Want to do similar to my 2009 Expedition, but not so over the top. I’m a contractor and is my work truck, and do travel on highway to sites (that may require more then street stock). My biggest issue is IFS and IRS , no leafs

(IS THERE ANYWAY TO REACH THE BUILDER OF THIS RIG? I'VE GOT A TON OF QUESTIONS!) I've got a 2003 Escalade ESV (suburban dubbed the Escabubu) that I absolutely LOOOVE. However. I lothe that it's ONLY AWD!!!! :/ So I've got on a few Caddy forums and asked about if anyone had converted over to real 4X4? I got NOTHING but a crap ton of dumb comments.. I've already got this truck I love it and I want to get back into 4wheeling and overlanding with my family of 5. Hence I love the size of my caddy. I never understood the moronic decision to completely redesign the the drive train for the Hummer 2, escalade series and the denali's of this era? The auto 4x4/ regular hi/low 4x4 from the tahoes and suburbans were perfect! Why the heck would they waste all the time and $$$ designing a pointless awd system! Simply stupid. Side note. why did I buy an awd caddy if I knew about all this??? Well Short story is I picked it up for $2800 bucks did a little work to it and expected to flip it for a few bucks since I was able to get it sooo stupid cheap! However this big idiot fell in love with the truck now it's sitting in my driveway as I sit here.... So I've been contemplating straight buying a wrecked 2500 series GM truck since that's basically what my cadde is but with a few minor changes and some caddy badges. Oh and AWD>... So I'm thinking that I'll just swap the drive train from the 2500 series and get the whole truck so I have ALLL the parts I need to do my conversion then I can also have the benefit of converting over the the 80 series transmission from the 60 series the escalades came with. So I'd be looking at using everything from the donor truck but the engine since mine is very healthy,( I'd probably crate up the donor engine Just in case and throw it in storage for when my current 6.0 wears out...) I'm talking axles and ALL! Now I'm not desiring to go anywhere near as big as your truck but I do really want functional 4x4 and I'd like to get a solid 4" lift on some 35's or so. I need to keep it low enough to function daily, plus I'm a disabled VET with some issues. So I can't get too crazy here with budget or all the rest that goes with a budget like this.

Very easy to swap an NP261 into them.

  • @bartbarnett2811

I mean I know it's not ideal for off-roading but I would have had to keep the all-wheel drive and you can keep the all-wheel drive and have a 4:1 gear reduction by using the Hummer h3 or H2 wait I don't know about the H2 but I know for a fact that h3t alpha has a 4to1 gear reduction width all wheel drive. They call it full-time four-wheel drive and it does act a little bit different than the Cadillac all wheel drive because in wet slippery road conditions I could definitely drift in my Hummer I had the h3t alpha with adventure package I think all the office have it but I don't know. I have never been in a more capable truck from the factory. My jeep had all kinds of upgrades on it. And my Hummer outperformed it in every scenario except for creeks if you're going in a creek you need a Jeep. I can't remember what Jeep it was the long Rubicon but not a four-door. And something that always drove me crazy if I put my Jeep in second gear and in four low sometimes it would still want to shift into first. I can say the Hummer broke CV axles until I beefed up the front diff mounting but I shattered the transfer case in my Jeep the Hummer never didn't get itself home. I drove a h3 with the five cylinder and dear God why did they ever put that in there. I don't think you can get over 70 in it and my Jeep could cruise down the highway at 80 no problem. And in my h3t alpha the 110 was nothing it didn't even start to slow down until about 125 but at 130 you're going to die cuz it starts oscillating really bad. This was all on closed course of course.

Body, frame, and driveline. Just some custom suspension work and a couple of tough axles. Front end is some work, rear is easier.
