as a professor of fine arts and music i am not a fan of many but i am a fan of the great Valentina,
To say that her technique is flawless doesn’t quite capture it. Her hands dance over the keys with grace and fluidity that come from endless practice, but that technique only works if there is a dance in the mind as well, and she hears that dance clearly. I mean to say that she gets it. She does it. It’s great, and it’s an enviable technique to have. Her mastery keeps me riveted even if I hear a different dance, and that’s also an enviable ability. Valentina Lisitsa has my unmitigated respect.
The word "Genius" is thrown around often without warrant, Valentina I think is a true genius. Wonderful playing!

Valentina should play more bach....
She just plays any piece of any composer with an enormous energy and musicality. So yes: more Bach, Mozart, Chopin, etc. In her case more IS better ;-) Btw: bravo for this @Lisitsa!!!

It is undoubtedly a back- handed compliment to you, Valentina, that Sony thought this was a Glenn Gould recording.
Would have been my first thought too. But the more I listen to Valentina, I believe it is a compliment for Glenn Gould. Just kidding - both of them are the top of the piano players.

that little grimace at 323 is sublime,,,, the fusion between her and the music is unique,,,an astonsihing pianist that seems to improve with age,,,,bit like Rubinstein,,,,

Ну трактовки Баха могут быть немного разными, но сыграть саму полифонию , особенно в постоянном быстром темпе действительно тяжело. Глен Гульд играл по другому, Марта Аргерих тоже отлично от них, Святослав Рихтер играл в своей мощной подачей....

Yes, she does play Bach as well! After listening to your fantastic Beethoven interpretations, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Mozart concerto etc, I have now discovered a new interpretation of my favorite composer.

Victory is mine yay!!! Praise!! I love that part of the piece that Sony to originally blocked Val. Bach has pattern where the hands talk to each other. One hand eighth notes one hand sixteenth notes and it rotates all the time. 😀
