I first saw this routine as a 12 year old in 1986 at the world cup and thought she was from another world. Still is unique performance to this day. Really the only event I liked watching her on though but she took total command on floor like few others. Excellent.
@kubrickfan I totally agree with you. I must admit, when I was young and recorded this, I was so focused on Elena Shoushounova and Oksana Omelianchik from the Soviet team and of course Daniela Silivas, as the number one of the Romanian team, that Camelia Voinea was just not on my radar. Seeing the tapes these days now, it makes me stunned, how difficult her routine was and how good the choreography was designed. The Romanians weren't famous for their movements, but they surely hit it at the Europeans 1987 and the Olympics 1988. .... oh and I wanted to mention Ecaterina Szabo, who was also an outstanding gymnast.
Camelia Voinea was the punch front queen of the 80s. I wonder if Belu had much to do with that as he was the tumbling coach and trained Silivas to do the "Silivas." She could do a double tuck punch front as shown here.
