That kid has got it made... BUT in the proper way! WTG dad! Made him pay for the car, lets him work on it, took him to driving school. You can see they all appreciate what they have. Can't say that about some other people that have been featured, who just got loads of cash to burn...Thoroughly enjoyed the vid, thanks!
Honestly nothing wrong with people having their parents bought if for them, honestly I’ve never seen why everyone has to hate on people who get given their first car. There is no ‘proper way’ to have it made, but there IS a proper way toa ppreicate privilege and be grateful.
I truly admire this families budgeting. First time I heard of the $10k car rule and it absolutely makes sense especially in today's world where the newer cars have zero appeal.
I met the kid with that red E28 a few weeks ago before this video came out, he was on snake at night and the car was beautiful even in the dark. Very amiable fellow, love this episode.
***** My very first car was a BMW E28, it was euro 523i with the M10 engine strocked, I had to sell it, biggest mistake!! I am now looking to find another E28 to steal my heart again!! Cheers to you and your family Sir, i wish you all many many happy miles!! i will lie if i say i didnt tear up watching this Boris
Can you feel the feels that I'm feeling? Amazing video, almost reflects what my family will be like in a few yeras. We have 3 Mk2 Golfs; 1 is running perfect, 1 needs some work, and the other we plan to completely restore. Cant wait to get driving!
***** Who told you that MK 2 Golfs are shite? I've had a bunch of them, a bunch of A1 GTi, Bimmers and SAABs that's all I pretty much own... and the Golfs are great cars IMO. They are pretty ratty these days because folks drove them into the ground or didn't take good care of them but you find a good one and you got something nice.
I really like this video over a lot of the others - these cars are accessible, have a style and feel of being classic, the owners are relatable and the love their cars. Its not a super rich ego trip hipster fest like some of the other owners. Great family spirit - reminds me when my father, brother, sister and mother all had 1970's XB Ford Falcons in the driveway - my dad would work on them most weekends and we had something in common.
Nice cars, nice family. It's nice that they're teaching their son to be resposible and not spoiling him. I believe it gives kids a greater appreciation for things like cars when they have to work and pay for it rather than just giving it to them.
It's a great story and a better family. It's nice to see people appreciate things live value, reliability, and loyalty. Everyday people go into a dealer and drop $50k+ on a car just because they know the badge on the front and nothing else. Honestly, for $50k, what do you get in a new car today? 10 usb ports, 20 cup holder, and a 40" in-dash screen? In 10 years, the junkyards are going to lined with these types of cars.
Another very nice car-passion video, thanks for that! Sometimes when you see these old cars on the road, often rotten and not well taken care of, you can hardly imagine how much fun and stylish they can be, sometimes it is a pain to see how these cars are being treated...
Beautiful video! I absolutely love 80s BMWs and the e28s have a special place in my heart. It is great that these wonderful cars are getting the recognition they deserve and the deep passion they bring.
My first car in 2001 was a e28.... worked all summer to buy it full time as a 16 year old! Out of all the cars I have bought... this car is the best car I have ever bought! It had 83k miles on it and I restored it by hand from BAV Auto and I loved all the compliments I got on it! Wish I didn’t sell it!
All these years later and this is still one of my favorite videos to rewatch. Admiditly I am an e28 lover, but damn, title should have been 'a family of ultimate badasses'. Lol. Just love this
you guys make the best videos on how people should respect there cars but better yet they show us that with care, love and passion for what you drive any car/truck/motorcycle/bus/scooter can be timeless. Thank you Petrolicious
Great family, teaching the kid the value of things. I drive a Euro spec 1983 BMW e28 daily. It even has the original import documents from Germany. Love it.
Yeah right, as long as you buy into the story. Look at how that poor red one got pimped and call it passion or respect. It looks more like a spoiled brat toy. Guess he never touched a wrench or a screwdriver either. I’ve owned almost all pre 2000 types of bmw’s myself so it’s not about jealousy. I still daily a e28 to this day. This was not the talking of someone who knows bmw’s.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your wonderful life with the BMW community. Can wait to meet you guys in person soon. Yes dad I agree, you can't break an M5. You've got about 200,000 + miles more to go to catch up to my M5, but I know you'll get there smiling the whole way. Austin, your car makes me miss my US DOT bumpers....just a little.
So jealous. I live in Ireland so don't have the good weather to keep the rust at bay. I've an e28 520i since 2001 but unfortunately the dreaded tinworn has set up home and it's off the road since 2006. One lucky kid and one cool family. My dream is to own an E28 M5. Someday!!
God I miss my e28 535is. I waited so long for it. Sadly I totaled it, but it did pretty much save my wife and I's life. I am definitely getting another one if I can find a good one.
This has to be my all time favorite video. I love your passion and I can only wish my family was like yours. I saw that you read comments, so let me wish you all the best!
Coming from German bloodlines, owning German cars (Porsche 944, 1971 German Look Super Beetle under construction), and being a German automobile mechanic, I can appreciate this families passion for the brand. I hope to either own an e21 or e 28 in the future as well. Great videos Petrolicious.
I agree... I was really shocked by how the kid and the mom use the steering wheel. The Canyon road looks pretty nice and easy, but that's not a way to use your hands. Specially the mom... I would be scared to be a passenger.
I had a 1987 535 iSa for a couple years, it was on the TRX wheels and tires, which worked quite well. It did bring out the devil in me, I next got into Audi 5000CS Quattros, calmer cars that were great in less than perfect conditions, I loved driving in snow in them.
and the way she held her hands at the very top of the wheel(ish), not like some drivers do on the sides, not the way they teach you in the 10 and 2 position, but way up there like she is resting on the wheel, does not look safe! Loved the video other than some of her driving!
+Harrison Davis I'm glad you brought this up. Exactly my initial reaction. 10 and 2, 9 and 3 or even 8 and 4 would be better than 11 and 1. How can a driver have a feel for and react properly to what the front wheels are doing with both hands at the top of the wheel?
This dude is so lucky to have such a beautiful red BMW *_* I wish i could have such a car for my first car, but insurance costs a lot for these powerful cars, even if they are old :')
I have always wanted a Datsun 240z. It is probably my favorite car ever. Its a car my Dad has owned in the past, and it sounds amazing and its the most beautiful thing Iv ever seen. I had pushed this idea to the back of the top of for a long time. This video makes me want one so bad again.
Being passionate about E34's owning a clean one myself with BMW's in the family history, this story watered my eyes. This is such a beautiful family! Awesome dad, the kid is well raised, good taste, worked for his ride, none of that arrogant posing, boy ricer that you see these days... And the mom... Don't even get me started. Having such a beautiful mom driving an E28... I mean what more could a petrolhead ask for? Should I mention the cars? Not really, beautiful cars we can find in 3 secons on google, such a family though... Thank you guys for your story. Make sure to share yours on the bmw stories website, I did mine ;)
Absolutely beautiful 5s. All three. Love what you've done to the red 535. And very cool to see the whole family so passionate about these cars. :) Enjoy it!
2:00 wow having a family that supports you for who you are and doesn't make judgments... your lucky I have been raised in a family where being myself is a crime.
Great video, as always. Petrolicious just brings soul to these cars that no other youtube channel I subscribe to can do. I love this family, and it makes me happy to see other young people so in love with classic cars! Gives me hope for my generation, that maybe we won't let the classic car hobby die off.
I’ve owned fast and exotic cars, but I still keep an E28……it’s one of the most charming and fun cars ever imho. They are a brilliant drive, great handling, have amazing visibility, and great build quality. Great cars!
Great video. I wished my parents had the same appreciation for cars and especially the "fives" when I was that kids age. Ah well I got a 533i anyway and love it. Cool seeing one driven it's like watching mine from a distance.

Yes, certainly it is wrong ... Kids of 16 years should bike and stay or get fit ... And if the distance to school is to far, they can take the bus. What would become of our planet if every child in the world would get a car at 16 ...
@@nathanpetrohilos actually that's how advanced drivers are taught, you cut the corner to keep the car balanced through the corner, unless you cant see through the corner. Then it's a bad idea.
Every car has character, no matter how old it is or if it is shiny new. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to see. Too bad some people aren't able (or aren't willing) to see a car's character, especially for the reason that it is 'new'.
Not the biggest BMW fan in the world, but I've always liked the look of their '70s and '80s cars. Not sure if their current line up will age as gracefully though...

Onboard cam footage was insanely cool. I felt like i was in the back seat. Plz do more of this kind of footage. i could watch that forever
Aesthetically the red one definitely needs to be euro'ed
And...get rid of that awful roof rack and...definitely deserves a better driver.

justfakeit888 Only thing that would piss the Petrolicious comments off more is the mention of E85 an LS swaps lol.

This video is absolutely beautiful! Gorgeous E28s!
Man motivation right here to get to building my e28
More classic BMWs please! I love them. Getting an E30 next month. Can't wait...
i'm personally an E30 type of guy but this E28 is good too
Absolutely beautiful E28s. Makes me want to work on mine even more.
A clean moderately low mileage E28 M5 can easily fetch 40k now. That's amazing to see the inflation of value, the cleanest E28's can get up to 90k.
I love them all - but the early 528e here, is rarer to see in good shape than a 535is or M5 by far. Happy to see the right exhausts on all of them (rare) - proportional and not obnoxious. My 1st car was a 1984 533i, Alpine White and Cherry Red. I see the 528e has been fitted with the 533/633 `83-`84 steering wheel. Very nice video and rare family. Mom likes to cut those corners..
i thought the same thing, Terrible driving habit on public roads, disgusts me every time i see it
@@nathanpetrohilos actually that's how advanced drivers are taught, you cut the corner to keep the car balanced through the corner, unless you cant see through the corner. Then it's a bad idea.
Great story and each had their individual love of the 5.
One of my most favorite TH-cam channels!
Everything from cold war Germany is brilliant.. gotta love it
Glad to see you Petrolicious back!!
Love the 10k rule, same philosophy here
so many great stories on this channel. I need to got bed... maybe more.
Every car has character, no matter how old it is or if it is shiny new. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to see. Too bad some people aren't able (or aren't willing) to see a car's character, especially for the reason that it is 'new'.
This family is my dream.
Such a lucky kid. Also that roof rack looks amazing
You've done it again Petrolicious.
Not the biggest BMW fan in the world, but I've always liked the look of their '70s and '80s cars. Not sure if their current line up will age as gracefully though...
What a great family! I think mom is the best driver of all lmao
I had a 1984 528e as my first car - I paid $200 for it from my neighbor. Man I still miss that car...
As always, thank you for the film!
such a nice family story! really enjoyed that one :)
US bumpers look hideous compared to EURO bumpers.
Awesome cars though, love the E28
US bumpers really looks disgusting to be fair
Are american bumpers a law or can one replace an american for a euro bumper?
