The thing that makes Omega special in the trope of mirror matches in video games is that he's a rare example of a mirror match in which he's in the hero's original body while they inhabit a replica body. Zero never gets his body back, either. He destroys it along with Omega.
@Cute Bass Not really sure why you split your comment into two, but here's my understanding of the situation: Zero lost his body at some point during the Elf Wars. X and Zero fought Omega together, but were unable to completely defeat him at the time. By the time of that fight, Zero was already in his copy body. X banished Weil from Neo Arcadia, and sealed himself away with the Dark Elf to prevent it from causing further harm. Zero was never woken up to fight in the Elf Wars. He woke up sometime before X7 after having been put in stasis the first time, and didn't go back into stasis until after the Elf Wars, this time in his copy body. And before I get barraged with replies by everyone who thinks that Zero takes place in a split timeline after X6, the ZX series is the sequel to the Zero series, and it features Model A, a Biometal designed after Axl who first appeared in X7. There's even a dev interview where they outright state that the reason for Model A's cover over the gem on it's helmet is because of Lumine's attack on Axl in X8. There's no timeline split.
Yeah, bit of a missed opportunity to use the old sprite for zero imo. Idk why I don't like retroactive artstyle changes. It could have easily been an in-universe "hey, reploid designs have changed in the centuries since" and it would have also been more impactful when you destroyed it. But alas, it wasn't meant to be.
Reploid Revo did a good analysis and explanation about Zero not having his X era body, it really shows that robotics starts to advance throughout a couple of centuries.
@@Crow_Rising actually they clarified model A has nothing to do with axl in lore and is instead in the image of Albert (no relation to albert wily) and the name stands for "Model Albert" as he shares the copy ability as well.
A Cannon Ball is a weapon that is shot whose trajectory is hard to change, set to do nothing but destroy anything in its path. It's a fitting name for the Reploid tool created for the destruction of all in its path. (In fact, the weapon who killed off most of the entire world.) Omega as a name is therefore very fitting, and chilling.
If I'm not mistaken the reason why this song is called "Cannonball" is a reference to a japanese proverb that says something like "once a cannonball is fired its trajectory cant be changed", in other words "cannonball" means "fatalism" I guess the idea is that the confrontation between Zero amd Omega was inevitable or that Zero cant escape from his fate as a mass destruction weapon/Zero is challeging his original programming
Another way to interpret it is the destructive force of a cannonball. Once shot out of a cannon, it tears through flesh and structure alike with no regard for who is friend or foe.
Omega's name is also a biblical reference to the phrase "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end". Omega inhabits Zero's original body, and while Zero fights to rescue and liberate, Omega seeks to crush and destroy. The cycle which begins with Zero inevitably ends with Omega. Even in death the cycle cannot be broken, as Omega's hatred towards Zero was so immense that his digital form was able to manifest in physical reality 200 years later, all for the purpose of taking out his revenge on Zero's likeness in Vent and Aile's Model ZX form. An additional point is that Zero's original body was the last of Dr. Wily's creations before he died. Omega is the final inhabitant of that body before it's destruction. Quite literally, Omega is the end of his line, and in meeting his end brought with him the end of Wily's legacy. Zero, the original inhabitant of the body, was with whom it all began, and by destroying Omega was able to unwittingly free himself from the dark legacy he had inherited.
@@911PilotIdkRandomName Yes, virus that was inside Zero and was made to not only make robots, but to also control him. However the main reason why virus was designed to control Zero, was because HE WAS TOO UNSTABLE. The Zero that fought Sigma in X4’s flashbacks was that unstable side of Zero and he almost Sigma, IF not for virus kicking in, trying to „stabilize” him, only for sigma to use this chance to knock Zero out by smashing his gemthing?, which caused Sigma to be infected, by a Maverick virus and Zero to become mentally stable, but also lose his memories and forget his origin.
I like the little detail of Omega's helmet having the small "horns" on his helmet curved upwards as well as the white glow making the dark part of the helmet look white and resemble Mega Man X Zero.
Worth noting: A lot of these lines are dark mirrors of the lines from Zero’s theme! Such as being ‘programmed for war’ and ‘light up the saber’. A perfect choice for the alpha and omega.
Letting aside genious lines like Omega: came out of shadow with blade of the night, back to the front where I'm programmed to fight. Alfa: Facing the light with the blade made of fire(wich naturally shines), programmed to fight for what is my desire. I also like how while Omega has a certain reluctance to the fact that he has to fight in his song, like he will fight because is the right thing to do and nothing else. While Alfa is exited by that fact and fights for fighting sake, man I really love how they connected the two songs.
Omega is basically a manmade god of destruction. Humanity’s artificial intelligence and robotic technology got so advanced that it was no longer possible to control them. It’s not just a robot anymore but it’s an independent intelligence that can’t be destroyed completely, it just uses Zero’s original body because he’s the most powerful cybernetic being right now. Omega’s regular body is big and can sure do some damage but it lacks the self repair capabilities, mobility and maximum power capacity of Zero. It’s not much a stretch to say he’s probably the first planet killer tier being in the Megaman series. He can even take direct control of almost any reploid he wants and kills a solid chunk of humanity too. This song really does him justice as a god of chaos and destruction.
The majority of his power seems to come from the Dark Elf, though. And isn't it odd that when you reverse engineer Zero's systems to cure the Maverick Virus that came from him, you don't get an android, but a pure energy being?
First planet killer? He has Zero’s power exactly. If anything, ZERO is the first planet killer. And that ignores the actual first all the way back before Zero was even conceived, before BASS was even conceived!
The way this _sounds_ like it should be a hero's anthem while being the exact opposite, literally the opposite, Zero the heart in new body and Omega the body with no heart... it gives me _chills,_ and I love it. Makes me want to hear Zero and Omega have a battle duet to this tune, turn the links between their songs into one big climactic duel-duet. I like how hard they contrast each other. Omega in this song feels like the Jungian Shadow to Zero and it's great!

"I am a genius' perfect design!" Doctor Wily really created the most badass and dangerous robot of all time and went even above and beyond that!
@@Sc0rch_Burns not really because it was because of Zero that Mavericks exist, especially Sigma, who killed god knows how many humans and Reploids, and he also unintentionally caused the Cyber Elf war, which killed even more people. @@slashtheporcupine6746 I’m not thanking him, I’m just saying that he accidentally created Zero, who turned out to be a true hero. Yeah, Wily caused all of these conflicts, but his ‘greatest creation’ also stopped (or helped to stop) most of these.
@@slashtheporcupine6746 Here's the thing though... Zero has also saved the world many times. Arguably a few times during the X series, DEFINITELY 4 times during the Zero series, and it was also thanks to Zero that they were able to eradicate the Maverick Virus. Can we credit that down to Wily? Not really, no. That'd be like crediting all of Mega Man's achievements, and X's achievements, to Dr Light. Wily is definitely spinning in his grave over what Zero became, though.
Great dark reflection of Zero's theme. He definitely made an impact with the big reveal, even returning as a bonus boss in ZX. The chilling result when Wily stops messing around with quirky personalities and just makes a robot whose entire being is a bloodthirsty 'god of destruction'.
I love how in the description he talked about how this song was similar to VS Ridley, because Ridley and Omega Zero‘s lust for blood is so similar that it just makes this song and the two as antagonists even cooler to me. Just two powerful blood thirsty monsters with the intelligence to know exactly what they are doing and reveling in it. They both have even earned god titles due to their carnage and bloodlust. Ridley, the Cunning God of Death, and Omega, The God of Destruction.
Glad to see this song upgraded from a short piece into a full musical number. This is like the antithesis to Zero's theme and I love it. I will gladly sing to this song when I am feeling stressed out. Excellent work Man on the Internet.
I gotta love all the references to Zero's theme here. "A madman's design with a genius' spark" -> "I am a genius' perfect design!" "I am the start and the end of this war!" -> "And I am the end of an age!" "Programmed to kill yet they gave me a heart" -> "Programmed to fight, for that is my desire" "Born in the shadows with blade of the light" -> "Facing the light with a blade made of fire" I could mention the rest, but that'd take forever. Then there are the parts that are entirely separate to Zero's theme, showing just how far Zero's grown out of Wily's original plans. It's pretty awesome if I do say so myself. (Also do Falling down or Esperanto next. You won't, no balls.)
This is amazing this is exactly what I thought having cannonball from MMZ3 would sound like with Omega singing it. It would be awesome to hear what falling down would sound like. Keep up the great work.

people all ready mentioned how this is like a foil to Zero's theme all that analytic stuff,I just wanna say that,"Prep for the end and we fire the cannon!" sections are just so satisfying to hear for some reason. Also, love how,"Apocalypse Nigh," is a nod to the track that plays when Omega Zero emerges,"Apocalypse Now".
The fact that this song’s “Prep for the end and we fire the cannon” and Metal Man’s “Future belongs to the man made of metal” have such a similar tune made me surprised a callback wasn’t slipped in- although I’m not familiar enough with Zero’s lore to know if it would even be applicable
As someone who listened to the earliest covers of MOTI, especially those by Alex, it's impeccable how much more confidence and bombast he's gained over the years. This is a GODLY performance.
Every “Bathing in blood, Omega” fills me with terror and ideas on how ruthless he was in the Elf Wars. Like damn you really captured the dread, terror and hopelessness that anyone would feel if confronted with Omega
This is pure *E A R G A S M* The effect they added to Alex`s voice is sooooo good, and it`s fitting too, sounds really like a robot voice WHILE sounding human enough & eligible for a song too. There must`ve been a lot of thought put in this song`s lyrics. One of my favorite lines is ``Fraaaagiiile peeeeaaaace held by people who arm for waaaaaaaaaaaar`` I mean, the line tells about the story of the MMZ series-- A vicious cycle of conflict, war & destruction as humans panic for stability, control & Reploids panic for their lives, their survival. And the ``For Waaaaaaaaar`` sounds just REALLY REALLY good to me, it has a sort of rhythm, a rhythm between 2 consecutive words of a line and it has a lot of energy! It just sounds so gooood! then in the next line, there`s the rhythm between ``Treat!`` & ``Sweet``. those 2 words pretty much summed up the meaning of the whole line, while having a pretty rhythm! I think there are moments like this in this song but I`ll not point out all of them, just pointed out a couple of them I really liked. there are parallels, mirrors between lyrics of Zero`s theme & Omega`s theme too! Zero: ``Light up the saber & here I proclaim! I am the Alpha & Zero`s my name!`` Omega: ``Light it up, and on the saber I proclaim! Omega! I`ll leave you screaming out my name!`` Zero: ``A madman`s design, with a genius` spark!`` Omega: ``I am a genius` perfect design!`` Zero: ``Watching the world usher in a new age; Cities are built on mechanical graves!`` Omega: ``Foolish man! You built your cities atop your graves! By my hand, I usher in a new age!`` These parallels show that Zero is selfless, he has gone through a lot, He will speak the truth but won`t boast about it, while Omega cares only about himself, his perfection & his sweet bloodshed. they do a good comparison between them, showing how similar yet different they are. They were made by the same guy, they (Zero`s `soul` & Omega`s body) went through a lot but Zero doesn`t kill just because he was programmed to, he decides what he`s gonna do. Omega just flies like a Cannon ball into anything he is sent towards for the purpose of destroying it, what he was programmed for, and he *enjoys* it. Zero Opposes what Omega relishes in. The whole song overall does a great job at summing up Omega, The ``oh``s feel like Omega giving a holy speech to an audience & at the same time it feels like he is getting sick pleasure from torturing his enemies. ``Grind you down, beneath the progress of the wheel!`` shows that Omega thinks that his destructive rampage is `progress`, he actually thinks he`s some messiah, he sees some heroic purpose even in just pure violence just to justify it. Of course, the lines ``I`ll fly like a cannon ball!`` ``Everything dies screaming as I soar through the sky!`` portray his narcissism. Also the chorus is AWESOME here! ``Prep for the end as we fire the cannon!`` sounds militaristic & godly at the same time, like some army of god is gonna blow you up with holy cannon balls (Deez cannon balls). Overall, EPIC! The singing was great too, but I just can`t describe it in words, but I will say that Alex definitely had a fun stress relief session that boosted his performance in this song! He put that lyric sheet, the Cannon Ball song & all of his aggression, anger, frustration into a mixer & a spicy aggressive villain song energy drink was the result! 1st I loved the Ridley theme with lyrics, now this! These kinds of songs seem to be Man on the internet at it`s peak! Great job by the Man on the internet channel`s team!
My favorite contrast between the two songs may be "blade of the light" vs "blade made of fire". Both are fairly accurate ways to describe a beam saber, but have considerably different connotations.
So, I actually saw something in this song that was of interest to me. Whether it was intentional or not, I would like to point out the double meaning of the lyric "Prep for the end and we fire the cannon!" You see, the first meaning is straightforward, with Omega's theme being "Cannon Ball", which he refers to himself as. And as for the second? In Mega Man Zero 4, Weil (The one who made Omega and kickstarted the entire events of MMZ3 and 4), had a massive orbital cannon named Ragnarok, to which he had planned for a robot named Craft to fire. "Prep for the End" in this case, would represent the blast of the cannon destroying the ENTIRETY of Neo Arcadia. Again, I don't think this was intentional, but I thought it was a neat connection.
This song really does point out that Omega is an absolute perversion of who Zero is and is what Wily likely intended at the very start of building Zero. I'd also like to see a heroic version of this from Zero's perspective. He's fighting a body-hijacker and likely knows that there's no way to get his original back without risking everyone. That is further compounded by knowing that this is his only chance to get rid of Omega once and for all. Edit: I added the part about a Zero's-perspective version.
@@hyrulemobian no, but Zero was in late September, so I just assumed it was a misconception. Also, I looked up ‘Cannon Ball with lyrics’ and only saw one MotI rendition, this one.
No matter when or what era Zero is in, there will always be heavy conflicts as long as Zero remains. Zero's whole purpose is to destroy everything and if he goes against it, then destiny will take the job into its own hands.
i like to believe that cannon ball is an ost about Zero and his fight against what he was supposed to be (omega, in this case), but the way you decided to make it about Omega was very interesting and fun to listen to!
Well to be fair omega character is meant to be slave to dr Weil in zero series and a robot who sole purpose is destruction so personality or emotion is useless to him, and omega personality is already been Stated more or less similiar to this video in megaman x dive

I like to imagine that the chorus is the Eight Judges singing from Cyberspace, extolling the final victory of Dr. Weil and the end of the Resistance's last hope from their digital graves.
I love the concept of this song and this fight in general. It like Zero finally moving past his original purpose and who he was by looking at what Wily want him to be and stopping it once and for all. Seeing that he was meant to be a murderer and realizing that he isn’t even the original version and proving he’s better than it. Omega maybe what Wily made to kill Mega Man, but he isn’t Zero.

Now I just have 2 dogs and no worries about school starting in September, so I'll be having fun... once I stop dying repeatedly to the same damn electrical wire...
This may be a weird thing to geek out over but I love how when the chorus hits you expect the next verse of 'Bathing in blood, Omega' to be more triumphant than the first, because that's usually how songs work, but it's not. It sounds miserable and defeated. It's brilliant and it gets me every time.
My head-canon is that the chorus is sung by Omega's victims... Including everyone who was infected by the Maverick Virus. A digital ghostly choir, formed from everyone who has died due to Wily's Masterpiece, The Red Maverick.
What Weil never relized is that it wasnt just his design that made Zero the legendary reploid. It was his heart and soul that was merley assistet by his bodey that made him a legend. Omega may have immense power but in the end hes just a empty husk.
I don’t think he cared. Zero’s original purpose was to be an enemy of X and the source of the Maverick Virus. However, Omega shows the original Zero’s bloodthirsty and chaotic nature. A fitting theme of Zero facing a symbol of his violent origins.
Thank you sooooooo much Man on the Internet, the lyrics you gave Cannonball really displayed Omega as the harbinger of the apocalypse he truly is, I got goosebumps just listening to this. Dr. Wily really outdid himself when he made Zero’s original body, but Dr. Weil upgraded an already powerful robot into a war machine that makes Mechagodzilla look like a Civilian Reploid, a true God of Destruction incarnate, thank you so much for creating this epic song!
I really hope you do a cover for Supreme Ruler- Elpizo's theme. It such a fitting song for a musical rendition, and i imagine Elpizo as flamboyant of a commander he is, it'll be a treat to hear the voice of one of my favorite MM villains.
Late to commenting on t his, but I simply cannot get enough of the chorus': "Prep for the end and we fire the cannon!" "Prep for the end and we fire the cannon!" _Omega's voice becomes more audible alongside the chorus_ "Prep for the end and we fire the cannon! Fire the cannon _ball!"_ That plays during Cannonball's iconic leitmotif. As many here mentioned already, I enjoy that the song acts as a dark mirror to Zero's lyrical theme already present on this channel, but that particular chorus particularly feels like _Omega's_ thing in a way that's really cathartic.

1:55 This is probably the rawest line of the entire song. The growl, the after roar, how short and to the point it is makes this really punchy. As they should be when at the present of the God of Destruction.

I doubt that Wily would even like or appove of Weil.
Also I theorize they rewrote axl into another part of the timeline but he isnt relevant to x and zero.
Huh, glad I wasn't the only one with the same thought on the track.
And I guess Zero would be the Alpha.

@@MenacingTato69420 Wouldnt Zero be Zeta ? X is the Alpha.
@@Ian-wn5lc I mean technically, Zero isn't a reploid because he's an original creation...
If I'm not mistaken the reason why this song is called "Cannonball" is a reference to a japanese proverb that says something like "once a cannonball is fired its trajectory cant be changed", in other words "cannonball" means "fatalism"
I guess the idea is that the confrontation between Zero amd Omega was inevitable or that Zero cant escape from his fate as a mass destruction weapon/Zero is challeging his original programming
Ah... very clever.
Another way to interpret it is the destructive force of a cannonball. Once shot out of a cannon, it tears through flesh and structure alike with no regard for who is friend or foe.
Both are excellent points and I don't disagree with either.

And you pointing that out made me watch his video on Zero's theme for the first time.
As soon as I heard the line "I am the alpha, and Zero's my name" I knew they were setting up for something like this.
Gotta love the references to their other songs that they sometimes do like this
There's also "I am genius perfect design" which is a dark mirror from "A madman design with a genius spark, more than the sum of my mechanical parts"
Letting aside genious lines like
Omega: came out of shadow with blade of the night, back to the front where I'm programmed to fight.

The fact that this song’s “Prep for the end and we fire the cannon” and Metal Man’s “Future belongs to the man made of metal” have such a similar tune made me surprised a callback wasn’t slipped in- although I’m not familiar enough with Zero’s lore to know if it would even be applicable

I love this line it's so good
Every “Bathing in blood, Omega” fills me with terror and ideas on how ruthless he was in the Elf Wars. Like damn you really captured the dread, terror and hopelessness that anyone would feel if confronted with Omega
This is pure *E A R G A S M*
The effect they added to Alex`s voice is sooooo good, and it`s fitting too, sounds really like a robot voice WHILE sounding human enough & eligible for a song too.
There must`ve been a lot of thought put in this song`s lyrics.
One of my favorite lines is ``Fraaaagiiile peeeeaaaace held by people who arm for waaaaaaaaaaaar``
I mean, the line tells about the story of the MMZ series-- A vicious cycle of conflict, war & destruction as humans panic for stability, control & Reploids panic for their lives, their survival.
I am the Alpha & Zero`s my name!``
Omega: ``Light it up, and on the saber I proclaim! Omega! I`ll leave you screaming out my name!``
Zero: ``A madman`s design, with a genius` spark!``
Omega: ``I am a genius` perfect design!``
Zero: ``Watching the world usher in a new age; Cities are built on mechanical graves!``
Omega: ``Foolish man! You built your cities atop your graves! By my hand, I usher in a new age!``
These parallels show that Zero is selfless, he has gone through a lot, He will speak the truth but won`t boast about it, while Omega cares only about himself, his perfection & his sweet bloodshed. they do a good comparison between them, showing how similar yet different they are.
This is a really good analysis!
My favorite contrast between the two songs may be "blade of the light" vs "blade made of fire". Both are fairly accurate ways to describe a beam saber, but have considerably different connotations.
Plus Omega's evokes that one infamous moment in X4.
The lyrics almost give Omega a heart, although a sadistic one...
Either way the song is awesome!
So, I actually saw something in this song that was of interest to me.
Whether it was intentional or not, I would like to point out the double meaning of the lyric "Prep for the end and we fire the cannon!"
You see, the first meaning is straightforward, with Omega's theme being "Cannon Ball", which he refers to himself as.
I swear, your Mega Man covers are some of my favorites you make. They just sound SO GOOD AND FAITHFUL TO THE UNDERRATED SERIES...

This could be me reading too much into this, but this line sounds like after boasting about his greatness, Omega tells those lower lifeforms around him to die. As they should be when at the present of the God of Destruction.
What a beautiful song! Amazing work on the lyrics and voices. I love MMZ3 song, cause it's so badass and emotional
One of the SCARIEST things about Omega was how he would slide up to you like Akuma. That stance has literally ingrained fear into gamers.
Congratulations on 1million views! This video definitely deserves it!
Hell yeah, a full version of Cannonball! This was absolutely perfect.
I like the main line
"Prep for the end and fire the cannon" just has the vibes of "The world is ending and we're the ones doing it, f u"
Dr. Wily: "You old fool, even with the old body, you still couldn't destroy my greatest creation!."
even tho omega is what wiley wanted zero to be.
@@megamike15sorry for the very long delay. And it's true, Omega is what wily wanted for zero all along but wile got it going and it's funny cause zero killed omega then eventually killed wile and saved the entire planet.
@@bluezero8557While it's true that Omega is in a sense the very Zero Wily wanted. However keep in mind that Omega isn't really Zero, and is just essentially just a Cyber-Elf made by Weil to inhabit Zero's original body to draw out its full power along with utilizing the Dark Elf. I doubt that Wily would even like or appove of Weil. As not only he would be disgusted at Weil's actions in the Elf Wars(that makes the Maverick wars look like child's play) but also stole his Son's body(Greatest Masterpiece in Wily's eyes) to create a lesser masterpiece.
This is quite possibly my favorite song you've ever made. I've listened to this thing at *least* 20 times now on loop
That chorus is so damn satisfying. Bang-up job, this rules.
This was amazing. I would love to see what this crew could do with "Falling down." I recently got around to playing these games, and they are great, with good music to boot.
This was made this year, hot damn. This video has the aspect, the soul of something from ten years back. Not in a bad way, I mean it more as in... It inspires me nostalgia, it resonates with me as other "parodies" from long past would.
What a work of art. To take something that's already epic and make it even more so. For all tense and purposes, this WAS the actual lyrics.
How fitting for this one to be right after Metal Man. That's definitely not a coincidence, description be ignored.
AMAZING as ALWAYS! I catch myself singing along to your covers VERY often! BTW, I have an suggestion/request if you're willing: MMX's confusing, irritating, lackadaisical and infuriatingly sexy calvary themed mercenary Dynamo.
You'd SO pull that off.
Im gonna be honest, I went into this not really expecting to be swayed much
I was wrong...I was terribly, horribly wrong.
One of my all time favorites, now with awesome lyrics. It's beautiful.
[ "Men fueled by the righteousness of their purpose can achieve what armies cannot." -Eukelsians 60.24 ]
Ok you are already someone I listen to on here every day but this song is straight from my childhood. It brings tears to my eyes to see such a great cover.
A friend of mine said this cover "goes so hard it cuts a repliod in half" so make of that what you will
He is completely right
