I think they are trying to go for a more heroic approach and give Zero more variety to his theme like X. The other was a banger but repetitive like X4. Maybe if they amp this one up it will give it that more zero feel

honestly while i prefer the previous one, it was too repetitive, and its strength made it sound too raw, this one has a less amateur-ish and more refined melody, you can see the same happening in X's previous opening and new opening stage, the old one sounds a bit amateur due to its pure rawness and repetitive nature, but the new one sounds more professional with its echoing drums and melodies with more flow
