I never had the 365, but I knew the moment I picked up the 365 XL it was the perfect EDC for me. 1000 rounds later and my opinion has not changed.
We keep going in circles, going small then decide to go bigger again. The extra size (even with extra capacity) goes against the concealability advantage the 365 offers. Unless someone's hands are large enough to make a significant difference in comfort the 365 is the way to go IMO. 10 rounds in such a small package is still worth it.

I have the p365xl and it conceals very well. I absolutely love it. The regular p365 was just a tad too small. To each their own.
It's marketing. Always has been, always will be. They make whatever people will buy.
Owned both and ultimately settled on the XL with Wilson Combat grip module. Also swapped out front sight for Night Fision tritium front sight. EDC with Federal 150 grain HST.
Can't go wrong with HST
Xl hands down. It's perfect. Grip, flat trigger, redot, decent mag cap still very concealable & accurate
365 x is the best of both worlds. Its amazing
365x with a HS507k x2 is amazing. With that being said, for me, using a 365xl makes no sense
365x is perfect if you don’t have either one. 365 barrel with full grip
Highly recommend getting the MagGuts kit. It's easier to hand load and adds 2 more rounds for 12+1 on the P365 and 14+1 on the P365XL.
I was blown away at how accurate the 365 was right out of the box.
I started with the P365 SAS, ended up using the macro upper on the P365. Selling the SAS slide. Thanks for the videos. 😊
Did the exact same transition. Got both in NRA edition. Just for the FDE color. Running Fed HST 150g

I have both. The longer grip helps greatly with a more secure draw. Longer slide helps with velocity & accuracy. For pocket Carry I use the P365. Out of the pocket the P365XL is a better choice with the benefits stated above for an unnoticeable difference in weight.
BTW, I had feeding issues in my standard P365 with Fort Scott TUI 9mm. Might be something worth testing.
I have a sig p365, ordered a Wilson combat p365 XL grip. Custom milled the slide so that I can keep the rear sight, front slide coats and a Cobra cut. I'm running a Hall of Sun 407 GX2. Custom flat blade trigger a threaded barrel by rival and a Griffin armament micro comp. I also own a sig p365 XL that has a Romeo zero on it. I enjoy this 365 slide because I can have the threaded barrel in the microcomp and it's about the same length as the XL.
The XLs magazine doesn't project enough from the grip frame. It is just a bit too short causing magazine seating problems. Magguts makes a +2 kit for the 12 round magazine. This adds about a quarter of an inch length to the mag and gives a 14 round capacity. Mine work really well.
I have handled the 365, I used to work at a FFL and sold one to a cop (live and worked in CA) and he was a large man. 6’4” at least, lookin like he was 250, just a huge guy and he wanted a sun compact and he had huge hands. When I showed him the regular 365, he instantly fell in love. The XL is cool and I wouldn’t mind buying a grip module and slide kit to change it over whenever I feel like it, but it at the end of the day is just preference. I love how you still give your preference but also solid info about both guns
It’s absolutely pisses me off that cops don’t have to follow the CA pistol roster! Should of made him buy an old 1.0 shield or G26 like the rest of the peasants! I’m glad I left that screwed up state!
I'm a smaller framed guy, and ive had both as well as the 365 Macro, and I've come full circle back to the gen 1, 365 with the 12 round ext mags and Magguts Extension to give me the options of 10, 12, or 14 rounds in the gen1. Paired with the Streamlight/laser TLR6 and a Houge Grip, I can go all day every day twice on Sunday concealing and not even feel this pistol on me. Over 2,000 rounds with zero issues.
The beaver tail on the 365xl is not anything to worry about.
I carry the xl during work, and my co worker for 2 weeks didn’t even know I was carrying.
I have the Sig P365 & I got 12 round Mags. it adds enough length to eliminate that problem of less grip to the Mag. At that time I paid around $100 plus shipping for 3 Mags,. I think IMO that's less than buying another pistol even though the XL has a slightly longer length barrel. Just saying.

Out of 6k rounds, across 3 different XL'S that I own, I've had one malfunction.
At the Range, In my wife's hands, completely dry while horribly dirty, with crappy ammo, my carry XL stove piped,,,, once. Put some oil in it and away she went, not another issue. Because of how well I can shoot the XL's, I have stopped looking for or at other handguns and sold off everything else besides my STACCATO.
The Romeo Zero has a fixed rear sight built into it. Taller sights would be easier, but it works ok for backups on my 365X.
Hellcat w/ 15 rd mag about the size of the xl or 13 rd mag about the size of the 365. The hellcat grip is slightly less rounded making it hard for the gun to rotate in your hand, the 365 is really comfortable but so rounded it moves more and is harder to get a good grip. Springfield did it better for me, almost feels boxy like a Glock but with a more neutral grip angle.

Well done. Looked hard at 365 for my daughter but she ended up getting the Max9. No regrets. But the 365 & the XL are still fine carry options. My wife is still considering the XL to replace the Shield 45.
Check out the Taurus tx4, it’s cheaper and recoils less than the max9
I have 2 shield .45’s… very snappy😂. Rather carry the m&p 2.0 .45.. this is why i may be changing over to the p320 i just got. Gotta put a few more rounds through it before i decide to carry
Pistol RDS Speed: On paper RDS and irons are about the same for me too, but in force-on-force I have found RDS to be a lot faster. This could be bro science but I think it’s because my eyes are more focused on the big world than the small front site post.
I stopped using my 365 for edc and use it for backup now. The 365 XL is now edc it shoots much better and faster than the smaller gun.
You might consider screwing a comp (12 o'clock vent only, no sides so you can shoot from a retention position) and see how that works. That might prove to be more appealing (and less expensive) than going the XL route. I have the XL and love it. For me, it's like a slightly smaller G19. The regular P365 was way too small for me. My thumb on my support hand was right up to the end of the slide when I had a proper grip. The XL doesn't present that problem. Thanks for taking the time.

The XL doesn't fit in my pocket. I need pocket concealment because I need deep concealment. I'll stick with my 365. I use the shorty mag in pocket. My pinky finger hangs but it doesn't cause problems with shooting. Just enough room without being too tight to draw. Also, I don't run optics on concealed carry. Keep it simple and small. All this said, to each their own.
I’ve been happy with the same NRA P365 in FDE but I put the Sig flat face trigger in and swapped the grip module with the XL module for a full grip essentially making it a P365X.
@Frank Bonazza III true but I don’t want to carry with an optic.
Magguts makes a +2 kit for the 365XL. Gives you 14 rounds with very little additional length. Works good.
I think the difference in width is the mag well on the xl grip
The width difference between the two is the slight flared mag well on the XL I believe.

I bought one today with the Romeo Zero on it. I'll pick it up tomorrow and planning on going to test it out at the range. Best part, only cost me $150, I had $600 in points on my Cabela's visa card. It'll be nice to have something a little smaller than my P320c for concealed carry. Also planning to use it for the 2022 P365 EDC Championship at the Sig Sauer Academy in August.
@Frank Bonazza III just finished at the range, it was not too bad, glad there wee Sindhi their members in and out, learned a lot about shooting with the red dot. I have it taped over and using one eye on the dot, the other in the target.
Simple solution 365XL frame with 365 slide. Done. Best of both. The older model frame was way to small for anyone with Alpha hands. Beta may go with 10 rounded 365 frame.
I prefer the XL and I use the 15 round mags. It is a great gun
M&P Shield Plus optic ready nuff said!
Wilson Combat has a grip frame for both of those models that increases grip circumference so they fit larger hands.
I have wanted a 365xl for a while but on Black Friday my gun shop had Glock 43x for 409 bucks and 35 bucks for a shield 15 round mag..... so that’s what I’m rocking.
Great combination as well. Glock 43X or 48 with Shield mags are superb.
P365 gives the smallest footprint. However, if desired... you can use the 12-round magazine in the P365. It then gives a grip size that is more comfortable... but can also get small by going back to the 10-round. If you want to add an optic? Sig even sells the slide-only (P365X) to add a slide that fits exactly on the smaller P365. So... you can go small with the small 10-round magazine. Or... you can add a 12-round magazine to the smaller P365 (which gives a grip that is the length of the P365XL). IMHO... Best of both worlds.
@Frank Bonazza III... The 365X (if I remember correctly) has the longer grip. I like the option of having the shorter grip.
The new xl spectre the optics plate is in front of the rear sight and the sight is dovetailed
I think the p365 is the best carry gun on the market, period. Very hard to beat.
You can definitely keep the BUIS, plenty of companies managing to mill a cutout for RMRcc or 407k footprints and keeping the rear BUIS. As for what to do if you lose your dot, you can paint a line on the back of your RDS for a ball on post sighting system that should work for close up work and at the end of the day people should learn how to shoot inside 25 yards with no sights at all.

Yes, the P365XL is incredibly comfortable…for me. I had to consider the P365 “too small” because of the need to use the pinky rest to get a full grip. I experienced that 10 years ago with my M&P 9c…and didn’t feel comfortable with that at all. More recently, I gritted my teeth and stuck with my nice shooting Walther PPS M2 until this P 365XL came out. Man, this is The One Carry Pistol To Rule Them All (disclaimer: I fully realize that’s “for me”). I get a full grip and it shoots more like a range gun (read: very comfortable to shoot) than that tiny carry pistol no one likes to shoot. Yes, I carried a S&W Chief’s Airweight back in the day and nobody wanted to practice with those. Anyway, throw on a Holosun 407 or 507K and you are set.

I was want the spectre comp, but you lose velocity with shorter barrel and comp. Might not seem like much, but 9mm aint that fast to begin with and for ME…. It makes sense to have the longer barrel in the XL if the 365 was what i carried.. a big guy with couple layers of clothing might appreciate getting shot with the spectre comp😂
Just got a new P365XL TacPac, Sig found a way to keep the rear sight and make it optic ready.
Holosun 507k has built in rear irons.
I went to a local store and put both the 365 and 365L in my hand and Glock 43 and 43X
I wear xl gloves and going the Sig’s grip to small.
Also don’t know if this is a size gun I need. Still on the fence.
Own both carry both at different times
The 507k has a rear sight built into it.
Luckily they managed to fit a rear sight and the optic in front of it so you can have backups if your optic fails.
Considering sig just released the spectre comp with the plate moved forward...I think they figured it out themselves how to keep that rear sight
I bought mine about a year and a half ago awesome pistolvery comfortable especially when I iwb carry but I ordered the hogue grip for it the grip seemed to small so the grip helped
You may want to check out the Wilson Combat grips. Adds a little more girth to the grip.

I’ve carried both but went back to the standard 365. I carry appendix and found the extra length of the XL pokes my frank & beans. Also I wish Sig had designed the XL and X to keep the rear sight when an optic is installed. I find it hard to pick up the dot when you don’t have a rear sight to reference to.
Why do people want yo force the optic closer to the ejection port to keep the rear sight? Why not get a romeo zero or holosun which both have a rear sight for you plus it doesn't obstruct the red dot window

For the same reason some like running fixed sights with a red dot on their AR’s. We are trained to use the irons. I have a Holosun 507K big button on my XL and I wouldn’t call that little notch a rear sight.

Romeo zero comes with a built in backup rear sight.
Actually the Romeo red dot incorporates a rear sight.
I carry the 365 with flush mag and a spare 15rd. I bought a 365XL for funzies. Love them both but the 365 is better for me. I'm 5'10", 132lbs. Anything bigger and it's gets difficult for me to conceal.
I weigh 132lbs but I'm 5'7. For me clothing makes the biggest difference and I have to carry appendix

Just got a p320 axg custom classic. My first 320. Had the 365 but sold it. Now im trying to decide between the XL or the 320 compact for back up. XL still seems too small yet the 320 aint much smaller than the 320 carry model🤷🏻😭🤷🏻
To anyone who owns the XL, how is the recoil/snappiness? I am looking for a first handgun to use for home defense and EDC (probably mostly home defense though). Another gun I am looking at is the M18.
The p365xl is a little more snappy and recoil is about 10 -15% increased, but is still manageable.
The Romeo zero has rear sights on it.
Put the holosun 507k on that buy a Gray Guns laser stippeled frame and your good.
@Frank Bonazza III I wanted a gray ceracoat and at the time I don't think wilson was doing them. My original frame was loose and had a clicking that distracting

Does the Reg 365 with the larger Mag feel the same in hand as the XL with standard mag?
This is something I have played with. The XL grip does feel better than the 12 round extension and it stops you from pinching your palm as easily during reloads.
Where'd you get the barrel on the tan one?

I don't like how narrow the grip is backstrap to front strap. I so like the xl and have shot one. But, it just feels to small in my hand. Went with the 43x
Get the Wilson combat grip. It solved that for me. Love mine

Uh, put a Holosun 407k or 507k on there and you’ll have the perfect setup with rear irons built into the optic. Go Holosun man, way better than the swampfox.
