quick question regarding these new 3.5L V6: are they direct & port injected or just direct injected? if direct injected only, did Honda do anything to reduce / eliminate valve gunk / sut build up?
Direct injection only and nothing was addressed for the carbon build up. I’ve had a few tlx type S intake manifolds out and they all have some buildup already.
What's the difference? The 2023 Pilot 4th Gen has the Double Wishbone Suspension now. The 3rd Gen did not have it. My old 2nd Gen TL has it and previous 90s Accords had. Does the 2023 Pilot TrailSport have the same Double Wishbone Suspension.

@@BCautosolutions I thought the MDX had double wishbone and that the '23 Pilot had struts. Or maybe TrailSport gets 2x wishbone? I guess I should watch your video again to see what I can see with the front suspension.
Great Vid . I couldn't see the Tranny dip stick . Yes!!!! We got our trail sport today and came with full size spare. Check out my trail sport video I made today, I actually made a point to mention it.
Looks better than the previous version, but I am still disappointed that Honda chose to integrate the front lower control arm ball joint into the lower control arm...... meaning that you must buy a control arm with the bushings and ball joints if your ball joint goes bad....... HORRIBLE design.
Well it’s a good thing those balls don’t really go bad. I’ve yet to replace one due to regular wear on the 2016-2022 generation. I think we are good in that aspect
Not much if I’m being perfectly honest. So much so that they both use same fluid and differentials look relatively identical to the point where I mistake them haha. With sh-awd atleast in the type S models torque vectoring is available where in i vtm it is not.

Fantastic video. Can oil filter be changed on a ramp, instead of hoist? Looks like access will be very limited with tires fully down... Also, lots of parts are exposed to the elements; salt and rust - in Canada - would definitely be a concern.
Thanks for watching! I think on ramps it will be tough to get to the filter. You need to turn the wheel to have decente access and avoid making a total mess. Rust will definitely be a problem ok most cars up there for sure, thiamine will be no exception.
What do the wheel wells look like? My Sport trim has less plastic cladding or felt cladding than I’ve ever seen in a vehicle, much less an SUV. Way to much exposed metal, parts, wires, etc…Should I be concerned that the road salt we see up north and sand and dust we see in AZ will have a better chance degrading these unprotected parts?

Good review than counting how many cup holders the car has.
Yup, cup holders and usb ports 🙃
I was thinking of adding my own structural adhesive, since they always mention more structural adhesive as a good thing. But then I think I could screw things up, making the chassis very stiff or something, uncomfortable ride or whatever.
I would just let it be.

quick question regarding these new 3.5L V6: are they direct & port injected or just direct injected? if direct injected only, did Honda do anything to reduce / eliminate valve gunk / sut build up?
Direct injection only and nothing was addressed for the carbon build up. I’ve had a few tlx type S intake manifolds out and they all have some buildup already.

What's the difference? The 2023 Pilot 4th Gen has the Double Wishbone Suspension now. The 3rd Gen did not have it. My old 2nd Gen TL has it and previous 90s Accords had. Does the 2023 Pilot TrailSport have the same Double Wishbone Suspension.
Yes
@Hondamobilemechanic I didn't know if it would be used for off-roading.
I did see that newer Toyota Tundra used it in some applications. So, didn't know previous pilot didn't use.
The 15-19's have a wide Dip Stick opening where you can add fluid directly there unlike the 05's/etc. Is the Tranny Dip Stick the same as the 16-19's ? Also , I did see the engine air filter . Do you have to unscrew that front piece to get to the Filter ?
Thanks! So the 10at has no dipstick like the 9at only the 6at did. There’s a 17mm hex nut that you fill the fluid through and then a 12mm hex to check the level (fun times 🤣). Filter is in that big black box over the intake manifold.
@@BCautosolutions My 05 Odyssey has that set up . I hate it . I was afraid I'd crank my Windshield or the Aluminum Tranny housing so I aborted & paid to have it done . ( Reaches for Breaker Bar & wonders,,, what could go wrong ??? )

Don’t buy the 1st production year of a newly designed vehicle. Wait for the 2nd production year, after they have resolved all the 1st year issues and glitches! This applies to all the manufacturers, including Honda and Toyota.

Nice. Wonder how the welding is on the trunk...
I’ll take a look when I can. Inside of the trunk overall?
@@BCautosolutions the welding around the trunk after opening the lift gate
Looks better than the previous version, but I am still disappointed that Honda chose to integrate the front lower control arm ball joint into the lower control arm...... meaning that you must buy a control arm with the bushings and ball joints if your ball joint goes bad....... HORRIBLE design.
Well it’s a good thing those balls don’t really go bad. I’ve yet to replace one due to regular wear on the 2016-2022 generation. I think we are good in that aspect
What’s the difference between Sh-awd and I-vtm4?
Not much if I’m being perfectly honest. So much so that they both use same fluid and differentials look relatively identical to the point where I mistake them haha. With sh-awd atleast in the type S models torque vectoring is available where in i vtm it is not.

Just got a 2023 Pilot trailsport. It is jerky when coming to a stop. Is this normal?
Jerky as In downshifting or from the brakes?
@@BCautosolutions From the downshifting.
It doesn't happen every time and seems to occur more often in Eco mode and less frequent in Normal mode. Since the dealer is hours away, I'm wondering if it improves with more miles on the vehicle without making a strip.
@@chrisli4178 probably just a software glitch that hopefully can be revised. That would be my best guess but I haven’t noticed it on any I have driven.

Definitely something to consider
Freaking oil filter location is in the same area again and made it even worse by its horizontal position, lol. More oil to spill on the A arm.
Lol yeah, it’s worse for sure.
10speed? What's the crawl ratio!?
First gear is really short if that’s what your looking for.

No there isn’t. I think Honda will go straight EV starting with the prlogue late this fall/early 2024
Never heard of especial tools for preventing oil spillage sold by the manufacturer. Oil filter location is beyond insane... I highly doubt the existence of those tools
Honda has had tools for the longest since late 90s for oil changes. Nothing new. They do exist.
@@BCautosolutions well you stated tools to not make a mess due to the location, but hose tools do not exist from Honda. I am glad you show me that. I'm on the market, and that really sucks since I do work on my cars. I got tricks to avoid spillage, but it is bs to deal with this anyway.
