You just don't appreciate it enough until there is less ahead of you than behind you. You don't see it coming for you , but it does just the same. I'm 60 now and I tell you it went by in a blur...I was wondering how many of these people in he video were still around..
Bonham didn't look like a very big guy until he got behind those drums, then he was a beast! That's when he was bigger than any man in the room, even when he was sitting down! A man who kicks that hard sitting down was a mighty big man!! RIP King of the drums Bonham!

i was there. we had just landed from the u.s. and saw a pole poster about this festival. we set out to hitch to it from london and got picked up by the hell's angels. good thing too since we had no tickets or any clue how we were going to get in. we just rolled through the stage entrance. oh to be that young again and see led zep in their prime (my first time) and all of that music for free.
This generation was way cooler than kids now.Im just a decade behind but even my peers were like little brothers to this crowd.Zepplin is still the greatest band Ever

I've collected Zeppelin footage for years.....THIS REALLY IS "SOMETHING ELSE" they sure are pure and fresh ...didn't they turn down a big gig in the U.S that was going to be broadcast via a satellite link ? but they flew back to do Bath,great shots of the crowd here.Its beautiful.Its Bath '70 .
Plant really knew how to work it!! From head to toe. Those heels he had on were very cool. My folks wouldn't let me go to concerts. By the time I could, Led Zeppelin tossed around the idea of a reunion but agonizingly, they never did. No one was sorrier than me.
150,000 attendance at this one @ Shepton Mallet Showground. The previous year it was 30,000, right in Bath at the Recreational Ground and for one day only. Great line up for that one too. I went to the one in 1969, but didn't go in 1970. The Isle Of Wight was my 1970 festival! 😀

this and the Tokyo '71 footage are the most significant new Zeppelin footage to emerge since the DVD was released in 2003, it's insane how long this was kept in the vaults
I was at that Festifal, it was at Shepton Mallet and was The Bath Festival Of Jazz & Progressive Music it starred, Pink Floyd, The Moody Blues, Donovan, Jefferson Aeroplane, Hot Tuna, Country Joe and The Fish plus others that I can't remember (Drugs lol). It lasted for 3 days, this was pre Glastonbury, happy days.
There was a wall poster of this show being sold around 1972-73. I found one on eBay and had it restored. It took me many years to find it. My Zep treasure!
It's a pity that the sound quality was poor or no sound because the footage was awesome, just took a walk back in time. Haven't seen that one before and very early days thanks for uploading, cheers👍
@@juliemanarin4127 It was supposed to come out a few years ago, but Jimmy didn’t like the finished product, so it went back into editing. There’s been a lot more talk about it recently mentioning new footage added etc, like Bath, so I got my fingers crossed it will be soon!

The early Glastonbury, 3 years before I was born. Was there when they returned in 95, literally had to fight my through to the front. It was shoulder to shoulder strong no space 50 people back. Had a mission to be on the first line had to settle for about 8th or 7th. It was great Michael Eavis came out did this whole presentation thing. I coulda strolled through that crowd to the front.

Interesting, there is a pro camera center stage looking right at the band in this film...there was no big screen video during concerts back then, so it can't be a 'video feed', where is that treasure? Also have to comment (again) on Jimmy's Les Paul, is this really number 1? At 5:18 in the film, we get a great close up of the guitar, and on the pick guard (I know pick guard can and do get replaced - but Page never talked about this is any of his books), but on the pick guard is 'something' (almost looks like an emblem of something) but it is certainly not a screw to hold the pick guard on. In Jimmy Page's The Anthology book no photos of number 1 do not have this 'emblem' and in the book he shared several photos of number 1 at the time he first owned it (1969) through the 1970 US Tour. At least one photo in the book is from Bath 1970, and the 'emblem' is there. He never mentioned (in the book) that he used 'loaner' instruments, but he does not state he used number 1 at Bath 1970 either (like he does for several other shows he shared photos from in 1969 and 1970 in the book). He does not mention this 'emblem' at all in the book, but it is there, so I say it's gotta be number 1 in the video. But maybe, for some reason, Alvin Lee, or Beck or Donovan or Joe Blow said 'hey jimmy try my les paul tonight? That 'emblem' just bothers me, Jimmy please explain to us?

That drum set was on display at the Rhythm Discovery Center in Indianapolis. I met his tech, Jeff Ocheltree, while he was setting it up. It's still in his possession. He rewrapped the 18" floortom because of the burn marks when John would put his cigarettes out on it. He said he regrets doing that because it was a piece of history. It also had the infamous squeaky kick drum pedal that was heard on "Since I've Been Loving You" original recording. Jimmy said "...that fucking squeaky pedal!" Somewhere I have 100s of detailed photos I took of it - after I was allowed to play it (I have photos of that too!)
Sadly Jeff Ocheltree is a bit of a fraud and it isn’t clear on if the kit he owns is actually Bonham’s or not. Jason Bonham said Ocheltree never worked with his father and photos (and interviews) would confirm Mick Hinton as his tech in the latter days. At least one of his green sparkle kits resides at Old Hyde.
I missed Zep Live. 1981 Pittsburgh Sept 25th. My birthday . A Friday . Tickets were going to go on sale Monday and news comes over the small radio we had in our 7th period art class that Bonzo had died . My birthday sucked but me and my ZepHeads made the best of it with a Kegger that night and some doobs and Cranking out Physical Graffiti back in the sticks .

I read a recent interview that Kino removed this footage from their TH-cam channel due to its inclusion in the Becoming Led Zeppelin documentary.
Standing at side of stage at 13:40 must have been like standing next to a jet engine or tornado watching Zep in their prime!✈️🌪️🎸🤘
And to think we thought the stones roses wore bucket hats first. Zep were original in every way.

That drum set was on display at the Rhythm Discovery Center in Indianapolis. I met his tech, Jeff Ocheltree, while he was setting it up. It's still in his possession. He rewrapped the 18" floortom because of the burn marks when John would put his cigarettes out on it. He said he regrets doing that because it was a piece of history. It also had the infamous squeaky kick drum pedal that was heard on "Since I've Been Loving You" original recording. Jimmy said "...that fucking squeaky pedal!" Somewhere I have 100s of detailed photos I took of it - after I was allowed to play it (I have photos of that too!)
Sadly Jeff Ocheltree is a bit of a fraud and it isn’t clear on if the kit he owns is actually Bonham’s or not. Jason Bonham said Ocheltree never worked with his father and photos (and interviews) would confirm Mick Hinton as his tech in the latter days. At least one of his green sparkle kits resides at Old Hyde.
