I remember owning this and looking at the box art and being disappointed that they made him look awesome on the box art, and just blue ingame. I thought it was another case of inaccurate box art, then I discovered that first capsule thingy at chill penguin's stage and my head exploded.

I had a genisis at the time this came out, and there was of course a huge debate on which was better. when i first played this game, and this intro stage hit you in the face with this killer music, it let you know that the old mega man was gone, and the new one was gonna be bad ass. I knew then that i had to get an snes.

Three themes from 90s Capcom got my heart pumped. Final Fight "The Slums" stage which became Guy's theme, Strider KazakhGrad which became his Strider Hiryu's Theme, and Megaman X' Central Highway which is what we're hearing now. Truly epic. 🎵😌🎵

I remembered I got so hyped from this song, it's very climactic and heroic, and the feeling is that you joined forces with X against Sigma.

I remember being a kid, when my cousin (10 years older than me) was playing in the pc (using a snes emulator) we played in that pc or in his laptop, games like: Bomberman 4 / 5 , Top Gear, And Megaman X, my first megaman game, that i would play. for years i kinda forgot about it, remebering it again in 2017

Never played this game growing up. I didn't play it until it came out on the Wii U VC when I was about 18. And yet...it feels to me like a part of my childhood just like my other favorite SNES classic, Super Metroid. Guess it's a lost part of my childhood.

Was really popular I first played (Was 6 if wondering) and I got pretty far got to chill penguin (some one helped me) but I remember hearing this theme and it's strange how vague that memory is but yeah I'm buying legacy collection just because of this song and to have some good platforming action and plus some nostalgia.

I was already a fan of the original series. When I heard this tune, playing the opening stage, I could tell my love expanded to the sequel series.
This song makes you feel like you're a badass cruising on the freeway at a 100 miles per hour, with no care about the world under a blue sky.
Without a doubt, this is one of the best first stage themes in history.

Because he's underwater,the color of the water is blue,red plus blue equals purple, therefore, he's purple
It's all about colour palettes and how they affect the human eye's perception. Generally, warmer-coloured objects are perceived as being in the foreground, and cooler-coloured objects are perceived as being in the background. X is in the foreground, Launch Octopus is in the midground, possibly 10 feet away from him, and further back is Cruiziler (yes that's the name of the whale sub), shooting missiles towards X.

The moment you realize this game isn't going to be like the OG Mega man games and things and gonna get a lot more hyped.
I was born two years before the release if X8 but I know that if I had grown up playing Mega man games and Mega man X came out, this would've been my reaction. I grew up playing X games and mostly 4, 5 and 8. Played 1 once which I remember from childhood then played all of the games except 6 and 7 when I grew up more. Need those two games.

Back when Capcom cared about Megaman
NGL this "Capcom hates Mega Man" argument is really outdated given the sheer volume of Mega Man games we've gotten in recent years. Not to mention a new one currently in development.
TL;DR: quantity < quality, what's the point of getting content if it's no new stuff / compilations =/= new games
@@iwoomy752 i dont know if it's me living under a rock but we haven't gotten nothing but game compilations, sure, we maaay be getting a new "megaman game" (if it's not the new megaman battle network legacy collection seeing as most articles and info i've gotten do not make it clear to differentiate between a new actual game and a new compilation, feel free to correct me on that) but are you aware of what capcom has pretty much done? i know this is really old stuff but i mean, we had like what, 3 relevant games cancelled? we had legends, star force and even a zx game being developed at some point, yet cancelled, and after so long, they literally gave the least important (and heavily milked) series a continuation (the classic series, i mean, it has literally no end as there are no continuing plotlines and it's the only auto-conclusive series, it did not leave in any cliffhanger like the rest, and they are nowhere any soon planning to connect it with the X series), only and exclusively because of the japanese fanbase opinion's and perspective on the series (in japan the classic series is the most popular), the only type of actual attention we've gotten is x dive, which is a literal gacha game, come on man, that is clearly no appreciation, especially when the main antagonists in x dive don't look, feel or were even MEANT to be for megaman, literally first thing they told to the character designers was to "make something that doesn't look like megaman", what type of design choice is that my man, if you aren't even asking for something to look remotely like it's coming from the franchise you're working for, you clearly don't think of the product you're working on, or the people that are buying your products
now i'm not saying they have done absolutely nothing to recover the megaman franchise, but if you take a look at the rest of their franchises, they are getting 280% much more content than megaman, resident evil's getting a new dlc, street figher 6 is coming up and whatever monster hunter is getting which sure is a lot because each time i check any capcom news it's exclusively monster hunter, all of that, while the last 3 megaman cancelled games, were being developed from 2008 to 2011 before being cancelled, that's been a HUGE while
