able to directly integrate the two, but if you’re having trouble, you can always just share the link to the Edpuzzle assignment in Canvas
What do you use to record your tutorial videos?
Hi Abby, I actually recently put out a video about how I do it! th-cam.com/video/qgtBjdu_usc/w-d-xo.html
The software I use is called Screenflow if you're interested in checking it out here: telestream.8bx6ag.net/c/2242743/352742/4900
Great video. Can students access Edpuzzle via their smart phones without downloading the app?
Thanks! I'm almost certain students will need to app in order to use Edpuzzle on an iOS or Android device.
If you use an areas made edpuzzle from another teacher, do you have to make a copy of it before you edit like you do with a shared google doc? Thanks- old dog learning new tricks
Hi Julie, once you add it to your content area, you can edit it as you'd like.
Thank you for this video. I am looking for software that will allow students to record their voice when answering a question embedded in the video. LIke, with Edpuzzle, it would be great if students could voice record their answers to open ended questions. Do you know of anything like that?
Hi, Patricia! You can do that with Edpuzzle! support.edpuzzle.com/hc/en-us/articles/4406796825357-How-do-I-record-an-audio-response-
I teach kindergarten and at the beginning of the year if they are non-readers.
Hi Stephanie,
There is an option in EdPuzzle to create audio with a note, but not with an open-ended question or a multiple choice question. One work around would be to record your voice in a separate app or Extension and then adding the link as the question. It might a little tedious to do that, but it also might be your only option for achieving what you're looking to do.
Great video - thank you!
Hello. I have noticed that some of the questions have solid colored tear drops and some have half colored tear drops. What is the significance of the different colored tear drops? Thank you.
I actually haven't noticed that before, but it's likely differentiating between multiple choice and open response questions.
I really appreciate that: thank you!
How would you apply Ed Puzzle to a DVD that you own that isn't downloaded anywhere on the Internet. Would you record the DVD using Screencastify first?
I couldn't officially recommend that b/c of copyright issues, but I do supposed it would work.
PLease answer
Thank you so much for this video
I have a question
Is it necessary to add the names of students? can we share link of Edpuzzle with children on whatapp or on moodle directly?will they be able to join thisway?
You don't have to add students' names, but if you don't, you won't be able to see a report of how they did.
Great Tutorial! One quick question: if I use public link" to share the assignment, can I still track the students' progress?
Thanks! No, you'll have to share it as an assignment that requires students to sign in if you want to track progress.
Can Edpuzzle be used similar to Flip? Where students can upload videos, and their classmates can watch and comment on each others videos?
This was soooooo helpful -- I came for one specific question about assigning an EdPuzzle within a Google Slides assignment and you answered it perfectly! Actually really looking forward to using this with my 4th graders :)
Awesome, Michelle! Have fun! :)
Hello, my friend can we use schoology and edpuzzle. Can I transfer my students from there to edpuzzle?
It looks like you can; check out this resource for more details - support.edpuzzle.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027999011-Using-Edpuzzle-With-Schoology
Bonjour Sam, is OneNote classroom (part of Microsoft Team package) like Google Classroom?
Hi, to be honest I don't know much about Teams b/c I don't use Microsoft products, so I can't really speak to how much it's like GC. You might want to check out Holly Clark b/c she just wrote a book about integrating technology with Microsoft tools.
Very informative dan clear. Tq for sharing.
You're welcome!
I use Microsoft Teams, so I would need to use the public link to the assignment. Does the link require students to sign in or have an Edpuzzle account? I'm trying to find platforms that don't require students to have an account to make it simpler, similar to how they can just type in their name when using Nearpod.
You can share Edpuzzle videos using a public link, but accessing videos that way won't store scores and you won't be able to run reports.
If you edit a pre-made Edpuzzle, does it save as your own in your Google drive? Does is alter the original?
No, it only saves it within Edpuzzle, and it doesn't alter the original.
Hi sam!
What screencasting app or tool do you use? Do you pay for a pro account?
Thanks a bunch!
For my classroom tutorials I use Screencastify, but for my TH-cam videos I use Screenflow.
@@NewEdTechClassroom I was wondering this too! Your tutorials are crafted REALLY well.
Upload your own video to record voiceover "
please advice
Yeah, you can't use the voiceover feature with TH-cam videos anymore for copyright reasons, I believe.
This is great! My only question is how to use with Schoology instead of GC?
Not a problem! support.edpuzzle.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027999011-Using-Edpuzzle-With-Schoology
New EdTech Classroom Thank you! That is very helpful!
Thank you so much for this video
I have a question
Is it necessary to add the names of students? can we share link of Edpuzzle with children on whatapp or on moodle directly?will they be able to join thisway?
You can share the video as a public video, but you won't be able to collect response data if you do it this way.
This was great. Thank you!
You're very welcome, Christina!
Great presentation! Thanks a lot!!!!
You are welcome! Glad you liked it.
Is there a way to use EdPuzzle with NearPod. I would love to use the Draw it boards to see the students work as I am using the EdPuzzle video.
No, unfortunately. They don't have a program integration, and since Nearpod now also has interactive video, I'm sure they'll never integrate with Edpuzzle.
this was AWESOME!!!!
Thanks, Brenda!
Very cool tool! Thanks for sharing!
Of course, thanks for watching!!
How do you add assignees name list is it manually or it's just a matter of a copy past ?
You can either manually add names or import the list of names. Have fun with Edpuzzle!
What if I don't want to create a classroom. Can I just add the link to a PowerPoint? Is this compatible with Microsoft teams?
Yes, you can, though it won't save their scores or run reports in Edpuzzle, so it definitely makes it less functional that way.
