Wow.... this song. I remember hearing it back in 2013. And since then, I’ve been hooked. And to this day I’m still a sub. Gavin, the music you make is amazing and second to none. This still makes me smile. Your music is still just as good now as it was in the past. Never lose your special touch Gavin. Rock on my dude.
I remember when i tell my friend to played skyrim, we played together and shared our story and joke about this game, i heard this song with him. Now he is gone, everytime i heard this song always make me cry. Beautiful song
This is, and always has, been one of the greatest songs i have ever heard in my life. When i first heard it, i was so blown away, i couldn't stop humming and sing along to it for weeks, and more so when i was playing Skyrim. I have been listening to Heavy Rock music since i was 16 years old, i am now 58. I have also seen many bands live in my lifetime, form Iron maiden, Motorhead, Judas Priest and so many more but none of them can match the sound of this beautiful song that simply blows my mind. I love this song so much, i have told my wife that i want it played at my Funeral when i pass on. I don't want people to feel somber and in full of tears, i want them to sing along to this and head bang to the music or dance, tap their feet, do what ever they want but most of all enjoy the music to this awesome song that i simply just can't get enough of. I am not planning this any time soon so i hope this didn't sound too morbid. Thanks guys for a totally awesome and epic song. If Bethesda cannot see the power of beautiful sounds you guys produce for their next game, then they are missing out on chance of a life time. Thanks once again Guy's for a truly masterful song that will live with me forever. If i could give you 10,000 thumbs up i would. TBH, i think really big bands like some of my favorites, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Nightwish etc.... could learn a thing or two from you guys. Keep up the great work. :)
I sunk a huge portion of my life into this game. 9 Years later, I still come back to this song over the years and listen and think back how epic life once was.
I prefer the first part to the rock part but anyway great job really. I usually play Elder Scrolls games as an Argonian but this song shows clearly that Skyrim should be played as a Nord.
I played a Khajiit in Morrowind for the hops. Since Oblivion though, I've had a tradition of being the only albino Redguard. I will carry that to TES Online as well, if possible.
I play as all races. I have at least one character of each race, and you know something funny? I have never played a sneaky khajit, a mage altmer, an archer bosmer, a warrior nord, a warrior redguard, a warrior orc, or a spellsword dunmer. I love to break stereotypes, because in real life, not every single person of African decent, for example, are good at basketball. And you would be considered racist to think so. Just my twenty cents, I have nothing against people who play as the racial stereotypes. My favorite char right now is my argonian stealth mage though, she's pretty awesome.
I spent 4 hours trying to describe Skyrim to my best friend (who didn't know what I was talking about) then I went to TH-cam and saw this. Just HOW did you capture all of Skyrim in 5mins?!
The imperials call us criminals. thieves, bandits! But we are fishermen, craftsmen, farmers, soldiers! We are sons and daughters of Skyrim and we will show each and every imperial bastard who we truely are. Let them come and fight. We will show them the steel of our axes and the strength of of our shields! May Talos guide us!
@@keulron2290 The Nords were created on the Throat of the World by Kyne (Kinareth) and then were driven out of Tamriel and left for Atmora following the death of Shor (Lorkhan). Each of the Nine provinces of Tamriel personifies one of the original nine major aedra that are now the eight/nine divines. Skyrim itself personifies Kinareth, so the Nords are both figuratively and literally the Sky Children, the sons and daughters of Skyrim.
@@firelight1539 Where on Earth did you get that? That is not even remotely accurate. Nords are the Atmorans, humans who sailed from Atmora and massacred the Snow Elves.
@@firelight1539 Source? Also, you're incorrect. Redguards originate from Yokuda, and the Tsaesci came from another continent. So did the Dovah and Maormer. The thing about the Aedra is also incorrect. Cyrodiil, originally a jungle, was once the homeland of the Ayleids. The Heartland Elves. The only reason why the Empire is there, and the Ayleids are gone, is because the humans who were there rose up against the Elves who had enslaved them. Why isnt Cyrodiil a jungle anymore? As far as I know, Bethesda has never touched on this. The elves we see today (Dunmer, Altmer, Bosmer, and Orsimer) all originated in the Summerset Isles as the Aldmer. The Chimer, a group of Aldmer with different beliefs, left the Isles and spread out to the other provinces, and became three of the four. Orsimer were corrupted, not sure for the Bosmer, and the Dunmer were cursed by the Daedra. Altmer are literally the most pure and are essentially just the Aldmer. Argonians are also not technically a race. The Hist, literally sentient trees, are the only reason we see them at all. They were just lizards who were effected when they drank the Hist sap and became the many sub-species of Argonians we see. This is also how they gain a soul. You see, Argonians arent actually born with a soul, they have to travel to Black Marsh and drink the sap in order to gain one.
I joined the Empire, because I had serious doubts about an independent Skyrim's ability to destroy the Thalmor. Plus there was this whole "raging racism" thing that Ulfric had going. BUT Thalmor patrols all over Skyrim began suffering from a great many acute cases of death, and nobody knew what was happening to them.
Charlie Um I think this is more Nords than Imperials - the Empire was pretty cosmopolitan and doesn't seem to deliberately stick non-nords in ghettos, but the Nords are pretty racist and insular as a whole. Although yeah, the alliance with the Thalmor is the biggest problem with joining the Empire. Even though it is said outright that it won't last, the Empire could've been a LOT less zealous and strict about following the white-gold concordat in Skyrim. After all, it is SUCH an unruly province! We have no means of searching every little nook and cranny for Talos shrines! Oh no, look, our prisoners keep escaping! These Nords, eh? Well, what can you do? This forces the Thalmor to get more hands-on in their enforcement efforts and thus commit troops (who, of course, will suffer from severe attrition), declare war or let the issue go. Since they're not ready to go to war (or they would have already done that), they only have two real choices. But in my playthrough, well, I kinda did those things for the Imperials. Dangerous place, Skyrim. Lots of perilous peaks and cliffs that could ambush you and slit your throat. Very slippery, very easy to fall during patrol. Random dragon attacks, too.
Paul Zuk Tulius, openly insults Nora culture to his second who is a Nord.... he doesn't allow khajiits in his town either, he only cares about ending the rebellion, not helping the people or protecting anyone (say what you want about Ulfric, at least he wanted to help somebody).
Zevran08 Tulius doesn't rule Solitude ; Elisif does. All civil and administrative matters are handled by Nord Jarls, Tullius is just there to put the rebellion down and command the legions. Which does overlap and cause tension, of course. I was talking more about the Empire as a state, rather than any particular imperial commander.
And we stand tall Sons of the snow We will not fall Under these blows For our hearts they are hardy Our spirits are strong And our voices are lifted into This Sovngarde song. This is an awesome verse.
I THINK that the dragonborn, instead of Siding with the lesser of two turds, should start up his own army of anyone who wants to come, and conquer the world himself. Start with skyrim and work your way from there. Win over the companions of whiterun. Sway the mage's college of winterhold. Earn the trust of Riften's own thieves guild(Spying and information warfare pays well, thieves!). Crush the Legion and Stormcloaks both beneath the might of your powers, and army. Unite the land and do the nine proud. (maybe beat Talos' Record?)
Past Skyrim he'd probably be stopped. If not by powerful foes, then by the sheer number of foes alone. Not to mention that if he faced Nerevar, they'd likely be equally matched... to a degree. One killed dragons, the other fought mechanical horrors of the Dwemer, resisted the Tonal Resonators, defeated the Tribunal and killed Dagoth Ur, and is the first recorded non-Dwemer in history (since the First Era) that wielded all three of Kagrenac's tools.
One of the very first songs I had on my phone back in the day. I still remember it fondly. I actually still remember going into Blockbusters with my father and buying Skyrim for my Xbox 360. I played it for over 500 hours over the course of several months, replaying and playing over and over again with different stories for my characters, skills used and adventures had.
A lot of people seem to get racism and xenophobia confused here. Racism-The belief that some races are superior to others. Xenophobia-Dislike or mistrust of outsiders or foreigners. Yes, many people in Skyrim are guilty of the former, but pretty much everyone is guilty of the latter. No side is perfect in Skyrim. They all have their good and bad sides, and which side you agree with more is up to you. There are no right and wrong answers.
I think your definition of xenophobia is wildly inaccurate. It has nothing to do with trust. It has to do with hatred. Also, it's also strange that you cannot see how racism and xenophobia are linked.
I'm just saying how I don't think "racist" is what everyone in Skyrim should be referred to as, as I don't really think it is the right term to describe much of the prejudice there. Many prejudiced Nords, with the exception of a few, such as the guy in the Windhelm Inn, seem to dislike other races out of mistrust of them, as opposed to believing them to be inferior beings, which is what "racist" would imply. I am probably an idiot.
Thank you. I was just tired of every single Skyrim video ever having comments filled with "Nords are racist" when I didn't think for many of them that that was the proper word to use.
You know what, I am reinstalling skyrim. I wouldn't have believed it but this song has made me incredible nostalgic... all those adventures.... yes I am going back (this song helped to that)
The thing I love about Skyrim is all the hype and the atmosphere from all these songs and fan made videos, mods and everything, rather than the game itself. I always get hyped up and play it again, only to be disappointed and bored.
Everyone is like. The Thalmor would destroy Skyrim if the Stormcloaks won. Has everyone forgotten about who you are? You are the Dragonborn! You shouted down Alduin, the world eater. You wiped out the Vampire Lord threat, who's leader gained his power directly from Molag Bal. You traveled into a different dimension and destroyed the original Dragonborn, and gained the favor of the god of forbidden knowledge. Your Thu um can dominate the minds of of mortals, and immortals alike. You are probably the most powerful mortal to live since Tiber Septim. You rent the empire in two. Trust me, Im pretty sure that the Aldmeri Dominion wouldn't get so far against a united army of Nords, and dragons who's wills you've bent to your own. And don't forget the Dragonborn himself will be there. The Thalmor would get destroyed.
+Sam Kirkland And the Dragonborn is sniped by 35 consecutive Ice Spears from the aldmeri mages and die, and then the rampant dragons and all the bullshit makes the nords lose.
Roses are red Gaming is fun You are carrying to much to be able to run Note: Don’t know who make the poem, I saw it a lot of comment sections and I thought it was very appropriate for this video.
... We make jokes, but try carrying 5 armor sets, 16 weapons, half a ton of jewlery, food and miscellaneous shite that you find along the way, and try walking across an entire province twice without sitting down or resting once. Oh. And you have to kill dragons while you're doing it.
I love this song, but unless they've played Skyrim or any Elder Scrolls game, it won't have the save effect on them. Granted, a few of them might have played it, but I'm willing to bet that most of them have not. As a Skyrim song, it's fantastic with it's references and whatnot, as are all of Gavin's video game songs. As a standalone song, without having any ES knowledge, it's good, but nothing that hasn't been heard before.
Blueman Plays You make a fair point, but it's still a fantastic song. And as a norwegian (and that nords basically are vikings but with other names on stuff) I can connect to this song, giving me a proud feeling about my heritage. Vikings ftw! But thats me, I still think a teens react to miracleofsound would be cool.
Man this was the 1st MoS song that i heard and then well came many others. Great GREAT job Gavin!!!!!! This song, along with Wake the White Wolf and Halfman's song, is in my top 3 MoS songs. You Gavin are a bloody genious!!!!!!!!
Bradley B Some do. Others fight because they believe in the Empire, even now. Especially now. Others fight for the glory of the legacy of Talos, known as Tiber Septim. And yet more fight for more than a single nation, instead for the unification of a continent. But yeah, what do I know? Skyrim belongs to the Nord's, so I'm told.

Wrong universe but love the reference. Actually, now that I wrote it out, I guess it is possible for Smeagol/Gollum to have ended up in Skyrim upon death... Wait... but that would mean... Oh shit. We're doomed
The time has come for Skyrim to have a hero again. Maybe you're still young. Maybe you're not the hero it needs. Yet. But what you are now isn't what you have to be. Give it 100 hours of gameplay and you'll see. You can always be better than you are right now :) (Also, SO FUCKING PUMPED FOR THE REMASTER, HNNNNNG.)

yep 10 years later still gold
It´s been almost 5 years and this song still be epic and legendary
From the mists of the mountains a deafening call
Bellows down over the plains
On a host of battle-worn ears it does fall
Pushing out through the thunder and rain
These men of the north they have suffered too long
The anger it swells in their veins
Of the spirited roars of lost warriors' songs
Distant echoes are all that remain
And my voice is my violence
Clear the sky's frozen tears
And no more we'll be silent
With this Sovngarde song in our ears
And we stand tall
Sons of the snow
We will not fall
Under these blows
For our hearts they are hardy
Our spirits are strong
And our voices are lifted into
This Sovngarde song
Conquer the anger and ravenous rage!
Make it a part of your power
Pummeling down let your bloodlust engage!
Under your force they will cower
Feeling the fury so pure and so bright
Breaking the bonds of surrender
Under the moon for our home we will fight
And we will die to defend her
And my voice is my violence
Clear the sky's frozen tears
And no more we'll be silent
With this Sovngarde song in our ears
And we stand tall
Sons of the snow
We will not fall
Under these blows
For our hearts they are hardy
Our spirits are strong
And our voices are lifted into
This Sovngarde song
Sovengard So-ong
Sovengard So-ong
These perilous peaks
On the rim of the sky
I move in the midst
Of the clouds driftin' by
At the top of the world
On a white doomful day
Men of wisdom will show me the way
And we stand tall
Sons of the snow
We will not fall
Under these blows
For our hearts they are hardy
Our spirits are strong
And our voices are lifted into

Thank you very much! Thanks for sticking around :)

this was your first song I discovered and it made me fall in love with your music, 4-5 years later I'm still listening
Happy birthday, Skyrim!
Havent heard this in 8 years and I still remember the lyrics
All these years later, and it's still one of the best works this channel has ever created. A true testament of skill.
I like the sneaked in dragon tongue near the end, which a quick translate reveals to be /Clan Eternity Peace/ if I did it right. Pleasantly melodious for a thu'um, too.
It translates to, in meaning, "eternal peace, nord.", like something from a gravestone.
I do not know what Bron means in the dragon tongue but Ul means infinite and Drem pretty sure that is dream.
It's nord, eternal, peace
Yep, it's nord, eternity and peace/patience.
Wow....
Coming back to this 9 years later. Damn, the memories, the feels. Almost made me cry. Time flies.
Thank you Gavin.
My guy, I'm over 11,000 hours combined. Pushing 12k I'm pretty sure.
So... 8 years on, and just like Skyrim, this song still holds a special place in my heart. Thanks, dude
What a great song, I still come back to this after the years.
Coming back after losing my job, and my house, still not going to fall under those blows though, my heart is hardy and my spirit is strong
Also had a rough six years, Bradley. Hope things are looking up for you!
@@RealBradMiller man 8 months can change alot if you just hold on
@@RealBradMiller How are you holding up?

@@imaginationmaddness2176 I'm sorry to hear that, no matter how bad it is, it's always worth pushing through. Stay strong!
I prefer the first part to the rock part but anyway great job really. I usually play Elder Scrolls games as an Argonian but this song shows clearly that Skyrim should be played as a Nord.
no this song is to show how awesome skyrim is if you want a song for nords watch nord mead haha and theres always a choice for khajiit :P
jay ultica If you want Khakiit go watch Khajiit Like to Sneak :P
I played a Khajiit in Morrowind for the hops. Since Oblivion though, I've had a tradition of being the only albino Redguard. I will carry that to TES Online as well, if possible.
I play as a bosmer, but I should play it as a nord.
Absolutely amazing. I keep coming back to this. So good.
I Love how at 1:50 the guard at the front seems to wait and turn to continue walking with his friend.
I spent 4 hours trying to describe Skyrim to my best friend (who didn't know what I was talking about) then I went to TH-cam and saw this. Just HOW did you capture all of Skyrim in 5mins?!
The man was blessed by the 9 divines just to create this
This is the best song ever! it makes me feel like bursting out singing this song in the middle of class to share my love of Skyrim.
Actually, the sons and daughters of Skyrim are the Falmer.
i would give you a detailed rant on why empire is better but it's 12
You see, Argonians arent actually born with a soul, they have to travel to Black Marsh and drink the sap in order to gain one.
five years since I've listened to this song and I still remember all the words. iconic.
I joined the Empire, because I had serious doubts about an independent Skyrim's ability to destroy the Thalmor. Plus there was this whole "raging racism" thing that Ulfric had going.
BUT
Thalmor patrols all over Skyrim began suffering from a great many acute cases of death, and nobody knew what was happening to them.
* whisper'

Charlie Um
I think this is more Nords than Imperials - the Empire was pretty cosmopolitan and doesn't seem to deliberately stick non-nords in ghettos, but the Nords are pretty racist and insular as a whole.
Zevran08 i.e. Himself
Zevran08
Tulius doesn't rule Solitude ; Elisif does. All civil and administrative matters are handled by Nord Jarls, Tullius is just there to put the rebellion down and command the legions. Which does overlap and cause tension, of course.
I was talking more about the Empire as a state, rather than any particular imperial commander.
How can music inspired by a video game be so powerful? Awesome!
because video games are powerful
it just happens
And we stand tall
Sons of the snow
We will not fall
Under these blows
For our hearts they are hardy
Our spirits are strong
And our voices are lifted into
This Sovngarde song.
This is an awesome verse.
Ten years or more since I last heard this song and I still remember most of the lyrics by heart
1:52 Those guards have got to be Friends in this War...I see Respect and you got mine lad
10 years later and im still coming back
As a Northerner I can attest to the anger that swells in our veins
OMG after 3 years of listening to Miracle of Sound I'm still in love with this song
I swear I could sing this on the tallest mountain on earth and everyone on earth hears. This is how much I love skyrim.
Still one of the best skyrim songs ever made in 2024!
That would be awesome
I've legit thought this exact thing like 100 times

I played it for over 500 hours over the course of several months, replaying and playing over and over again with different stories for my characters, skills used and adventures had.
i first listened to this masterpiece in 2013 and even after 6 yearsi still love it
A lot of people seem to get racism and xenophobia confused here.
There are no right and wrong answers.
nicely said
I think your definition of xenophobia is wildly inaccurate.

Same here :) I'm gonna do a long and thorough role play.
The thing I love about Skyrim is all the hype and the atmosphere from all these songs and fan made videos, mods and everything, rather than the game itself. I always get hyped up and play it again, only to be disappointed and bored.
Sadness fills my heart as I read the comments and almost all are from 3 or more years ago. Lest we forgett.
I usually don't even like these type of songs, but this just made me want more! Amazing work!
One of my favorites.
+Daniel Kline its all about perspective. do you prefer skyrim become orderly, or do you prefer skyrim free ?
+Daniel Kline make sense :)
+Sam Kirkland And the Dragonborn is sniped by 35 consecutive Ice Spears from the aldmeri mages and die, and then the rampant dragons and all the bullshit makes the nords lose.
+Henrique Pacheco you forgot the fact that the dragonborn can stop time and space to drink
giorgi lobjanidze Useless if all the ice spears hit all at once. The mages have synergy.
9 years later and this is as epic as the first time, a real timeless Masterpiece
You just made me fart out a dragon with your epicness.

Good point.
Blueman Plays
You make a fair point, but it's still a fantastic song. And as a norwegian (and that nords basically are vikings but with other names on stuff) I can connect to this song, giving me a proud feeling about my heritage. Vikings ftw!

Dragonborn: I'm not here to fight. I'm just here to talk.
Enemies: oh shit.
Have you noticed that Imperial or Stormcloak, these men are all fighting like true Nords will. Fighting for what they believe in.
Imperials are fighting because their necks are in a noose, they have no choice.
