I have been making soap for three months now and yes, I have been to Morocco many, many times. I used the soap in the hammam and even brought some home. I plan to make this soap since avocados are easily found in Texas. Thanks, I subscribed!

I live in Florida and have avocado trees on my property. I love them!
I have the larger variety, they have a light green skin and bright yellow flesh. Has a slightly different flavor but still delicious. I have made lots of soap with avocado 🥑🥑🥑🥑🥑

I have a tip for year round avocado puree. You can freeze the pureed avocado pulp mixed with a little oil in the amount you need in your specific recipe . It stays a vibrant green and you can take advantage of times when avocados are on sale in your area . I freeze my puree in disposable condiment cups with lids they freeze well then just defrost before adding to your batch ..

I know just how to make bar soap and liquid but long time I didn't make them. So my question are...
    - Can I calculations my solution from Soapcalc website?
    - Or I can use my hard bar formular by soapcalc, and just replace NaOH to KOH and also adjust superfat? If I can how many % is good for superfat this soap?
    - What is the website for calculations the Beldi Soap?
    Thanks

    • @SoapSchoolUK

You generally use very different ratios and oils in liquid soaps but yes you could use the SAP calculator to determine your lye amounts. For beldi you calculate the Koh and the naoh separately so more maths

Hiya Rita, Q1 you are correct. Q2 I have batches of this going back over 5 years and still as good as when it was made. I have olive beldi going back over 10 years, it has never changed but it will dry out if it is not airtight when being stored. So glad you like it. This is a stiffer traditional beldi but if you prefer a softer beldi you can increase your water amount or dilute after making.

African black soap is also made from oil and lye. The big difference is the lye is not sodium hydroxide but is instead derived from plant ashes (potash). This plant ash is rich in potassium carbonate which is a fairly gentle lye compared to sodium hydroxide. It's a common misconception that there isn't lye in the African black soap, when it actually occurs naturally vs us putting it in. You cannot have soap without lye: synthetic or natural.
