    We are never too old to learn or too young to teach.
    Good teaching is not about having the right certification or knowing how to answer every question. It is about providing a space and structure and encouragement to help others learn because leaning alone is tough…
    It is about loving your subject and sharing it with others to help them pursue their own passion!!!❤️

    Hi Evgenii, thank you for all the advice and I am definitely going to use some of the apps. I just thought it good to mention that Minecraft for Education can not be accessed by schools/ teachers that do not have Microsoft/Office 365 school accounts. Our school is a Google school and unfortunately I was not able to access this program. I only found out after a couple of hours of struggling to download this program and waiting on emails from our admin to let me know that we do not have a Microsoft URL. Just to save others the time if they were trying to access this and normally have no clue, like me:) But thanks for all the other apps.

    • @edtechii
      @edtechii  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Alisja De Bruyn, thanks for taking your time to leave such a comprehensive comment in attempt to help other educators.
      Yes, you are absolutely right - Minecraft Education Edition (MEE) works only in conjunction with O365 education subscription. And I'm sorry you had to jump through the hoops to find out that you cannot use it.
      But despair you now, there is now (due to what's happeing) a way to get O365 education subscription for free. I've met an individual who was able to do it, and he was gentle enough to share the steps with me. This is how he described it to me:
      "I can give you the a vague outline. Most of what I did was to follow a series of prompts laid out by Microsoft.
      I believe I started here: education.minecraft.net/get-started/
      Near the top of the page, there is a section titled "Check To See If You Have An Account For Minecraft: Education EditionCheck To See If You Have An Account For Minecraft: Education Edition"
      I entered my school email, and it told me that my school was not set up with Microsoft. In some ways, that was helpful, as it meant I could just go forward on my own, without having to consult much with anyone else.
      There were then prompts that led me through the process of setting things up. The rough recipe was:
      - Set up a school account with Microsoft, with myself as admin
      - This includes a {school name}.onmicrosoft.com subdomain within the Microsoft ecosystem
      - It also includes an administrator account in my name on {school name}.onmicrosoft.com
      - Microsoft then asked me for my school's website. I gave it our domain.
      - Microsoft asked me to prove that I had ownership over that domain by making a small change to the records associated with our domain name through our name host
      - I contacted the person with access to those records, he made the change, and within a few hours, Microsoft had accepted that we were a school, and I was authorized to speak for the school.
      - Lastly, having been fully authorized, I used the web interface into Microsoft's system to create 3 teacher accounts and 14 students accounts. I gave that info to my co-teachers, and my students, and we were all then able to get into M:EE."
      Let me know if you need my help with it.
      Thanks!

    That was a wonderful compilation...Since I am a language teacher (Hindi) using google classroom can you suggest some apps which helps in taking assessment online for language other than english.

    • @edtechii
      @edtechii  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Saheem, thanks for your question. Off the top of my head, I can name only one app that supports multiple languages - Quizizz. Once you've created an account, there is an option to change the language.
      Unfortunately, it's quite difficult to find a decent educational application application that supports languages other than English. I faced the same issue when I was preparing a selection of education apps for teachers in Russia.
      I hope this information helps.

    Thanks so much. One comment is that your teaching style is also worth imitating. You explain clearly, review and will give us links to continue more in depth. My salvation during this time has been Peardeck. I teach high school Spanish. Any more suggestions for high school teachers? Thanks again

    • @edtechii
      @edtechii  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Sr Maria Francine Stacy, thanks for taking your time to leave a comment. May I ask you how you integrate Peardeck into your pedagogy?
      To answer your question, I will need to know more about the needs of your students and learning targets of your lessons. There is an oversupply of digital educational resources at the moment, to the point where their availability becomes a predicament. The last things I want is to overwhelm you by adding 20+ apps to your already busy schedule.
      If you can describe in a sentence what areas (curriculum, literacy, instruction, assessment, community building, etc.) you would like to enhance with technology and why, I will be able to advise a potential educational tool for your to explore.
      Thank you.

    • @srmariafrancinestacy7050
      @srmariafrancinestacy7050 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@edtechii Thanks for your response. Peardeck is very similar to what I find Nearpod to be (I went and reviewed it after your video). But I find it incredibly simple. I prepare Google slides for my class lesson and can include any kind of links on them. Then I put on the Peardeck add-on which allows the students to reply to a question I have on the slide. Many times this is so that they can practice the concept I just explained. After all the replies on it, I make it visible to the class and discuss the (anonymous) replies. Later, I go into the report and see the individual student responses. The replies may be through text or image (they love to draw even in high school!). This helped me present my classes on google meet everyday but continue teaching through peardeck which also allowed me to see how the students were responding.
      After watching your video, I went into a language teachers forum and saw what they are using but. much of it was for elementary ed as well. I need a really good way for students to chat so they can continue to converse with a partner as if they were in the language classroom without actually being together. Hope this makes sense. I am already appreciative of what you have shown me. Thanks again.

      I normally recommend Padlet to teachers who want their students to participate in online discussion boards. If you are not familiar with Padlet, I have two tutorials on my cannel to get you and your students started.

The reason I'm asking is because Microsoft owns Minecraft Education and you / your school needs to have O365 to be able to get it. If your school doesn't have O365, there is a way to apply and get it.

      You can film yourself with any camera e.g. Smartphone, GoPro, DSLR, mirrorless. As long as you have a footage of yourself, you are good. I use mirrorless camera because I like the quality of the footage it is able to capture.
      With regard to making a tutorial on it, there are many videos out there on video editing. If you think it will be beneficial, can you specify what exactly are you interested in so I can put aside a block of time and produce a video tutorial. Thanks.

      @@edtechii with so many teachers now having to do things differently...ie remotely...... district level personal need to put together tutorials just like you to show what they need to do......additionally I can see it working with teaching students as well. Like remote learning with being able to see the teacher and then also see the screen in order to teach the student but still have that connection

    Thank you so much for this wonderful video! I love using apps in my teaching. Which site/app would you recommend for eportfolios? I am looking for a platform that can be applied to children and teenagers as well. I am looking for a platform to store all the material I am producing for my online classes but also where I can see my students' replies and progress. I was checking Seesaw but I am not sure if it is completely free. What would you suggest?Thanks in advance!

      Hello Nanci, thanks for your comment.
      Seesaw is a wonderful app for collecting students' learning artefacts. Seesaw has two subscription plans: Basic Seesaw is free, Seesaw Plus is paid-for.

      ClassDojo is another app you can use a digital portfolio. More info here: classdojo.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009884732-What-is-ClassDojo-Portfolios-and-How-Does-it-Work-
