I didn't watch it.... on which event happened this? And what medal was it... who snatched it away from her?
As far as I understood from other comments... Romania is not a leading nation in Gymnastics anymore. This is really a pity if it's true.

@@Boban1611 It's part of the debacle that was the floor exercise finals. They gave her an out of bounds deduction even though she didn't go out of bounds. She got the same score as her teammate, Ana Barbosu. Also, the judges didn't give Jordan Chiles credit for her tour jeté full, so Jordan originally scored lower than both Romanian gymnasts, but the American coaches filed an inquiry with the judges, which was accepted and they gave credit for the tour jeté full. So Jordan then received a higher score than either Romanian and got the bronze medal.
But then Romania appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which found that the American coach's inquiry came _4 seconds_ too late, so they stripped Jordan of her medal and gave it to Barbosu (because of an execution score tie-breaker between her and Voinea.) However, the CAS did not alert the Americans of the appeal in time for the Americans to actually prepare, so they weren't able to submit video proof that they inquired within 1 minute and now the CAS won't reopen the case. Also, the head arbiter of the appeal has represented Romania multiple times over the years, so people think he's biased.
Romania also appealed Voinea's out of bounds deduction to the CAS, but since they didn't inquire at the competition, CAS wouldn't review it.
So had the judges done their job right, Voinea would be the winner, because her score (13.8) would have been higher than Chiles (13.766, if the judges had correctly given her credit) and Barbosu (13.7). So basically, the person with the lowest deserved score is now the bronze medalist, Voinea gets nothing and Chiles has been ordered to return her bronze medal.
A lot of people, including the gymnasts, think all three should share the bronze.

@@AdeleiTeillanaThank you for explaining that exactly as it happened without throwing shade at any of the gymnasts.
Ana Barbosu was the only one who was scored fairly. Both Jordan Chiles and Sabrina Voinea were both underscored. Ana should be 5th, not 3rd... but it was also cruel to post the standings when an inquiry was pending, make her think she won bronze, then say "never mind." Then give it to Jordan, medal ceremony (an iconic one at that) and all... then later strip it from her (when she did nothing wrong) and "give it back" to Ana. I wouldn't even want it at that point if I were her.
Chiles WAS underscored on her difficulty; she did complete a tour jete full and it is worth .4 points towards the difficulty score; they gave her a .3 for it. Stripping her of a medal due to no wrongdoing on her part over a 4-second technicality (if in fact it even was 4 seconds late) on a valid appeal that shouldn't have been necessary to begin with, is just beyond cruel.
Voinea doesn't seem to have stepped out of bounds, unless it happened on another pass than the one we keep seeing video of, and it was impossible to see on TV... but if that's the case, why isn't there photographic or video evidence of her going OOB on that routine anyway? And even if she did, her difficulty was also underscored. I'm not sure exactly what skill they underscored, but she did an identical routine in qualifying and team final, and got a 6.0 difficulty for both. That said, an inquiry should have been submitted on her behalf at the time... but then again, just as in Jordan's case, it shouldn't be necessary.
I also personally feel that both Chiles and Voinea were underscored on execution, but unfortunately that can't be appealed.
I get that the judges are human, but there are more than one for a reason and they have a huge responsibility, which they need to take seriously. How could they bungle scoring 2 routines so badly that the bronze ends up going to someone who should've rightfully placed 5th is insane.
And I know it'll probably never happen, but I do agree it should be a 3-way tie atp. Not just 3 bronze medals, but having them all listed in the record books as having tied for bronze. Normally that wouldn't be an appropriate answer, but in this case it's not about placating whiny gymnasts. It's about righting a wrong made by the officials.
