Actually was hoping you would either do Rygar or Shadowgate...both have amazingly memorable soundtracks :) I'm sure I'm not the first to suggest these though.
Well I wouldn't have said it like that but I have to agree with Bradyabby on this one. Since Sam and I are older (I'm 28) we're mainly interested in covering the old school stuff. Anything from NES/Genesis - N64/PSX and maybe even some PS2 games someday. We already have a HUGE list of old school games that we want to cover and, believe me, it will be a long time before we finish all of them. So yeah, we are here to play the music that we heard back in the day when we were kids/teenagers. -Steve
In the 1980s in Panama, my late Korean mother kicked ass at this game and finished it. She was kind of a legend with the other little kids on our block. "Wow, your mom can finish Castlevania?!!!" I never finished either Castlevania I or II -- even if I have seen it finished before -- perhaps because I want to keep it going or something. The music was excellent in these games. You guys have done this justice and I have played along with you dozens of times with great pleasure. Thank you.
christmas 1986 i was 6 years old. opening presents christmas morning i ripped open one from my grandma that was a NES cart for Castlevania. there was no box for it because, i found out later, she had to ask the local walmart to sell her the demo cart they had because they didnt have any more retail copies left. when i got it i went crazy because i knew that the big box next to it was a NES. i still have that cartridge and the NES upstairs. these songs bring it all back.
Thank you. We've been getting more Megaman requests than any other game I think. Let us get a couple more games out of the way first and then we will do Megaman. -Steve
@MrLabelChannel Hey sorry for the late response... We actually are using microphones they're just hard to see. I don't think you can see mine in this shot but if you look at Sam (the one on the left) there's a black and silver thing chilling there between the two sets of candles - that's his mic! Thanks for watching our video! -Steve
We've been working on a new song for the past few months... Unfortunately I'm working all the time and Sam is at school all the time so its nearly impossible for us to find time to get together to work on it. We hope to be able to record the song soon after this school semester is over. Thanks for listening! -Steve
We did perform at Magfest in Washington DC back in January. That was a lot of fun! Other than that we haven't played anywhere else yet. I wonder if there are any gaming conventions closer to Detroit. -Steve
@SuperGuitarBros Just a heads up I have been working a lot more lately on tabs for my half of the songs. I try to do them when I have free time, they're nowhere near finished, I have a little bit of all of them done, but they're getting there. And Sam will be able to work on his more once school is finished after this semester is over. -Steve
@blaksephirot Well we have one camera and two microphones so we recorded the main shot while also recording the audio. Then we came back then next day and recoded the close up shots while listening to the song so that it would be in sync.
No tabs for this one yet. We made tabs for the Gerudo Valley video and now we are working on the rest. Its taking a while though so I can't say when it will be done. -Steve
Me and my little brother used to turn the music off while playing this game at night because of the spooky music. Castlevania and Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt were the first NES games I ever had. Thumbs UP guys!
I've got a Ramirez R4 ; ) (sam) Yeah the big difference is the strings. The nylon is easier to push down and the strings are further apart for fingerpicking. The acoustic steel is a little closer to the electric in sound and feeling though and lends itself to heavier playing. Sall preference!
I'm not sure exactly what kind of guitar Sam is using. I do know it is a classical guitar (it has nylon strings). I'm using a Martin steel string guitar. Don't know whether nylon or steel would be better for folk guitar but I'm sure either would work fine. Have fun!! -Steve
After 40 seconds, I start to smile as I recognize the opening music for Castlevania 1. Pressing thumbs up is inevitable. However, 3:35 - 4:40 : You guys are totally AMAZING. You arranged the music so well beyond words. It gives me shivers, goosebumps. It reminds me the horror of stage 5-1. Subscribe is inevitable, you guys really deserve the title Super Guitar Bros.
I always figured I enjoyed this music so much out of pure nostalgia. Then, I heard, "Voyager" at the end and wasn't at all familiar with the melody. I didn't recognize it because I never finished this game as a child but it was my absolute favorite! That just goes to show you that Castevania's music is truly timeless!
1. If you mean which side we're sitting on, the only video that's different is Gerudo Valley. In every other video I'm on the right side of the screen and Sam's on the left. And that's the way we're gonna do it from now on. 2. Thank you! You're awesome too! 3. We just uploaded a new video a few minutes ago. Go and check it out. Hope you like it! -Steve
On that note, people have done remixes/covers of our covers and Sam and I have no problem with that so if you want to record a bass track on this and post it on your own channel we would be totally cool with that. Just make sure to give us credit please. -Steve
My grandmother (RIp Nanny) would have absolutely adored this, thank you for triggering memories of her owning this game on old school NES. She was a beast! lol
I hear you bro. I'm all about the 8 bit music. We have some ideas for a megaman medley but it'll probably be a while before we get to it since there are other games we want to do as well. -Steve
I listen to this regularly. It's so great. Love vid game music and you guys are doing a tremendously good job. Keep it up! I'm looking forward to more medleys from you two! You are awesome!
yeah. Meanwhile a group of fully grown adult losers are playing video games and fighting to talk over each other and and that group has like 9 million of them. The world has gone to shit.
Sorry brother i think i understand you and it goes without saying that the masses will always like dumbed down uninspired simple rubbish and if that where the moneys at,then by god thats what we'll make . i mean look at call of duty, medal of honor and battlefield they are practically the same game .
Yeah, it comes down to advertising. Some of the worst products out there are expensive and sought after simply due to a large advertising budget. The more someone is told to like something, the more they feel they really do. Hopefully these guys get some more attention their way.
Thank you for the offer Ziggen but we aren't looking for a bass player right now. We've talked about it before but for now we're planning on keeping it just the two of us. And if we do decide to get a bass player someday, he/she would have to live in the local area (around Detroit). You should find some guitar players in your area and start your own video game cover band. I'd love to hear it! -Steve
Thanks for the suggestion. We are already planning on putting an album out on bandcamp. We just want to record a few more songs first. Until then you can download this song as well as the Ninja Gaiden one by going to the link in the description since they were both uploaded on other websites before we put them on here. Or try the youtubetomp3dotcom thing. -Steve
Hearing Heart of Fire reminds me of the last corridor before Death that always knocked my health down too low to beat the boss (before learning to cheese him with holy water). Many frustrated days as a kid where I just gave up.
Just great, the rhythm sense of the steel string slinger is impeccable! Nice job with the nylons strings also! Just how great piece of art are there original riffs and themes?!
@neverender888 We definitely have Mega Man on the list of games we want to do. But there are at least 2 or 3 other games we want to cover first. Thank you for the kind words.
@robbyskymacau I've been playing for about 15 years, since I was 13 years old. I think Sam has been playing about the same. And this video actually took us A LOT of takes!! We had to come back a second night and try again because the first night we kept effin up. I'd say between the two nights we did somewhere between 50-60 takes. -Steve
@1argeth1 Right on man. I'm working on one as well but who knows how long that'll take... Let me know when you're finished with it and I can review it for you to make sure all the notes are right. -Steve
I totally agree. But they would have to be two separate videos. There's no way we could fit so many amazing songs in one medley and play all the way through it hahahaha. That would be a 15 minute video!! -Steve

cool duet. Love the music from the original game. Here's my cover of the Vampire Killer theme on .... the banjo! oops :) Castlevania Cover / Vampire Killer / Banjo-Guy-Ollie
@1argeth1 We actually have a page on facebook, we just haven't done a lot with it yet. If we could use it to host PDFs of tabs for people to download that would be sweet! I didn't think it could do that though. Anyway once school's out and we start getting more songs and the tabs going we should be getting more active. -Steve
Sam and I had ourselves a very successful recording session last night! Finally after months of waiting patiently/pulling my hair out, we are nearly ready to release our next Super Guitar Bros song. Keep an eye out as we should have this song posted sometime next week. You're all gonna love it! -Steve
lepetittofu well it’s a duet so you’re better off finding a different tab. Unless somebody has already arranged the castlevania theme for one guitar, you’ll very likely only find a tab(s) for the simple melody. Depending on your level of guitar ability this may be satisfying enough for you, but I doubt it would be, because I imagine you’d have to be a real beginner to be content just learning and playing the melody on its own. Melody on its own just isn’t that great, I remember when I first started guitar I would play melodies to songs and themes that I spent hours learning and memorizing, and people would rarely recognize what I was even playing, because on its own, a melody is just a melody, there’s so much more to songs than just the melody. Which is why you need like a band or something or a friend or computer generated instrumentals, or, the song arranged for one guitar, which when I played guitar is what I used to do and enjoy the most, as well as creating my own arrangements. If no one has made a good arranged version on just one classical or acoustic guitar, then you could make your own. When making your own, then those lousy “just the melody tabs” come in real handy, because you could build off of that. Like you could add in your own bass notes that you could alternate (between the melody and the bass) or play simultaneously or throw in some occasional strums to keep it moving or some guitar percussion etc etc etc, the guitar becomes your canvas. I’d laugh if you already know all the stuff in explaining and I just wasted my time typing all that, but I figure it’s worth typing out because just in case you aren’t familiar with these things, they’re really important.
I've watched this video at least 6 or 7 times. I love it. And for those of you guys saying your English sucks, give yourselves credit. English is the only language I can speak, so you're doing pretty well. Keep it up!
3:05 - 4:30 they are using samples from Bloody Tears. Remember, this is not only their version of these songs, but its a medley. They have ingeniously intertwined songs, as well as write it with their own sound. but if you listen, you can hear the parts of bloody tears that they use.
That's a pretty cool idea. Although there are plenty of other songs from the game that we want to cover. Maybe we can do a regular OoT cover first and then we can come back later and do a Warp Song medley. Thanks for the suggestion Lady Saturn. -Steve
Thank you guys. This is one of the best memories of my childhood. Thanks Konami for this. Things like Castlevania make me sure that the best childhood was in 90's. I miss those days...
No man... This summer has been a lot more busy than we were expecting it to be. More than anything we're just trying to get our next medley finished so we can release it for all of you to hear. -Steve
Follow the link in the description to the website of the Castlevania project and you can download the music as mp3s. Otherwise you can use websites like "youtube to mp3 dot com" to turn this video into an mp3. -Steve
Well the problem with that is it would ruin the whole "live performance" thing that we are going for if we had someone record a track over something we already recorded. I'm sorry you can't find any good musicians in your area. Best of luck to you. -Steve
If you're looking for Bloody Tears you should check out our new Castlevania II Simon's Quest medley: th-cam.com/video/Nj3dXVIBDKo/w-d-xo.html
Have you/can you (if not) done/do a Castlevania 64 medley? Please?!
134 people who didn't like this because they'll never never be able to play half as well as you guys.
Actually was hoping you would either do Rygar or Shadowgate...both have amazingly memorable soundtracks :) I'm sure I'm not the first to suggest these though.
So after all these years you have completed NES Castlevania games :) Well done, all medley sounds awesome!
@@nurse_thomas yeeees.
Fucking rygar!!! That music has always stuck in my head since childhood.
Good call
What an awesome night to have a medley,

love you too brah.

What is music? A miserable little pile of notes!

I listen to this whenever I am struggling at work, and I'll be damned if this isn't like finding a pork chop in the wall.
Lucky you, all I found was a wooden steak, no potatoes.
In the first castlevania it was a werewolf chop👍🏻
@sadriani We learned the songs by ear so there is no tab for it yet. But we will be making tabs as soon as life stops being so busy.

That's a pretty cool idea. Although there are plenty of other songs from the game that we want to cover. Maybe we can do a regular OoT cover first and then we can come back later and do a Warp Song medley. Thanks for the suggestion Lady Saturn.

Years later. I appreciate how you guys went ham on Heart of Fire. its my fave from this game, and there arent too many remixes of it.
Follow the link in the description to the website of the Castlevania project and you can download the music as mp3s. Otherwise you can use websites like "youtube to mp3 dot com" to turn this video into an mp3.

this one is special. it has an own atmosphere. amazing
Well the problem with that is it would ruin the whole "live performance" thing that we are going for if we had someone record a track over something we already recorded. I'm sorry you can't find any good musicians in your area. Best of luck to you.
