  • This video is an update to the repair video's of the MF-35, after it had frost damage. Its now 3 years later and the cylinder head repair with cold metal still holds. Lets say this is a video for the none believers at the time. Note that this was a test and not something I would recommend

      @@billjenkins2174 Good morning,
      I did remove the video as there was to much negative locomotion around it, including statements that are not acceptable ( insults etc amongst the viewers). Some of the comments were not acceptable in terms of politeness despite the fact that the video was fair and honest. I could have turned of the comments, but then I turn both the good and bad off. Nice to see an update to this! I remember I've learned so much from the MF project videos you did back then. And I've also attempted a repair with this steel putty thing on a steel cutting bandsaw (the rotating joint on the bottom was broken, and welded up very badly, it had like 1mm play, but it was cheap... I drilled it up and added a bushing with this stuff and its perfect since than). Good work Steve!

    Another good way to fix a crack is to "Pin" it. It's an old technique that involves drilling and tapping a series of overlapping holes along the crack. Drill and tap a hole - install a bolt, then drill an overlapping hole - tap it, and install another bolt, and so on till the crack is completely filled with bolts. It does have it's limits, but it is a very useful technique!

  • @DNomer
    @DNomer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It is interesting. I was not a naysayer, but it seemed risky. We might call that a metal-filled epoxy here. Some of those epoxies have impressive strength, albeit not as much as steel or cast iron. One point of interest: what is the pressure achieved by your radiator cap for that engine? The pressure inside the cooling system for most engines is determined by the radiator cap.

    • @D3Sshooter
      @D3Sshooter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comments, that is indeed correct... the cap on this tractor has no pressure release so that helps

    That is a good repair, I have always ground out the crack and used a MIG welder on non road vehicles, and that seems to work for farm use, but it is easy to get another head,(not so easy to get a block), I notice you have taken off the front wheels of your tondous, is that because they hit the tractor wheels? I have the same tondous mounted on my Fergi 20, and that is a problem I have, the Fergi has no problem cutting my meadow, although I only cut it in October after the wild flowers have died back. Stay safe! Chris B.

    • @D3Sshooter
      @D3Sshooter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comments Chris, the reason was to get tires that damage less the grass...

    • @453421abcdefg12345
      @453421abcdefg12345 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@D3Sshooter Yes, I noticed that you had grass cutting tyres fitted, that is the same tread pattern that they use on golf course mowing tractors, with the "normal" cleated tyres I do get damage when the ground is wet, but my problem is that when I lift the deck those Tonduese wheels hit the tractor tyres, unlike a Topper of course the deck relies on the wheels for cut height, so the linkage point needs to be in a different place.

    • @D3Sshooter
      @D3Sshooter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@453421abcdefg12345 I see, indeed that is a close call on mine as well.. but i have extended the lifting arms some time ago to avoid that problem.
