    Good job mate, i got the same modell got it for 20 $ and it does the job perfectlly, even found an iron coin at about 50-60 cm, so it-s pretty good. With the gold is a bit odd because of the trash, but not bad. great vid!

    The coil is waterproof so as long as you don't get the control box/connector wet you are fine.

      For the money I don't think it can be beat. Sure it is missing some of the features of the higher priced units but it has all the important features.

    Do you still have this model? If so, still like it? Been looking at the Fisher f44, Eurotek Pro, and others. If you've used the others, how would you compare it!
    Thanks!!

    • @chaddthompson
      @chaddthompson  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I do still have it, the only other detectors I have used enough to comment on are the older bounty hunter tracker IV, the whites DFX and the Whites V3i. As far as comparing the 3300 to these detectors I would say the following. It is better in pretty well every way compared to the Tracker IV, comparing it to the DFX and V3i is a bit more difficult because you are talking a pretty huge price gap between the 3300 and those models. But as far as comparison between the Whites and the 3300 the 3300 is much lighter and is a better turn on and go machine than the Whites, the learning curve to the 3300 is much much shorter than the Whites. The whites are much more flexible, tunable, can have better depth if setup right and can be more effective at separating trash.
      For a new detectorist out of the four detectors that I have I would for sure recommend the 3300. It's just easy to use and learn and learning a detector well will play a large part in how successful you are with it.

      You want to get a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter. They sell them on amazon and maybe even walmart. Radioshack carried them back in the day too.

    So that's a lot of pennies. 😉

    Please - When the pointer moves in the metal detector and heads towards the $1 sign, what does it mean?

    • @chaddthompson
      @chaddthompson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That means the detector thinks the target is a US silver dollar coin. But it could also be a huge chunk of buried iron, you can usually tell by pinpointing to see how big the target is.

    Yes it can, gold is pretty difficult to pick out of common trash items. If you want to find gold you pretty well have to dig everything.

    I do not know the value. Real of the 3300 model but I bought one on ebay for 116 dollars. is in perfect condition. I was looking for a 300 garret so I want to know if they are similar and if it is a reasonable price. Thank you for your quick response and you got another follower

    • @chaddthompson
      @chaddthompson  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the follow. That seems like a pretty good deal to me on the 3300. I don't have any personal experience with the Garret 300 but it doesn't look like the ground balance is adjust able so it may have issues in tricky soil situations. I would probably choose the 3300 just based on the ability to adjust the ground balance.

      Sandra Wiseman why would you not dig it up? It kind of defeats the purpose of searching if you don’t dig the signal you find.

  • @TheGbortnick
    @TheGbortnick 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Because of you I bought this unit for $84 at Costco. I was using a Tesoro but after they went out of business I’m out of there. With the Tesoro you would depend on sounds for discrimination. Aluminum wouldn’t give a solid tone but break up. Does this do anything like this beside vid numbers? I’ll have to learn ground balance!

    • @chaddthompson
      @chaddthompson  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great I am happy the videos helped out. I think you will like the 3300, just like any detector the more use it the better you will get with it. The discovery just has different pitch tone for different metals. Lower tones are less conductive metals and higher are more conductive in general.

    • @TheGbortnick
      @TheGbortnick 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chadd Thompson do you have any suggestions on how to hunt with the 3300? I want to find some gold but don’t want to dig everything! With my Tesoro I would get a clear audio tone on good targets and it would break up on bad targets. Please advise!

    • @chaddthompson
      @chaddthompson  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheGbortnick If you want to find gold unfortunately you have to dig pull tabs no matter what detector you are using. It's the same with my whites v3i and dfx. If you are coin shooting and looking for silver on the other hand you can pretty reliably just ignore pull tabs. But if you want gold you have to dig those tab signals too. Also once you get more comfortable with the detector you can tell from the VDI if it jumps around quite a bit normally it is either a trash signal or there could be something in the same area as the good target.

    • @chaddthompson
      @chaddthompson  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can upgrade the coil I have a DD coil on mine, the one you want to get is for a fisher f4 with the push on style connector. This is the one that I used www.metaldetectors.com/11-dd-fisher-search-coil-with-push-in-connector-f2-f4

    Hey Chadd , I was hoping you throw a 2 gram gold nugget in there to see if it pick it up ? 2 gram is equivalent to a size bb I guess ? She was digging up much bigger nuggets with it ! I heard that gold pops up as a pull tab?

    • @chaddthompson
      @chaddthompson  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can but it mainly depends on the size and shape of the gold. Basically if you want to find gold jewlery you dig a lot of trash, that's not only with the 3300 but really all detectors. Some of the higher end detectors do better job but if you don't dig tabs you will miss stuff for sure.
