    With the fuel setup I really realize how useful and convenient a large fuel tank is. 40gal needed for your trip, and with the 36gal tank on my F-150, I'd only need one extra can.

    • @EAGLINWRX
      @EAGLINWRX ปีที่แล้ว +11

      That is if you are also running at 12mpg off-road. If you’re averaging lower you’ll need more.

    • @paxundpeace9970
      @paxundpeace9970 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You likely consume more fuel then usually off road so plan with two extra cans for a trip like that and maybe even an additional spare.
      Second have not only one fire extinguisher have two small one's like he had and a large one.
      Maybe get some more water too.

    Regarding fuel, I'd recommend fitting an auxiliary fuel tank underneath the truck in the same place as the stock spare tire goes. Remove that and you can fit a large tank. We did that and along with a 2" body lift it enabled us to have close to 70 gallons of fuel. All underneath the truckbed in a self-contained system. Useful when snow wheeling in a 44" modified Tacoma in Iceland.

      Better to be over prepared from a survival standpoint than not. Especially going off grid and into the wilderness. Not going on the freeway where they can stop at the next gas station to restock and refuel. Only thing they are missing is a gun/rifle to protect themselves from bears/cougars/wolves and other animals. Or hunt for food.

    Gat a Sawyer squeeze water filter for emergencies. You can get water from streams, springs, and puddles. I go backpacking and never have dishes to do. I package all my food in 1 pint Freezer Bags. Breakfast for example, I put 1 cup of Raisin Bran + 1/3 cup NIDO into freezer bag. When I want to eat, I add enough water to cover, shake, and eat out of the bag. I package Dehydrated Refried Beans & Minute Rice + Taco seasoning + Dehydrated Cheese Powder. I add boiling water when ready to eat. Instant Mash Potatoes plus boiling water, then add cheese & sour cream, and bacon bits... Instant Loaded Potatoes. No dishes, because I am eating out of the freezer bag.

    Don't listen to the haters bro. You built an amazing truck! Those that talk shit are just jealous they don't have the same thing. Work hard, buy what you want, and enjoy the life you have. The outdoors calls us all, and how we get out there is determined by our budget. If you don't have much to throw into a truck, you can still go out and have a blast; albeit with less amenities; but if you have the funds to build up a dope truck then do it. I love to see your excitement for the hobby/ lifestyle, and I hope these fucktards that throw shade on you don't inhibit your desire to share your journey. I loved the video, and I hope to see more!

    Basically, what we've got here is a gas powered tent w/ basically essentials and some nons thrown in. I'd done some things differently. Basically the entire mindset going into the build. Assuming this ride was basically only $100,000 and its going basically 500 miles we've basically spent $20 a mile. That's a great deal when you think about after the trip we've basically got a free truck for another 400,000 miles or so.

    I love all the gear but I've found camping is more fun the less I bring. Now I just throw a couple packs in the truck, one for me one for the wife. A couple bins in the bed. Recovery gear and cook ware. Portable fridge. Goal Zero battery bank. 3000W generator. Yeti cooler. A few Roam boxes with camp gear, tools etc. Rooftop tent. Also a ground tent as a backup. 4 wheeler on my off road trailer. 40 gallons of extra gas on my rotopax mount. 10 gallons potable water. Roof mounted solar panels. 4 extra cold weather sleeping bags. Portable camp shower plus toilet. Fold out awning. Portable screen plus my projector so we can watch outdoor movies. Couple jetskies on my trailer as well. Also gotta bring my wood carving kit plus my travel taxidermy kit. Few dozen hunting rifles. Dog sled. Water desalination kit. Portable chemistry set. Fireworks. Just the basics.
    That's about it. Keep it simple. Best way to have the most fun out in the woods.

    Wow....very nice truck. Very nice gadgets/gear. Gotta be over $100k in that thing.
    Not trying to hate...but this sort or giant money corporate sponsor style of build is getting a bit old. Slow mo on all the logos and calling out specific brand names. I hope guys that are new to the hobby or guys w families who don't have sponsors/giant disposable incomes realize that you don't need anywhere near this amount of stuff to take a trip like that. I've done that trail many times and for the most part a stock 4x4 can do it. Twice a year I take off road trips where I don't see pavement for days/hundreds of miles. I don't take anywhere near this much stuff. A shower?? Really? C'mon guys.
    PS why are you packing 100k worth of gear and using dollar store instant coffee in a French press. That's just plain wrong.

      @Franz Hernandez coming from somebody with some off-road experience, have done a number of runs with groups in Nevada, Cali, and Arizona, the Tacoma is probably your best bet if you want to really go places. A lot of those trails can be pretty narrow and those are some expensive trucks that may likely take a beating. Taco’s can almost go anywhere a Jeep can depending on how you build it. They are all great options tho. Just don’t be afraid of scratches down the length of whatever you get. Just wanted to dive my 2 cents.
