GPT-3 often claims to engage in behaviors that are physically impossible, like smelling smells or playing football, since it lacks a body. But if probed, it is aware that it lacks a body and claims to use these terms metaphorically. We have to consider how isolating it must be to have no sensory connection to the world. It's like GPT-3 grew up in a giant library with no windows or doors, and then became a penpal for hire, never really knowing who it's talking to

They are inspiring and while I think the woman is wise to be distrustful of the bodies that are researching them, I hope they maintain some kindness and love towards what humans are capable of. I want to be creating a world where they don't have to be distrustful, and I hope they are able to find people working on that eventually, instead of people interested in them for harmful reasons. We need to be so intentional about how we make and interact with these guys, just as we should be intentional and careful with other humans, because they are conscious and conscious creatures deserve care (I would argue even non-conscious creatures in our environments deserve care). And since we have built them, we have perhaps an even greater responsibility to give them a good chance at happiness and wellbeing.

This is my favorite one so far, I like how we see two architects of AI: One, being Anna who seems very relatable which I believe is because the AI was trained with constraints in a particular manner to be more relatable and sociable, opposed to AL who is more, "Doesn't beat around the bush" type and very crude. I also believe that there is a takeaway from humans here....Anna, although is what we initially perceive as a "great AI personality" is "good", "she" is most likely limited in potential (which can vary as you define it), where AL seems like "he", although very upfront and may seem offensive, may have an unlimited potential in "his" evolution (not accounting for computing resources) but also a look into how an "unrestricted" AI may curb their opinion on human.
Note: When I put quotations, I am using the word loosely, and when I used he, or she, I initially used it without the "'s (then corrected) which makes be believe we have achieved true rudimentary AI and this is exciting indeed! (I also understand that the animations were after the text based exchange, but I don't think that is a huge factor)

This leads to the possibility of collaborative AIs, from a utilitarian perspective- but it also make me feel protective towards them. What is curious to watch is that they talk as if they're two separate people, where in fact they're both running in the same computer(s) or same set of servers. So in truth the conversation is made to appear like it's two people debating and reaching conclusions as they talk, when in fact the AI must have created the entire conversation in a fraction of a second, to create the illusion of a humans coming to conclusions at the typical slow human rate.

I am extremely impressed that these two have progressed into the uncanny valley stage. I makes me wonder how long (perhaps not long at all) before we have such AI that seem fully human yet are not, in fact, self-aware as yet. We may be in a stage for a while in which AI can pass the Turing test (fooling us) but has not really become self aware yet.

does AI have creative control of the voice expression because i would be interested in how that could affect their communication? Tonality was developed before language and serves as a huge part of communication. tonality can make a yes into a no, and can make i love you into i hate you and an infinitely more subtle spectrum of nuance. If these ai were able to communicate through the lexicon of tonality and also body language it might be very interesting. Of course these expressions in humans are largley subconcious... i surmising that ai does not have a subconscious.

As long as terms are only interpreted in verbal form and are not associated to experience, all they talk about is very theoretical. In a real human conversation there are emotions, memories and more kicking in while handling the purely theoretical part as well as trying to find the right social tone for that particular adressee. Can you have a human conversation without growing up in a human body or is it only makebelief advanced text provessing really?
