    Great Review as always Lauren. However, I'm gonna have to Zonk the new Pilot. Compared to the new Toyota Grand Highlander, it misses on many different levels. A 9" infotainment display? What a huge miss... especially when you can get the 12.25" in the new Accord. The leaders in this segment offer 12.25". It's like Honda is crying out for help by saying "We just can't beat the Kia and Toyota... so I'll admit defeat by putting in a 9" display". No heads up display, either. No digital driver's instrumentation cluster. I'm sure the 3rd row and total overall cargo capacity is well below Kia/Hyundai offerings and much less than the Grand Highlander. No heated or ventilated 2nd row seats. Again Grd Highlander beats this. Yes they did the passenger side storage tray on the dash.. yet Grd Highlander ups the anty by adding a USB charging port there so the passenger can charge an ipad or cell phone in a very convenient manner. I'm not sold on the larger cup holders comment. It still doesn't look like it compares to the Grd Highlander design where it has a spot for 2 cups and 1 large Yeti or Sport Bottle spot. Again, just not up to par with the best of the best. The interior fit n finish does look fantastic and Honda did a great job on that part. So overall, a great vehicle that brings it up to maybe 4th or 3rd place in the SUV segment behind the Grd Highlander, Kia/Hyundai Telluride/Pallisade, and the newly designed Mazda CX-90. This is a VERY competative market and it is very exciting to see each of the manufacturer's try to out-do their competitors each year. One year it's Kia, the next is Honda, then Toyota leapfrogs them all... Mazda playing hard-ball with the new CX-90... can't wait to see what 2025 and 2026 will look like...

      Thanks for the compliment and your perspective. I do agree with you. But the Kia Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade really are the leaders in the category. They offer the longest warranty and the most for your money. It’s hard to beat that. We’ve only seen the Toyota grand Highlander, it’s going to be a big success for them. I don’t think their price is going to be what Kia and Hyundai are offering. But we shall see you when we get all the details and a test drive.

      @Taylor.Watson ปีที่แล้ว +71

      This comment is almost ENTIRELY wrong.
      - there is a HUD
      - there is heated second row seats
      - the pilot has larger third row seats than either Korean twin car
      - the pilot has USBs in all the rows
      - the pilot has MORE cup holders than the grand highlander
      - the pilot has significantly more total cargo space than the grand highlander.
      No idea where this dude got his information but he’s hilariously wrong on almost every single point.

    • @jameslee5237
      @jameslee5237 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Taylor.Watson Agree with you. On cargo space, I think it'll be similar between the two - the specs do lie. I'm 99% sure the max cargo space given for the Pilot is with the front seats all the way forward (undriveable position). Unclear what the Grand Highlander cargo spec is based on, but Toyota has also been caught fibbing in the past on other models (saying the space for the 3rd row should be counted as cargo even though it would need to be unbolted from the car).

    • @briandenisefarmer333
      @briandenisefarmer333 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Taylor.Watson well this dude can admit that i was incorrect on the HUD display and digital dash.. My bad... i didn't hear Lauren mention it and may have missed it if she did. .. so I didn't do my own homework on that one. The cargo capacity behind the 1st row seats is essentially the same at 87 cuft with the Korean twins.. so that too was something I picked up from another channel that had the Korean Twins at #2 in Cargo Space... so they may have been wrong in not included the '23 Pilot cargo figures. My facts are correct that the Grand Highlander has 98 cu ft of cargo space behind 1st row seats as i mentioned. The Pilot has 87... So i'm not sure how you state this in your last bullet point that the Honda has 'significantly' more total cargo space than the GH. The GH does offer 2nd row Ventilated seats that the Honda does not... so I should have been more specific in my wording by saying 'Heated & Ventilated' seats rather than saying 'Heated or Ventilated' ... Secondly, I only compared certain items... never mentioned anything about quantity of cup-holders I only mentioned the one 'Big' one that Toyota employed that can be used for a large bottle or thermos or Yeti type bottles in the GH.. Which the Honda doesn't have. If you carry those types of containers, they wouldn't fit in any of the 78 cup holders in the Honda. It's the point that the Toyota designers wanted to add to accommodate a certain customer base who needs one of those types of 'cup' holders. I also never mentioned anything about the number of USB ports in any row... I was only pointing out a very convenient feature of one specific USB port up next to the tray area on the passenger side dash. Another designed convenience touch that the designers are thinking about and i'm sure sourced from feedback of Toyota customers. So not sure why that is listed as a comment that i would have been ENTIRELY wrong on when in fact it was only an opinion of the convenience of where the USB port was placed. So... hilariously wrong on almost every single part? Hardly... but understand your attempt to belittle. Although i didn't see any comment about my first and most biggest point about the 9" small infotainment system. Many people who do car reviews on TH-cam have commented about this miss on Honda's part. I'm simply pointing that fact out here on this channel. I'll still stick to my accurate points i made about the comparison of both vehicles... short of the HUD/dig dash and more cargo room from the Korean twins. But that's okay if you still disagree... I can't wait for the side-by-side comparisons of the rest of these two vehicles. Fuel Economy, interior sound levels, 0-60 performance... and the other attributes that these vehicle professionals do when comparing the overall quality of each.
      Funny thing is... I'm a proud Honda owner of a 2008 Accord with 300,000 miles on it and did mention that the Pilot is "a great vehicle".

    Chose this over the highlander this time to replace girlfriend's rav 4, because of the naturally aspirated V6.
    I tow my ATVs into the mountains, I don't trust a turbo 4. The trailsport was perfect because even though we don't go offroading, ATV trailheads are dirt roads with ruts.
    Even dented a gas tank last year and messed up my fuel system, so the skid plates will be perfect.

    It's 2023 and Honda still doesn't offer a hybride? How can that be? The entire country has literally been whining about the gas prices, yet people want a V6 engine.

    By the time the Honda engine dies you will have been through 3 Kia ones. Nough" said.

    You need to google the difference between USB type C and USB type A. You're spreading some misinformation here.

    On the outside, it just looks dated. Center console is too small, should be at least 11inch.

    Guess I am getting old because I don't care about screen size or meaningless tech. kia dealership troubles and build quality, would always take a Honda over a kia.

      1960s-1970s mama and daddy's drove station wagons. Late 1980s and 1990s they drove minivans.
      I'd take the Pilot over those vehicles. Although that Odyssey is still impressive.
