I have been making soap for three months now and yes, I have been to Morocco many, many times. I used the soap in the hammam and even brought some home. I plan to make this soap since avocados are easily found in Texas. Thanks, I subscribed!
I live in Florida and have avocado trees on my property. I love them! I have the larger variety, they have a light green skin and bright yellow flesh. Has a slightly different flavor but still delicious. I have made lots of soap with avocado 🥑🥑🥑🥑🥑
Hiya Carol, I hope you like it. It is a fairly stiff paste so if you prefer it softer simply increase your water amount early on. Let me know if you like it :)
Fantastic job Sarah, these look wonderful, and yes I have softened a plastic container too, learned to wait a bit for cooling, thanks so much for sharing.
I have a tip for year round avocado puree. You can freeze the pureed avocado pulp mixed with a little oil in the amount you need in your specific recipe . It stays a vibrant green and you can take advantage of times when avocados are on sale in your area . I freeze my puree in disposable condiment cups with lids they freeze well then just defrost before adding to your batch ..
Love your video,I love avocados, and i live in Spain up in the mountain, surrounded by Olive, avocado trees. So I am so excited to try this, and your fresh avocado video I have just watched. Thank you.

Hi Sarah, what a lovely soap. I love, love, love avocados. How nice to have extra hands. I've used beldi soap before but never been out of N. America. Thanks for sharing and even the reminder to not put hot soap into a plastic container. LOL
Wow great video .AS ALWAYS very informative & introducing everyone to new & for some of us never herd of before soap. Well done like ALWAYS. This is a absolute MUST TRY ASAP. Yes I love avocados I could make a meal out of them. I personally like the hass the best. I like to batter them up & fry them. Not all the time but every now & then that preparation is so yummy. There are alot of other ways I prepare them as well.
Wow Laurie, I have never heard of fried Avocado! Must try that one - thanks for sharing. I am so thrilled that you enjoyed todays video. If I can how many % is good for superfat this soap? - What is the website for calculations the Beldi Soap? Thanks
You generally use very different ratios and oils in liquid soaps but yes you could use the SAP calculator to determine your lye amounts. For beldi you calculate the Koh and the naoh separately so more maths
Loved this video, Sarah! Thanks so much for sharing. I was wondering if it would be possible to use an old canvas piping bag to pipe into the jars, when the paste has cooled down a bit??
What a great idea Erlynn, The paaste is quite thick but you could easily increase the water to make it softer and therefore more pipeable. Thanks for sharing!
WOW Well done!!! I have 2 questions number (1) when making this soap I would be looking for the Vaseline stage to know it's completely cooked yes plus a zap test or check the ph right? #(2) Whats the expiration time on this with and without the avocado or olives etc... Please and Thank you. Yes I'm a HUGE FAN of avocados!!
Hiya Rita, Q1 you are correct. Q2 I have batches of this going back over 5 years and still as good as when it was made. I have olive beldi going back over 10 years, it has never changed but it will dry out if it is not airtight when being stored. So glad you like it. This is a stiffer traditional beldi but if you prefer a softer beldi you can increase your water amount or dilute after making.
lovely video!! I tried making black beldi saop last night. PH was 10.10 is that ok? does it lower over time? it's supposed to be 8-9 ? and when I cure the soap paste, do i leave it for two weeks uncovered ??? Thanks for any tips!!
Hiya Caroline. That's a bit high. Give it some time to settle, you might have not cooked it out fully. If it remains high, add a small amount of citric acid in solution to knock it down
Ok. I cooked it 3 and a half hours. But my slow cooker took really long to heat up . It was 180 only the last hour i think. Maybe i should have kept it going longer. It was a beatiful transparent paste so i stopped . Does it get more solid over time? My is jelly like but the original is quite firm.

I mention the cooking at around 8 minutes. It depends on your temperatures and the method of cooking so will differ for each person. Some will be an hour and others could be much longer.
In its natural beldi state many years. If you add lots of additional water to dilute it, you will need a preservative and the shelf life would be reduced
@@jovitaalexander1152 You will need a broad spectrum preservative with a suitable ph range of 8.5+. Have a look at your local or usual soap making supplies company and see what is available to you as they vary hugely from area to area.
African black soap is also made from oil and lye. The big difference is the lye is not sodium hydroxide but is instead derived from plant ashes (potash). This plant ash is rich in potassium carbonate which is a fairly gentle lye compared to sodium hydroxide. It's a common misconception that there isn't lye in the African black soap, when it actually occurs naturally vs us putting it in. You cannot have soap without lye: synthetic or natural.

Could you use sodium hydroxide and change it to a hard soap using the same recipe? Thanks so much for sharing your expertise 💜
The recipe is designed to be a soft soap so even with sodium hydroxide it would be a softer soap.
Do you have to use purée ? Or can you simply use the oils only?
If you are not using puree you will need to increase the oil by that amount. The pureed olives contain high oil content that is calculated into this recipe
What is the device you are using to heat/melt the oils? What brand name? Thank you, it is very convenient
Hi, It is a slow cooker sometimes also called a crock pot. There are lots of different brands, we just use a supermarket own brand

How can i calculate glycerine in soap? Is it considered oil or water or additive?
How long will this soap last?
Many years
How do you dilute this? Can you make it into a liquid soap since it's a paste with the glycerin added?
You can dilute it in hot water 2 parts water or more to 1 part soap paste but traditionally it is used as a paste
It the same from Hot Process? But it became Paste...?
Emily Calubayan yes it is hot processed
What should the ph level be
