  • The silver lining in this and in any failure in life is that there is a lesson to be learned... now admittedly I should have learned that lesson last time I had an aftermarket cylinder screw my plans up but this time.... I am 100% serious when I say I am probably NEVER going to use another Chinese cylinder 💯
    THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!

    John, this saw sounds like an excellent unit for your removable head trick.! I don’t know if you’ve considered it or not. It’d be fairly easy to get your compression where you want it and to reshape your combustion chamber to your liking. If the spark plug just barely stuck through with only the electrodes showing for the intake charge/swirl then I’d think that the compression issue would be easy to resolve. Am I on the wrong track. You might have an easier time trying to figure out what cylinder to use and then “maybe” less grinding to get it to fit in your limited space that a cylinder is supposed to fit. And what do YOU DO about the different bolt pattern at the cylinder/case junction? Just the strange stuff that goes through my head at night.

    I don't watch every one of your episodes because I own a small engine shop and I subscribed to throw some support to a fellow engine guy. So excuse me if I'm asking a question on something you've already covered. But these saws you're throwing a bunch of spray too do you gap the rings big?

    • @ToddAdams1234
      @ToddAdams1234 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to make them bigger or they’ll score the cylinder. I don’t know what kind, if any, of a formula that you’d use but probably just that trial and error process. 🤔🫣

    • @worldssickestmedia2713
      @worldssickestmedia2713 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ToddAdams1234 kinda. If you spray a bunch The ring expands so much so fast that the gap crashes into itself and will break the top of the piston. I know on an engine with a 4" bore like a V8 is 0.020. I have no idea what it would be on a piston as small as a saw has.

    • @ToddAdams1234
      @ToddAdams1234 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@worldssickestmedia2713 I guess that you’re going to have to start with figuring out what percent that the small cylinder is compared to your 4.00 cylinder (like on your typical Ford V8 and your typical SBC 350) and after the math class is done then you’ll need to compensate for the much smaller cylinder/piston and thermal expansion characteristics of air-cooled 2stroke engines. That’s why I said “trial and error” because it’s going to be a LOT of it going on. Go for the large gap then after tearing it down after a few (10ish) runs you should be able to see any kind of wear patterns in your cylinder, and rings are cheap compared to cylinders. Just a thought. That’s what “I” would do, but I don’t plan on running NOS on a saw, it’s just entertaining to me 👏🏼

    did the 660 or the 064 cylinder bolt right up or did u have to machine anything other then carve the case out just wondering i have a 046 and a 460 im getting ready to rebuild i wouldn't be doing nitrous or anything just was thinking about a stronger saw

    Alright John, stop right where you are, and think about what you just said.
    Because I strongly disagree with you in this case, and I will clarify that for you, and anyone else that may disagree with my stating disagree with you.
    okay in order for something to be a total failure, then whatever the basis of the failure was.
    You also don't gain any knowledge as to why it failed, as in totally clueless.
    Nor do you understand what the weak component was, are what process was done to either cause it to fail, are you simply increased the percentages of it failing sooner than later, also with no knowing what was going to fail regardless, are not realizing that what you did exasperated the condition, are flaw that was present without knowledge of its existence.
    As I understood it, you knew the weaknesses, but you used your years of experience, and all the little tricks of the trade on hopes of pulling off something that at best was marginal with everything you put forth in hopes of making it work as it should have.
    So if you gained any insight, totally comprehended the big picture of why the component, or components failed, and you learned what is a totaled waste of time, and resources.
    Secondly you past all the information you gained from this prototype, then that's not a failure in the grand scheme of life.
    That's exactly why such things are done in the way that your at least following part of the process.
    Were you keeping detailed records of everything you did down to the smallest details, then you would be far more accurate about everything you do.
    What you are doing is using your banked memories from years of flying by the worn out jeans of your younger days.
    As well as the muscle memory that you've developed from repeatedly developing your own process for working the different components that go into what you're trade craft has taught you over the years.
    Additionally your mechanically inclined, learned to pay attention to the different combinations of things works best for longevity, endurance, all our preformance, and how to make it last just long enough to prove the point you were trying to make.
    Top of all that, is that you not only sell a few saws annually, but you have strong enough reputation that repeat customers refer you to the ones that need equipment of your caliber in their day to day profession.
    So I realized a long time ago that I talk entirely too much in an effort to make myself clearly understood, because some say that either I don't express myself clearly, whether by my lack of ability to use all the correct verbiage or termaknowlgie, and majority of the time how to spell the words that I am trying to say, and use in a properly structured sentence.
    Also because I base my thinking, and sometimes my actions on logically.
    But from years of researching, many subjects, also doing a wide variety of different types of work, actively seeking out those that I believe do have the knowledge, and are experience of which I seek.
    As you yourself have learned that those of less than desirable character, are known for doing they're best to discredit you, or you and whatever your doing, to the degree that you feel as if you have been physically assaulted enough times, that you are ready to stoop to thei level are lower just to make them stop their assault on your person, your personal reputation as a professional, and a man of your word that stands behind the products that you supply the industry your in.
    That is basics of my point that I wanted to make, and hopefully you would take to heart.
    there I'm officially done, for the present time that is
