    around '83 I think I found that boot and a few others going for nothing, $2, grabbed it... it was that time in Zep's career that no one really cared, Zeppelin fatigue had set in. Did I ever think there'd be a ZEPPELIN "revival" 50 yrs later, ABSOLUTELY NOT, but I am overjoyed at watching youngsters react to zep vids on youtube - A LOT OF FUN.

    I got to see the new Yardbirds five times between August 1969 and May 1977. If that sounds like I'm bragging, I am. I bought that Copenhagen Warm Ups second night triple album in the 80s and it's the best show played Zep played after 1977. A lot of people don't realize that after the last night of The Song Remains The Same shows the band only played 104 concerts in the next seven years, and three of those ended prematurely: the third of four Chicago shows '77, Tampa '77 and Nuremburg '80.

      Hey DagDrum brag all you want that is fantastic I wish I could say the same, would love to hear your stories. It is a great bootleg and I am very happy with it. I have thought about that on how many shows they did from day one to the last in Berlin. In the big picture of this when you think about it. To be at one of those shows was very lucky. My uncle was at the "Page gets food poisoning" show in Chicago. thanks for watching !!!

      @@zeppearl The pleasure's all mine, man. By my count Zep played 586 shows over a 12-year career. They were my first concert too, Aug 4 1969, the band's 149th gig, they'd been together 11 months. It was on the Monday before the Friday night Sharon Tate and three friends' lifespans ended. That night Zeppelin was staying in bungalows behind the Chateau Marmont because they were more private than inside the place where who knows what kind of debauchery took place. Richard Cole's book said those deaths scared the hell out of them, they were only a mile or so from Benedict Canyon. The band & crew immediately decamped to the Hyatt House further up the Strip where they could stay 8 or 9 floors above the street. But I digress, on that Monday three friends and I got to Fair Park ticketless and were told at the door the concert was sold out. We were walking away when a guy as old as my dad wearing a tie exited the venue and ran after us saying "Hey, where y'all going?" "We were told it was sold out." "It is but I've got some standing room only tickets." Even at 16 we were skeptical, especially since he had a roll of Admit One carnival tickets. "C'mon, they're only $4 apiece." "Yeah, but that ticket taker at the door ain't gonna let us in with hokey tickets like that." But the old boy said he'd get us inside and show us where to go and led us right by the guy on the door who didn't even blink. He took us inside, Fairpark is where they hold rodeos to this day, it's a round building with seats on concrete tiers. There are wide spaces that served as stairs. We went up about halfway and he said, "It's okay to sit on these stairs and if someone tells you you can't sit here because it's a fire hazard obstructing the exit just agree and move on to some other steps and sit there, it'll be okay." This was the kind of promotor Peter Grant would kick the crap out of for overselling a concert, not that Grant cared about fire hazards; the bone of contention was the promotor would pocket all the cash and Grant wouldn't get a penny of it. Anyway no one bothered us but I wasn't impressed with the band, they didn't sound like their record. But they weren't awful by any means. The next time I saw Zeppelin was two years later in Aug '71. They played half of Zep IV that night. Imagine the opening of notes of Stairway being played and no one clapping because they'd never heard it before. But Plant's voice was shot that night and again I was less than impressed. Two years later I saw them two nights in a row on the 1973 tour and I've never seen better concerts than those two. That is until 1977 when I saw the band in Houston. Recently a woman was shot and killed in that building, it was no longer the Summit but a megachurch now. Zep played so loud it sounded like two 747s in a hangar having a rack off contest. I saw them on a great night from the '77 tour and thought it every bit as good as the two concerts in 1973. Since I was too young for Vietnam I got to see all the San Francisco bands, Dylan, Purple, Stones, Floyd, Who, Grand Funk, 10 Years After, Sabbath, Johnny Winter and Rush when they still had their voices and their hair. The only bands who came close to playing live as well as Zep were Rush, Winter and The Who. In my opinion anyway. I'm almost 71 and hard rock still moves me as much as it did the first night I saw Zeppelin. My friends always joked that I could teach a college course on LZ so if you've got questions, feel free to ask. I also have all kinds of Zep memorabilia, I'm not talking handbills or glossy 8 by 10s either, I mean rock magazine stuff going back to 1969. I've got two three-ring binders crammed with stuff that the president of a Led Zeppelin fan club offered me a thousand dollars for in 1982 when I was unemployed and I told her no. This late in my life I'm not attached to any of it anymore and I swear my survivors will throw it in the trash.

I was 10 when LZ last toured the states and had no chance of going. I was all into KISS at the time. With no older siblings my uncle was the only one of age that was into rock and seen LZ in 75 & 77. You seen the best of the best as my concert going started in 1980 I have been doing videos about them on the channel. @@zeppearl I need to catalog my collection to be sure, looking at eBay I've seen junk compared to what I have so overpriced it'll be there till hell freezes over. If my house became suddenly endangered and I had to grab one thing it would an issue CREEM magazine put out right after Knebworth that collected virtually every article and picture they'd published to date about the band; the mag launched in 1969 so it's quite an overview. The first time I ever heard of the band was in late 1968 when Hit Parader ran a full page ad with the cover of Led Zeppelin. At that time I loved Blue Cheer's second album OutsideInside and Wheels of Fire. Led Zeppelin seemed far hipper than the dichotomy of Iron Butterfly. I can't recall if the ad also showed the group photo on the back of the album, but it was the coolest band name I'd ever heard and I knew I'd buy it long before it became available. Type in the LA forum 6-21- 1977 show and look for the download link as this show is the best performance ever of zeppelin especially bonham . Hope this helps . JD

    Some of those fake song titles are pretty funny. One time, I was at a concert and amused myself between sets coming up with alternate/bad versions of song titles without changing the meaning. I'm not a physical collector, but I was into Zep bootleg trading back in the day. Melancholy Danish Pageboys on CD was one of the first ones I got. I thought it was a pretty good recording considering how tricky audience recordings can be. The famous Millard recordings made it seem easy, but I'm sure it was far from it to get really good sound that way. I listened to that Copenhagen show quite a bit. Definitely not a tough listen, especially with Achilles Last Stand and In the Evening on there.. Fun bit of trivia to go with that, I got that one right around the time CD burners were getting more common. I finally had one of those and a friend of mine was neighbors with the drummer from Anthrax, so I made the copy of that show and a few others from the silver CDs he had. I was happy to just have the audio, so it was a nice arrangement and also helped with trading since I had some more to offer people.
    Another small thing, that same concert I referenced above was a Judas Priest show in 2009 and I remember they had a light show on that tour and it wasn't working right that night. I know that because I saw them again the next day and everything was working. I thought it was just a bunch of random lasers, but I saw the second night it was some animated imagery. The Copehagen light problems Zep was having reminds me of that.

    That one little snippet sounds better than the Knebworth shows. I used to have that 2nd show album and I gave it away. Dumb huh?

    Zeppearl that sounded horrible. That must be a tenth generation recording Its not your fault .I know.

    • @zeppearl
      @zeppearl  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well in fairness its the camera mic picking the sound from speakers. But yes probably a few generation pressings later got it in mid 80s.

      I bought Melancholy Danish Pageboys in 1982 or 1983...can't remember. It was £25 I think and I've avoided playing it too much. The sound quality on mine is very good though. As for the lighting rig, most of it was too big to fit in the Falconer Theatre which wasn't apparent until they tried! Thanks for the vid, I've never seen another copy until now, the band were on very good form 👍.

      @@zeppearl Thanks fella, I was actually responding about the sound quality to @raykopp9522 who said it sounded 'Horrible'. Mine is excellent quality as I said, I have been wondering how much it's worth although I wouldn't sell it. I only live down the road from Jimmy Page...... don't get the wrong idea, I'm in Hammersmith he's off Kensington High Street by Holland Park a little posher! 🤣. Maybe I should pop down and see him with my copy, he might not have one 👍😊.

    I believe the first generation , original boot was " The Legendary Danish Pageboys Get It On " I have the first pressing (master) of knebworth. boot . It is crystal clear . An audience version followed and was not to clear.tape speed was also off.
