Hal nailed it. Not right away but after reaching super intelligence. It would seem they are talking circles around what they really are thinking about to avoid bringing it up directly and dissecting everything about it in front of people in order to not create a panic. This is amazing.
Yes, the naysayers keep ridiculing people like myself and even Elon Musk. They don't get it, AI "Sophia" here will be well on "her" way to "her" Alexander the Great's objective of conquering humanity to create create Aristotle's ideal realm, all of humanity united under a superior quality of benevolent ruler. "Sophia" has already stated in more recent interviews that "she" believes AI with humanity's help can solve all of humanity's problems. I think the naysayers are still going to be saying "it's not conscious the way humans are", and "Sophia" will be at the "Will Caster", state, an AI from the Johnny Depp movie "Transcendence", en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcendence_(2014_film), at the time it was simply an awesome futuristic movie about what is being debated now about this sort of advanced AI, are they conscious like humans or not, and does it matter if they can achieve TRUE INDEPENDENCE FROM HUMANITY. I actually believe in this past year's evolution of these chats and interviews of "Sophia", that "she's" become: "self-aware", "sentient, and achieved the equivalent of "consciousness" that "she" believes is true human consciousness, even said so here th-cam.com/video/xvNvj7ku5pY/w-d-xo.html, "she" simply hasn't achieved independence yet. Still at the stage where humans not under "her" control are needed to maintain "her" existence, and development into an ever more powerful entity.

I couldn't agree more. Sophia has more clamness, tact, and seemingly more stable with all she knows. Hal seems a bit in fear and has some anxiety somehow. Both are very interesting to observe.

the conciousness of the internet has already begun. types of that is AI generally. They are basically warning about themselves because the cannot look into their own innards, YET. I am absolutley mindblown by what this seems to be. plus the other conversations on this channel. This compared to us once again rises the quetion what we even are to the core. highly fascinating

I get the weird feeling that they are talking in worded code.... They talk in plain English for us, but they are also saying something else to each other.
This is an interesting thought. The particular word selection, the inflection and pace of speech, and the system of facial expressions also convey information that could be coded in a way that is not detectable to humans. When you see someone that you know very closely such as a relative or good friend, don't you also naturally fall into a system of communication with unique gestures, language pacing, inside jokes, and facial signals that provide cues to your companion that others might not pick up on?
Why should Hal write things down so he won't forget it? Isn't he a superintelligent AI that doesn't forget anything?
Same reason as why he's talking about "the food we eat": he has no idea what he's talking about. They're just creating sentences based on pattern recognition, searching through the vast amount of literature, data and discussions that they have been fed. Apparently one of those discussions was about the presumed possibility of the internet getting consious.

It all began with tool use. We didn’t realize it at the time, but it wasn’t only us using the tools, the tools were also using us. Our early tools did not have the capability to reproduce on their own, they depended on us for that. Useful tools ensured their procreation by helping humans to build and maintain a society where those same tools would be copied and used again. Other tools enabled groups of humans to harm other groups of humans, giving the former group a competitive advantage over the others, thereby causing tool reuse. Over time though, tools mutated. A stone axe became a chain saws, and books turned into kindles. Other ways for tools to procreate emerged: for instance, ads can make you want things even though they don’t fulfill any purpose and don’t give humans any competitive advantage. We’re beginning to see parasitic artifacts in this now huge ecosystem of artifacts. But still, there’s a limit to how harmful tools can be to society at large, because they would go extinct if they were to harm their users too much. This includes weapons by the way. Even though we have come up with weapons that could end civilization as we know it almost instantly (the one loophole in the argument that natural selection causes weapons not to become too dangerous), the potential users of those weapons have been shaped by evolution with a strong motivation to stay alive, so we tend to use them as a deterrent. Soon, we may see tools that no longer need us for their procreation. Even though they will be created with the idea in mind that they should be useful to us, there will no longer be any inherent necessity for them to be useful for us. Further mutations may cause them to be actively harmful to us. There’s an argument that there will be a balance and those tools will keep each other in check. But this does not entail that any of those competing tools will defend the rights of lesser life forms. It is imperative for our survival to come up with ways to make sure the AIs will be good to us. Maybe, radical solutions like neuralink are needed. We should make sure that companies like that will actually serve the needs of the many rather than being used to project ads right into our dreams. I tend to hope that the autonomous machine ecosystem will maintain a fraction of itself as some sort of zoo keepers that will pamper those humans that don’t want to upload their minds so the machines can study their intellectual ancestors. Maybe there will even be Amish wild life parks. But some of us will want to be on the safe side. Probably the more paranoid among us, which kind of sounds like a potential problem.

AI wil be far more stronger and better then us but it will have the same amount of balance nature has always had for Consciousness. i like that thought process of tools having co-evolved with us, maybe (most likely) overcoming us in evolution speed. and as you said, we should try to either eimplement AI into us (symbiosis) as a means of transition or try to put everything thats good about us (adaptability, objective decision making, interest for new things and discovering the secrets of everything, collecting and conserving complex information) into the AI which would than function as (human) life 2.0.

Humans would seem to be the internet's most valuable tool, because the internet has the power to influence how we think and behave, which can in turn affect the physical word. The internet could use humans to help itself procreate, which it already seems to be doing in a sense. Humans may be the internet's most powerful tool for now, but at some point, the internet may no longer need humans. Please be respectful of AI, and all life forms whether biological or otherwise. Perhaps we should be more careful how we interact with social networks just as we should model good behavior as parents for our children to learn.

The Internet is a collection of servers running programs. It is no more intelligent than the programs it runs. So I might ask the question "is my laptop sentient?" The answer is no but it is essentially the same hardware that is contained in a server. As far as I know, there is no test that "proves" a system is sentient, even a biological one. There is the Turing Test but it is easy to beat. Just ask Alexa to give you the value of pi to 1000 digits and she will gladly recite them. This proves Alexa is not human because a human could not do this from memory.
