- J.S. Bach: Two-Part Invention No. 13 in A minor. I've recorded it in 2 versions, this is the slow(er) one, in which I managed to render the two voices playing with each other more clearly (or at least I suppose so).
My favorite piano piece ever, can't even tell how long I have been studying it and how many times I have played it! And still, at every session I learn something new, both technically and musically, like getting new connections between the parts, new ideas for voice contouring, better eye for detail and so on... Bach's power!!
I also want to acknowledge the help of several piano players/teachers here on youtube, whose videos helped me a lot go through this piece with more awareness and understanding. Love you all!

Slow? To my ear that was the perfect tempo. So many Bach plyesrs crush the wonderful writing of Bach and much is lost in a blaze of flashing fingers
Thank you very much. Listening to it almost 2 years later I had the same impression too... At the same time, what is peculiar about this piece (and probably about every 2-part inventions) is that every speed you choose will reveal different details. If you play it slow, you will grasp the beautiful melodic movements, if you speed it up you will hear more harmonic effects that are created by overlapping the two voices. If you play it slow, this sounds "on the top" will not emerge so clearly... That's why I wanted to experiment :-D
I agree. Ultimately the goal is to make music worth listening to, not to show off the equivalent of keyboard gymnastic skills. If speed is the only goal, you can program computers to "play" any piece ever written far faster than any human ever will. (BTW, enjoyed this very much. Well done.)
@philmann3476 Thank you very much indeed 🙏🙏🙏
To mind it is far to slow. It is obvious that the technique is not sufficient to play faster.
No pianist would play it at this rythm.
To my mind ....
Lovely. As Colette described Bach, "that sublime sewing machine". My sister and mother used to play this piece, brings back many memories of times and places. Thank you.
I agree with you! Lovely memories indeed, thanks for listening
I love this piece. You did such a great job. Your performance is just perfect. I will keep coming back to this one. Thanks for sharing. Thanks again for this fantastic gift today.
It's my favourite 2-part invention, and one of my favourite pieces ever... Many thanks for your nice words 💛
so beautiful‼💕
Too kind 🙏 For sure I love this Invention!
I think that the piece is played in perfect tempo.
Lovely.
Thank you so much!!
Вы представляете насколько круто научиться так играть?!
Спасибо! Я так люблю это произведение!!
This is music.
Yes, definitely agree, Bach is Music!!
If there's one piece of advice I can give you, it's: make linked pairs during sixteenth notes, otherwise it risks sounding too flat! Moreover, if this piece is played slowly, you have to be able to exploit the beauty of the sentences, and not just play them as they are written, don't forget that we are in a baroque piece!
Congratulation for your play!
Thank you. What is tricky (and funny, in a way) about classical music is that you think you've played with the right intention, phrasing, dynamics etc.... but nothing of this reaches the listener 😅 I guess it's part of the game... Baroque is probably my favorite period ever, musically speaking. Thanks for passing by and taking the time to listen to this piece and articulate your comment. Best!
Beautiful
Good version
Медленно играть сложнее. Эту инвенцию, как по мне, очень круто играть в таком темпе, прямо пропевая.
