its freezing on the east coast right now 9 degrees this morning, i don't think i can enough of this "cover" its warm and full of great memories. thanks for the video, i love it !!
Amazing cover, man! If anyone is interested, there's an old video of Mr.Big (Paul Gilbert included) playing in the mood with Rush on stage, super fun watch.
@13raptorman22 i listened to the commentary on the DVD, they had to rush (lol) around beforehand and couldn't do a soundcheck before the show--paul couldn't hear out of his headphones he just had to try and follow portnoy the whole time... makes it even better
Does any other rush fan, NOW think that geddy and Alex, should do a huge, worldwide tribute tour for Neil, with portnoy on drums? I would DEFINITELY go to sec that!
I just love all the professional opinions from all the professional musicians and professional sound men on here. But I can't seem to find any of their work on here. Never heard of a single one of them. Just a bunch of keyboard warriors running their lips.
@tommorellorules What do you mean "they should do Cygnus X-1"? They DID do it. The full set is 2112, Cygnus X-1, Hemispheres, and YYZ with a drum solo. 4 songs and it's an hour long, haha! It's available on dvd from Mike Portnoy's website. Or at least it was several years ago when I bought it, I assume it's still for sale.
Thanks for posting this. Say, how did ya do on that Guitar Competition? In July, I FRIED my laptop trying to "Render" a Music vid, so now I am on some piece of shit laptop that I am borrowing from my Wife's office. It has ZERO Music capabilities, but hey, at least I can watch some cool videos.
Paul is missing something..in the part at 1:22 he just strums it downstroking two times, Alex plays it strumming alternating up and down strokes quickly. Can't believe he didn't catch that.
Portnoy is a top shelf drummer, but he doesn't have the strict meter and feel Neil had. Just an easy count on a lot of pauses he was off count (and feel) compared to Peart. Neil was Neil and there will never be another one like him.
pure shit...what the hell portnoy is playing on the final part?the dynamic is completely absent...and the neil original part is completely different...
I'm a big fan of those guys and a GREAT fan of Rush, but I gotta say that's not sounding good. I think portnoy's drums sound like crap in this video, and I'm not saying he's not a good drummer. But this one, I didnt like it. Rush is very tough to cover. It's not just the skill, it's about the tone and EQ too.
@@jb-yi4di I got the exact same tone as Alex With Tube Tape Echo, Leslie and tube reverb... Paul Gilbert's tone is complete crap, he use 75$ boss pedal with a modern marshall with pc board and ibanez guitar...
Sean Malone never gets enough respect..His solo album and Gordian Knot cds are masterpieces
Right?! Why isn't his name in the title of this video for example.
Paul Gilbert is one of the most versatile guitar players i've ever come across!! I hope to see him live sometime.
that singer!! HE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!
its freezing on the east coast right now 9 degrees this morning, i don't think i can enough of this "cover" its warm and full of great memories. thanks for the video, i love it !!
When faced with this level of brillance, words fail me. It is breath taking. Top notch stuff.
Oh shit ! Really a fantastic Rush cover !
Amazing cover, man! If anyone is interested, there's an old video of Mr.Big (Paul Gilbert included) playing in the mood with Rush on stage, super fun watch.
don't forget Jason McMaster (Watchtower, Dangerous Toys) on vocals. not easy!
The best 2112 Cover vocally...ever! On of course Mike on Drums, one of the few (and the definitely the best) that can do Peart's work justice.
Truth.
fantastic tribute to a fantastic band! The holy triumvirate would be proud if they saw this.
Rush a sido algo muy de mi vida, y quien lo toque, mis respetos
i got to say this singer is perfect
@13raptorman22

As loud as live rock band sound is, the headphones probably help just being dead. As good as earplugs, which I use.
Awesome!!
Does any other rush fan, NOW think that geddy and Alex, should do a huge, worldwide tribute tour for Neil, with portnoy on drums? I would DEFINITELY go to sec that!
Deffo
This is sooooo fucking good!!
I just love all the professional opinions from all the professional musicians and professional sound men on here. But I can't seem to find any of their work on here.
Never heard of a single one of them.
Just a bunch of keyboard warriors running their lips.
three pals jamming rush in the drummer's basement. fun times.
the vocals here on better then on the hemispheres thinga. good job
Not many people can replicate Geddy's high pitched lyrics from his early stuff, especially albums like 2112 and the hemipsheres two part song.

Nice!
Fuck YES!!
Dudes, Sean Malone is a Monster too!!!!!
this is a great rush cover!
@winrar any chance of uploading more vids?
They're hired. They can be my backing band. :->

i want La Villa Strangiato !!!!!!!!!
Please put "Sean Malone" in the title asap!!
Why the hell does The Zuuls video link here?
Sean Malone!!!
@PoIiticaIIylncorrect Are those on your channel? Because youtube says your channel is unavailable =(
Paul is missing something..in the part at 1:22 he just strums it downstroking two times, Alex plays it strumming alternating up and down strokes quickly.
Can't believe he didn't catch that.
They should do Cygnus X-1!
Cynic & the Sea Monsters.. A cool band.
One Element that make it so:
1. Sean Malone
...sorry, couldn't resist
My head asplode.
Nice Ibanez!
Is that Jason McMaster?
Yes it is!
Portnoy missed the double snare hits that occur after 2:46
Portnoy is sloppy
Who's singing? Whoever he is, he did a great job! :P
It looks like the guy from Dangerous toys
Jason McMaster
Yes, Gilbert and Portnoy are awesome, but how does everyone forget about Sean Malone?
1 dislike? Who brought the debbie downer??
Why not try la villa strangiato
hmmm best cover ever and only 4336 views, whos fuckin with me?
@PoIiticaIIylncorrect Yeah, I just found them. Cheers!
Sounds like Al's heaviness RTB era .
GORDIAN KNOT!!!

@312chicagoadam
haha good deal, dnw haven't heard anything we shall seeee
L I S T E N....
They all are amazing artists...but they don't play Rush...like Rush
@PoIiticaIIylncorrect Please do :D
Total lack of echo and such a dry and bottomless sound, I agree. Nearly ruins the whole thing
Fuck i wish Paul's tone was more authentic....more 70's msrshall plexi, as opposed to this almost 80's sounding tone he has here.
Nobody plays it like rush
whos this singer? so i can make sure i never listen to him again
Sean Maloneがベースボーカルするんじゃないかとひそかに期待したがさすがに違うかぁ・・・
Mike portney is a complete copy of Neil Peart
pure shit...what the hell portnoy is playing on the final part?the dynamic is completely absent...and the neil original part is completely different...

horrible sound. doesn't sound live. put some mics at a distance for pete's sake!
Kudos to their playing and the singer nailed it big time.
The guitar lacks power. Vox, bass & drums nail it.
wow, Paul Gilbert's tone is complete crap
aww c'mon dude. In his defense Alex' tone and feel is hard to replicate.
>complains about gilber tone
>as soon as you go on the guy youtube you hear probably the worst guitar tone ever recorded in history by schenker.
I read where they had some serious technical difficulties with audio when doing this
@@jb-yi4di I got the exact same tone as Alex With Tube Tape Echo, Leslie and tube reverb... Paul Gilbert's tone is complete crap, he use 75$ boss pedal with a modern marshall with pc board and ibanez guitar...
Wow, your comment is complete crap.
Yes, Gilbert and Portnoy are awesome, but how does everyone forget about Sean Malone?
