I asked the dealer the same question. It’s a new car model and is still getting a foothold in the market. Even though it’s been a top seller in Japan, the car in the video is a 2023 model not much difference between the 23 in the 24 year models. They are out there but they are hard to get and they sell quickly. Where I live I’ve only seen three others in town I have the newest one. 2024 the car promotes itself aside from advertisements in videos that are on TH-cam. for me just driving it around town. I’ve had quite a few compliments and lots of looks. But as I mentioned being a new car model, they’re hard to get and they sell quickly. I have the XLe model and it does me just fine. 41 MPG . It does not break any speed records, but is definitely not a turtle.
I picked mine up a week ago and absolutely love it. I've wanted one for awhile but it was the 3.75% financing that got me to pick it up, and I got a 24 Limited for $42,500! I've been getting a lot of nice compliments and some "what car is that??" conversations. That said, I've seen someone else driving one about 3 times in the last few years. Hopefully more people like me were holding out for incentive rates.
@@chrissaylor7137 You got a great deal on your crown. I have a 2023 Crown Limited. I have seen quite a few here in Las Vegas in the last couple of months.
I sell Toyotas at Tufankjian Toyota of Braintree in Braintree, MA. I purchased a 2024 XLE in Oxygen White in early February, and our dealership has sold several of these. It really is a vehicle you have to show to the right customer. One issue we have is that we are not getting many XLE's or Limiteds, and some customers do not want everything that comes with the Platinum. AWD is standard on this vehicle, which may make it more popular where we can get the slippery white stuff, and TSS 3.0, with Proactive Driving Assist, which virtually makes it impossible to rear end the vehicle in front of you! The interior feels like a quality tweed cloth and personally I prefer cloth to leather, and the sides of the seats are bolstered and covered with Softex. Don't forget that the mileage #'s are phenomenal, because of the hybrid system.
If you don’t want an SUV, like every other car on the road, but you still want comfort, all wheel drive, and 40 miles per gallon. The crown is a great option with virtually no competition in the marketplace
I got my '24 Crown XLE a few months ago and have been loving it. Incredible milage for city driving - I get over 50mpg in gridlock conditions and 41 under normal circumstances. Feels very smooth and premium for a Toyota. And I personally love the exterior. I'm not sure why they're getting passed over either. In fact the dealer I got it from had adjusted it down to 37,500, which made it a no-brainer for me.
I just bought a Platinum. I love it but for a few minor annoyances. For the amount I paid for it in SoCal I would expect the hood to open up and stay up by itself. The trunk should have the newer feature of being able to open without having to physically lift it up. There are tons of other computerized features that are not the easiest to master and some customizations that the dealership has to perform if the owner wants those features. And what’s up with the colors this season!? It is nearly impossible to get any color where I am except the gray colors with black interior. The colors are meh anyway, but why can’t they offer the classic lighter gray interior? The black interior gets very hot.
you can usually get an aftermarket kit to convert th hood to stay open I've had to install several of these on my vehicles oover the years they don't cost much an work great
Great car I just got a 2024 this Sunday 5/19/24 traded my 2022 Corolla hybrid. My dad got a 2023 crown two months ago. I like the rear trunk emblem on your demo how can I get one?
Crown has been a leader in Japan. I just test drove the Limited today with my husband. We were looking for a 4 door sedan, hybrid, leather, easy in easy out for our aging and tall family. My husband is 6’2” and fit. His first complaint was the drowning sound it makes when you accelerate- it also felt like it was dragging. He hated it 2 min in! (I should say he’s a Honda dealer ). I tried it, very comfortable! I like the display ease of use, felt like I was hugging the road. I also like the fast back look! Should have been a sports back, make the moon roof open. At the end of the test drive my husband thought the car was too tight regarding headroom and his leg comfort behind the wheel was a bit too tight. I really wanted this to work out. He was pushing for a test drive for weeks. I’m thinking the platinum might interest his driving experience but that price… I personally love the crown and prefer the 1 color. I trust Toyota and their hybrid models.
OK Bryan, let me tell you a story… My wife wanted to look at SUVs so we went to a nearby Toyota dealer to look at the Grand Highlander for her. In the lot next to it was a Crown. I had no idea what I was looking at. The salesperson gave me the basics, and I was intrigued by its looks. I went home, researched it, and went back a few days later to test-drive it as a car for myself. They had a Limited and a Platinum ready for me. I brought a friend who was a real car guy. He’s been driving luxury brands for years, and he’s always up for car shopping. We took the Limited for a ride first. It stickered in the $49,000 range. My impression of the engine and drivetrain was that it was very buzzy. I hadn’t spent much time driving with a CVT transmission, and after a few minutes in the Limited, I determined it wasn’t for me at all. It did not feel anything like what I thought an almost $50,000 car would feel like. When we got back to the dealership, I was ready to leave. My friend suggested we go ahead and drive the Platinum because it was right there waiting for us. As soon as we started driving, I couldn’t believe how much better it felt than the Limited. That Hybrid Max system with the conventional 6-speed transmission and 340 hp turbo engine/electric motor system was wonderful. We drove the same route and I felt the difference between the $49k Limited and the $55k Platinum was like night and day. He felt the same way. Back at the dealership, we sat in the car and started to critique the interior. The best word we could find to describe it was that it was “fine.” Fit and finish was excellent, but it didn’t feel like a $55,000 car. Headliner, black. Dashboard, black. Seats, black. Just a thin line of contrasting bronze trim. There wasn’t a lot of padding on the dash and doors. The Camry XLE next to it had an as nice or better-looking interior. My friend felt that the Crown’s interior did not match the price point. I had to agree with him, but I still really liked it and wasn’t ready to give up. We were now inside the dealership looking at the model on the floor. I pressed the trunk release and heard a click, but the trunk didn’t go up. I was confused. When I went to the back, I realized that I had to manually lift the trunk lid. When I’m leaving Costco with a box full of stuff, I shouldn’t have to think about how I’m going to get an elbow under the trunk lid to pop it up. Next, I pulled on the hood release. The latch was easy to find and when I pushed up the hood, I was expecting it to stay up, but no. I had to look around for the metal stick to pull down from the hood and place it in the slot in the frame. Are you kidding me? Toyota’s quasi-luxury car that’s replacing the Avalon has a freaking hood prop? It's not a Corolla. But I still liked the car and even brought my wife back with me to drive both. She liked how the Platinum drove, but she said the inside looked like a “tomb" and thought $55,000 was a lot of money for that car. She wasn’t wrong, and the cheap feeling trunk and hood still bugged me. My buddy suggested I look at a one- or two-year-old “real” luxury car. Maybe something German or even a Lincoln or Genesis. I never buy used, but I opened my mind up to it. Four weeks later I bought a two-year-old Genesis GV80 with 16,000 miles. It still had 3 years and 44,000 miles left on the bumper-to-bumper warranty. The car is beautiful inside and out, has a huge list of features, and an incredible ride. Taking advantage of the fact that luxury cars depreciate quickly, I got it for under $47k which was more than $21k under its original sticker. I think Toyota blew it. I was so close to buying that Platinum, but for the money, it fell short. They made me reconsider my options. In my opinion, this is what Toyota should do. Start the XLE at $35k. With a cloth interior and that buzzy powertrain, that price feels about right. The Limited with its standard upgrades should start at $41k, and make the Platinum a plug-in hybrid and start it at $48k. Give us some kind of contrasting interior colors. And for god’s sake, spend a few extra yen on a gas spring for the hood and some kind of cheap, mechanical spring mechanism for the trunk. The value just isn’t there for the Crown. I really liked the car and want Toyota to be successful with it, but right now with the total lack of promotion and the previously mentioned shortcomings, it’s going to be tough. One more thing, that sexy, new 2025 Camry is going to directly compete with those Crown buyers. Maybe that's why a dealer just offered me an XLE for $2k under the invoice for my son. At that price, I'm thinking about it.
We are looking at a limited and they will do 44k for it. That seems reasonable but I still think the Avalon had a cooler-looking interior. I personally like the Crown's odd exterior- looks better in person than on screen. It makes more sense to get a 25 Camry than a crown. Spending about 4k less and getting very similar features (except maybe heated rear seats), more MPG, opening sunroof, etc. I would still rather have the Crown because it looks different- and that is the only reason.
I got a written quote on a limited crown for $42K plus tax through Costco buyer's program. I suspect dealers would go down to $40K on a limited plus 3.75% interest for 60 months
I bought a 2023 Crown and I love it. I like the height, styling, and reliable hybrid system. I drive country roads averaging over 45mpg, you can't beat it for a full-size car.
I ❤ the crown sedan & want one. I want the platinum in the heavy metal solid color. I m waiting on 2 things.... lower interest rates & for Toyota to cut the price like tesla did😮. It's a waiting game !
My husband and I were out yesterday to test drive a 2021/22 Lexus RX350. (We’re looking at these particularly for the V6 engine). I already own a 2015 Nissan Murano which I love but really wanted heated seats. I was never considering a sedan or passenger vehicle bc I prefer to sit up higher. My husband pointed out a vehicle someone was driving and asked what I thought. It was a Toyota Crown (couldn’t see the name but my car-savvy husband knows most vehicles) but I was smitten. He suggested that we go to a Toyota dealership and test drive. They only had the base model (forgot what it’s called) so we test drove that. I flipping LOVED it. From the moment you sit behind the wheel, the seat felt like warm hug. My husband’s seat was the same. The only drawback I could see when test driving was that you could hear the engine when you accelerated at a fast rate. The pick-up was quick, the steering very responsive, and this ride was so smooth and quiet feeling virtually no road bumps. (We test drove a new Venza last year and liked it until we drove on a bumpy highway, then it was loud inside the cabin and not impressive at all). This was nothing like that. We’ve been looking for the better part of a year for just the right vehicle and this is it. Ps. It turns out, my husband showed me a picture of the crown last year and I said, “Ew. No.” LOL! The photos of this gem do NOT do it justice. GREAT video, by the way, Brian, thank you so much!
I'm on the fence between the Crown and a Camry. I like the Crown better, but as you stated, resale value is a concern when it comes time to trade it in.
I think you hit the nail on the head in the video for reasons this car won’t sell 1. Lack of promotion 2. Price point 3. Lack of ability to stand out The Avalon made you feel like you were driving a Lexus. To me this crown is more modern than luxury. Why would I pay for this when I can get all the features and a similar power train in a loaded Camry
I never heard of it before. I wanted a car with great mileage that is easy to get in and out of. I wanted the safety technology and comfort. I really didn't want the panoramic glass so it worked out great for me. I bought a Crown XLE 2025. It rides super smooth and the mileage is awesome. It's very quiet and the sound system is amazing. I bought the oxygen white and I love how it looks pearly white. I love the leather seats that are extremely comfortable. I really love it. It superceded my expectations. 😊
I just bought 2025 Crown Limited with packages in Brown age color. I must say.. It grabbing people attention. People stop and look back. It has smooth and luxurious ride.
People are strait laced followers.Everyone buys an SUV---but not me. My Crown limited in supersonic red is a beauty to look at and drive. This is a car for people who live outside of the norm. Best ride I ever had in a car and if you know how to drive a hybrid you can get over 55 MPG in city driving.
I brought the xle trim level. Didn’t want the panoramic roof. It sits a little higher than the Camry making it much easier to enter and exit the vehicle. The main reason I bought the car is that it is manufactured in Japan. The Camry is not.
I like the look of the crown. I wish they did make this a hatchback. The signa looks nice but wish they offered the macadamia leather interior option. Also the price is a factor because you basically have to compare to Lexus. I definitely think there is a market for this car and suv ( and saw a cross sporty model) but need to market it more, and adjust price to fit between Camry but under Lexus as it is not one. Great video.
Test drove the Platinum a couple weeks ago in Japan. Its nice, smooth and good ride but seems basic for a Crown. Starting to think more along a Lexus 350XS now.
I bought a new 2023 Crown XLE in February 2024 after my wonderful 2014 Avalon Hybrid was totaled. I actually had never seen or heard of a Crown before I bought 1. I never even seen a Crown advertised before! The Crown is very stylish with a very comfortable ride. I only test drove an XLE. I didn’t want to pay for the more expensive models. My Hybrid Avalon had more horsepower than the XLE Crown but it has a good amount of power & it has a great tight ride. I’m happy with it, though it does not come with a CD PLAYER. I have so many CDs so now I usually only listen to SiriousXM Radio. It has a very roomy truck. All Crowns are AWD & are Hybrids. The XLE is great on gas. I would prefer leather seats but the cloth seats have grown on me. The Avalon gave me more for my money, but I’m now happy & satisfied with the Crown!
@@djplonghead5403 the 2014 Avalon hybrid had 200 horsepower, the 2023 Crown XLE has 184 horsepower. The Avalon had so much power, it was powerful in Eco mode. Don’t get me wrong both have a very comfortable ride but I enjoyed driving my Avalon more & it definitely had more power.
I drive an ES 350 2019 and saw my first Crown in the supermarket lot, and my reaction was “what is that, it looks so good!!! Had to go look and drive and was not disappointed! Quite for one, and not as quite as my V-6 ES but damn close. Sits higher and asking in and out so much easier. Built in Japan, reputation and track record is good. This is a value for sure, and with the 2025 the heated/vent seats are now standard. Did drive a Crown with the larger wheels and di not ride as well. Hard to even think about trading in my ES that has 28,000 miles and is all paid for, moreover this makes the move more compelling than ever. The Signia should also be a great option too! To trade or not to trade?? What say you Bryan???
In the market for a car, now. Test drove the Limited, yesterday, and I am impressed with the vehicle. But I've never seen an ad of any type in any media for it, and I live in the NY metro area, where ad placement was invented! The car has comfortable seating, especially for the driver; great acceleration, thanks to the electric motors; AWD,; it's quiet enough; very eyecatching; leather seats; but the trunk thing is weird---even the salesmen couldn't find how to open it. There is significant body roll, so it's not a sporty car, though it looks like stylistically, and it is a very comfortable ride, and you are elevated compared to other sedans out there, thanks to that semi-crossover design. I'm going to next test drive a Lexus ES, which is similarly priced, and I can get as a hybrid with similar range and gas mileage. But the Lexus has no AWD (only in the 250), and no split fold down seats in the the rear of it, either. Being in the Northeast, that AWD may tip me back toward the Crown. You can NOT find better gas mileage in a hybrid that what this Crown has to offer. Given that it also runs on regular gas, I think Toyota should be trumpeting the fuel efficiency, incredible range of nearly 600 miles, and the ease of driving and comfort of this car. If they were to just tweak a few things (like that trunk opening!), invest more in some targeted promotion, they could move the needle on getting this car out the door and into customer's hands. Also, I undestand they have a Crown Signia coming, which will be an actual crossover, and that might be more appealing in today's market. Good luck!
We bought a Crown Limited last month. It's our first Toyota and first hybrid. Love everything about it. Handling is fine, power is great and the gas milage is excellent. We traded a 2015 Mercedes E350 Wagon for it. We loved most of the attributes of the the Benz, but we never loved the seats and the technology was starting to show its age. We have put over 600 miles on the Crown so far, and have no complaints.
If I saw correctly, the sticker says 236 combined horse power. Not too different than Camry? There is another Crown model with turbo, that one has over 300 hp and stands out from other models.
It’s all about the price. I fell in love with it I. The showroom; looking at an LTD. As a retired corporate director, it suits my taste. But hard to get up off of $47 - $50K.
I own this car and am getting ready to ask for a buy back. I have 3 lemon law attorneys to choose from and Toyota sent me paperwork to buy it back. I spent 59,000 and its been in the shop 4 months of the last 15 months they just replaced the head unit, struts are bad, windows make air noise window is squeaking, doesn't get the milage they said, brakes have acted weird, hybrid revs, interior plastic get filthy ( I do have a car washer for every week), had one of may side panel plastics melt, and yea... just overall a beautiful exterior and A JUNK CAR!
Yes, I heard of it, researched it and actually was in the car. I sat in it. I hated the seat. It is a sport seat. On paper thought I would love it. I'm 60-65. A previous satisfied Toyota owner. If they changed the seat to a luxury seat, they would probably sell rapidly. Toyota missed the mark on this. Unless the target market was young sports minded.
I have owned Toyotas for over 20 years and never even heard of the Crown until I started researching the 2025 Camry. I just bought the 2024 Crown XLE last week because I got a great deal since they aren't selling. I absolutely love it! I think they aren't selling since no one knows they exist. Also, there is such a large price difference between the different trims, mentally you might feel like you are getting a bottom of the barrel car wuth the XLE when that is not actually the case. I just didn't see the value in paying extra for the Limited or Platinum features.
I own a crown limited. I've only seen one more in town. Youre right about no advertising. Pricing is a bit of an issue. I agree that the trunk should be a hatchback. Also, I would have liked a sun roof rather than just a moon roof
I bought a '23 Crown Platinum in June. Love it. I seriously considered the other trims, but those engines require 0W-8 oil. It is $21.00 a quart at Toyota dealership and cannot be picked up at O'Reilly's, Auto Zone, or Advance Auto stores. And most times cannot even be ordered on their internet sites. This made my decision for me. The Camry has that same engine also. I don't know why a DIY car owner would buy a car with an engine that requires oil that pricy and that hard to get. Maybe that oil will become plentiful and cheap soon I don't know, but I could not bring myself to commit to it.
Live in the Midwest. Love how it looks, have not driven it yet but no one is willing to deal off the over MSRP. Also lots have one or two (and they are the platinum edition). Would love for this (Limited version) to be my next car, but it is difficult to find and most are over $50k
I bought 2023 May 2024. I love it. Especially for the fuel economy. So much comfort and space. Yes price is extreme even for a last yr model. Wish it had the braking system the 2024 Camary has.
I bought the 2023 bronze with black overtones platinum in April 2023 for $58,000 out the door. I LOVE IT!!!! I still get stopped while im out asking what it is lol
We had a 2007 Avalon Limited, which I loved. We test drove a 2023 Crown…no comparison. Loved our Avalon much better. The Crown was smaller inside, noisy and not the best ride. The only thing we liked it was 4 inches higher off the ground. We were so disappointing. We love Toyota vehicles…so we bought a new Lexus.
Did a test drive on one of this. It's more like a Camry+ than a Crown, size-wise same thing just a bit more bells and whistles. Crown XLE is less premium than Venza XLE , less features, no leather, less room, cheap armrest in the back etc. but the price is the same. I think that's the reason not many are interested in it.
They didn't advertise well enough, but the online presence had me intrigued. From day 1 I wanted, but when it came out it was hybrid only.. would love to see a TRD all gas version.
A hellva good price, have you sold it yet? I'm looking at the Limited but HATE the panoramic roof. It's hot in SoCal and it reduces the headroom in the back seat. Cheers
I own that same exact car and it’s absolutely amazing the ride is so smooth and quiet. The gas mileage is awesome the 14 gallon tank is super cheap to fill up and it lasts me around 3 weeks before the next fill up. The adaptive cruise control is awesome. The only things I wish I would have gotten was the panoramic sunroof and the premium sound. Other than that I would totally buy this car again. The biggest problem with this car is Toyotas marketing on this car prior to buying it I had never heard of it and never seen one on the road I think if they started to market it like they do the Camry or the Corolla it would probably do a lot better. This car has been in production in Japan since the 50’s and it’s been a big seller. Now I’m hearing they are coming out with the crown signia why produce an SUV version of a car you don’t even market the sedan version of it. Since I purchased my crown I’ve only seen 2 other cars on the street which I kinda like cause I feel somewhat unique. I highly recommend people check this car out it’s pretty amazing to drive.
I just discovered it about 2 weeks ago and went to see it, I will be trading my Lincoln mkz in for it......Toyota is not advertising it, I saw it on TH-cam by accident.
What the main fault is with this car is that people are being forced to pay a ransom for numerous electronic gadgets and features that they do not need or will never use. The front grill design also looks odd without any openings - an oversized piece of plastic that cheapens the overall look of the car.
Price is the main reason; I am currently looking for a hybrid and was excited about the Crown. Hopefully the price comes down or they offer incentives.
I’d buy a Night shade edition in a heart beat. Love the look of it, great mpg, awd, all with the Toyota reliability. Only thing missing is a hatch and rear wiper.
I believe the main reason I've never seen one of these on the streets is the price. Very expensive! A car that starts at more than 40 thousand dollars and doesn't even come with a leather seat? Minimal things that the competition offers for less. This is the real reason. This shit is very expensive!
I ordered/bought the first Crown that was delivered to my Littleton CO dealer in March 2023. It's metallic grey, just like the one in the video, but the Limited model. It was pricey, and I took a risk buying a car never seen in person, but having owned several Toyotas I was confident it would be a good purchase. Am I happy with my purchase? Absolutely! I love this car! Stunning looks, amazing mileage for a car this size, and very comfortable. Does it seem odd that I've only ever seen two others on the road since I bought it? Yes. I agree with the other's comments; the price point seems a bit high, and I don't think Toyota did a good job advertising it. And although the interior is nice, comfortable, and well designed, I am a bit disappointed that it doesn't feel quite as "luxurious" as a $50K car should. I just had the 15K service done, and not a hint of trouble. As far as the rarity of Crowns on the road, I feel that's a plus! I like owning something unique. I believe a lot of people that are buying entry level BMWs, Lexus, etc. are missing out on a really great car. I wonder how they sell in Japan? Probably a lot better than here!
If this was a hatchback it would be a perfect car to me Way more useable, but still not as big & bulky as a crossover or suv, with great mileage. I think the only reason crossovers & suvs are so popular is because we Americans yearn for the days of the station wagon. And this as a hatch would be exactly that.
I think it comes down to the price vs. value. I have a 2025 camry and really can't find a reason to get something like this. It seems like it would just be 10k more for the same car. Hopefully, they'll put more into the crowns later on.
1-its trying to replace a large comfortable 6 cylinder sedan with a higher price 2-luxury price tag its not a luxury car 3-Design is shit 4-CVT hybrid!!!!! 5-under powered + over priced 6-we dont freaking know if its a sedan or a cross its just weird
Trying to decide to buy a new 2023 XLE for $35k, yes dealer still has 2023s on the lot or just keep my 2019 Avalon Hybrid which is still flawless. AWD and little higher seating is telling me yes, but seeing so many different opinions. Trade in value for Avalon exceeded my expectations..
I just purchased this car and I absolutely love it. I think Toyota dropped the ball on this vehicle, because they were really hard to find at the dealerships.
Purchased a new 2023 Crown limited in February at a nice discount and very pleased. I think at the price point for the limited($48k)most would opt for a Lexus. Maybe this is the reason I finally saw one after 2 mos on the road. My 1st hybrid and I am already enjoying the great gas mileage(avg 42 mpg). I think the sport model will sell a lot more and is expected for 2025. Great vid. Thanks!
The hood of this vehicle has system that blows it up a foot or so in a pedestrian collision. Usually a body crumples the hood till it hits the engine and causes blunt force injuries. Not the crown
I don’t like SUV’S so I bought a limited and I love it. I wouldn’t buy the XLE personally. I agree that it is not advertised enough. I get positive comments from people almost every time I drive my Crown.
There isn't really just one "problem" but I think the biggest is the price. You can get a better optioned car in the camry or the sonata hybrid for equal or lesser money than the xle crown. For me though, I want the Japanese build quality, the height, and the exclusivity of the crown, but I would go for the limited any day off the week. That's the trim level that IS selling, because they're actually more difficult to find
My issue is ground clearance. It would nearly theoretically clear the break over of my concrete drive. I demoed a limited and liked it. Why didn't Toyota give it 6"+ of ground clearance? If they f3l it is competition for SUV' s. Also making you take larger low profile tires, which ride rougher by nature. To get the features the package has for $3k is a deal breaker for some of us.
would like parking sensors front and back on the Xle base... large car would help parking up to cars and curbs.... I did buy a CX50 mazda.... wish I drove this as well as the even larger plastic fenders bug me on the Mazda... 5k more for the base Toyota.... will prob test drive one this year
I have a 2016 Audi A7. Been thinking of getting the Crown ad it is from a very reliable manufacturer and looks hood. Only wis it was a hatchback like my A7.
I bought a magnet gray 2024 XLE. Earlier, I was looking at a used white 2023. The huge grill really stuck out on that color. I kept checking with other dealers and was able to get a new 2024 at a comparable price. Other reviewers pan the overall look and mainly test the loaded model that gets bad gas mileage in comparison. I've seen it called a grandpa car, and it is that demo that talks to me at parking lots. I thought the Avalon was stogey and like the new look. At sticker, the fully loaded version is close to a Lexus, but the closest Lexus dealer is over 100 miles away.
Just got a sonic red xle crown 2024 lease great riding an comfortable car. Lease was great deal helped. Been a rav4 owner forever. Take awhile to get use to less storage space. Own a avalon an venza also. My comparison so far fancier avalon with a hybrid engine great gas mileage at good price for hybrid well below sticker.
I test drove one of these and a Camry. I thought they were both great vehicles. At this point, I am leaning toward the Crown but am waiting to drive a Crown Signia.
Remove the Hybrid system. Electronic suspension works okay within limits. Lower the price, and sell a hundred thousand of them. Maybe go crazy and put in a six speed manual, although not likely. It looks well built. It looks like it would survive a crash well, that’s very important. SUV’s are a stupid design. I’ve never liked them. These look mature, proper for one’s age, any age.
It's within a couple of inches of the new Camry. It's essentially a lifted Camry with a slightly nicer interior with a bit more sound deadening. IMO, it is not worth the extra money over a Camry.
This car is great. Just too expensive for most of ppl, like me. Since its not popular, i wonder what would happen if i need to fix it. Do they have parts to replace when it damaged. Dream car but never buy
I have had all six Avalons that have been made and I bought each one when the new model was introduced. I loved the car and some years ago I had a 2007 a Avalon and my wife had a 2013 Avalon. I was waiting for the crown to replace the .2007 Avalon but it seemed never to enter the Toyota stable of cars. So I bought a Cadillac which I love. Now that I have see. The Crown and went over it with the dealer I felt informed about the car. However I decided not to buy one for several reasons. Price at 50K is high for a Toyota, While the interior has a luxury feel it does not grab you and tell you this is Luxury. So I am in the process of negotiating a price of the 2025 Cadillac AT5. This car speaks Luxury! I will be able to get this car for about $51K I liked how the Crown looked but it did not spell Luxury like the Cadillac it spelled Toyota a great car that is dependable, will last forever and will hold its resale value. I looked at both the Crown and Camry, and when you look at the features list of a fully loaded Camry vs the base Crown, not only is the Crown more expensive but it's missing a lot of tech that's only in the top trim. I haven't driven a Crown so maybe it just rides that much better, but features-wise this thing is really overpriced I feel in comparison. I like features like the HUD and on the Crown it's only in the top trim even though the base model costs more than the optioned out XLE Camry that has it. Also subjective but I think the new teal on the 2025 Camry looks incredible as well as the redesign styling, I think it's just a better looking car (to me). I can honestly see why dealers are having to cut prices on these to even a bit under MSRP, I wouldn't buy one at sticker price either. At the price this thing is I could start looking at the Lexus ES 300h for example and I think a lot of people in that price range are going for Lexus instead. It feels like a car without a market for it IMO.
1) Too expensive 2) Too ugly. The price has to drop about 15-20K on these and that takes care of #1. Number 2, it has no identity. It wants to be 3-4 vehicles in one. So it does not fit anywhere and that makes it ugly. So honestly, Toyota needs to kill this Crown, update the Avalon and bring it back.
@@gleanerman2195 I've been called worse by far better than you. ;-) The Camry is probably the most dependable car built by Toyota. The Crown however is ugly on the outside. If they matched the outside with the inside, you and I would sing the same words. But with those ugly looks, it just ain't selling.
@@DannyFyffe I have never liked anything Toyota, this is my first car and it is beautiful in heavy metal two tone, everywhere we go people just love it.
I like the look of the Crown much more than the Camry OR prior Avalon. Toyota engineers did a great job with styling. I also like the 4" higher stance as well and AWD. This is a car I definitely will consider. Besides not promoting this car, the cost is also an issue. And, at a $41K new price point, most people expect Leather Seats. The high end version can run over $55K, and makes it higher than the average buyer wants to pay. The Toyota Venza 2024 is a great SUV, which Americans love, and costs less to buy. When it is replaced with the SUV version of the Crown next year, I hope they keep the cost down.
Traded a Lincoln MKZ for the Crown Limited. We wanted a full size sedan, and I like the reputation of Toyota. After 1,000 miles we are very pleased.
It's a great car that hardly anyone knows about!
I turned in my MKZ Lincoln also. I’ve had the Crown for about a month now. So far enjoying it.
I'm about to do the same thing
I bought Crown a year ago and am really happy.
I've had mine since February. I traded my Tundra for it and have enjoyed every mile of it. I'm thinking seriously about the 2025 already.
The reason the Crown doesn't sell is because Toyota doesn't promote it. I own a Limited and none of my friends or family ever heard of this vehicle.
Sad right?
@@AskforBryan Yes
I just bought a Limited. It’s a beautiful luxury crossover with a trunk. Great mileage and you don’t see them everywhere. Got a great discount.
why don,t you like it
The Crown Platinum is a true Gem from Toyota. So many great features. Made in Japan too so thats quality.
I seen it in person and caught the heck out my eye, been doing research every since…. Bit pricey
Test drove this thing, absolutely amazing feel and comfort. Only wish the back row was a little wider for 3 across.
If you don’t want an SUV, like every other car on the road, but you still want comfort, all wheel drive, and 40 miles per gallon. The crown is a great option with virtually no competition in the marketplace
People will love this car just like they loved the Avalon in a couple years.
Avalon was nicer.
@@djplonghead5403 No it wasn't I had an Avalon and have a Crown now.
@@juusboxWhere’s the crown badge on this car. It shouldn’t be called crown
Avalon is better. The crown has little front doors that we don't like.
@@djplonghead5403 No way, the Crown smokes it.
Totally agree. And the damn roof doesn't open. We just bought it and I hate it.
you can usually get an aftermarket kit to convert th hood to stay open I've had to install several of these on my vehicles oover the years they don't cost much an work great
Great car I just got a 2024 this Sunday 5/19/24 traded my 2022 Corolla hybrid. My dad got a 2023 crown two months ago. I like the rear trunk emblem on your demo how can I get one?
That's the Japanese crown logo. I am not sure where exactly this one came from, but I'd bet Amazon/eBay will have them.
I’m thinking the platinum might interest his driving experience but that price…
I personally love the crown and prefer the 1 color. I trust Toyota and their hybrid models.
OK Bryan, let me tell you a story…
My wife wanted to look at SUVs so we went to a nearby Toyota dealer to look at the Grand Highlander for her.
Me too telsa just brought back the 1.9% financing so now I’m like should I wait for this to go down or just get a telsa because it’s cheaper
Waiting on getting one from Enterprise Car sales in a year or 2
1:40 Where can I get that Crown logo? Toyota should have put those on the car instead of the regular Toyota logo. Oh, and made it a lift-back as well.
eBay
Apologies, Bryan, not Brian
I'm on the fence between the Crown and a Camry. I like the Crown better, but as you stated, resale value is a concern when it comes time to trade it in.
I think you hit the nail on the head in the video for reasons this car won’t sell
1. Lack of promotion
2. Price point
3. Lack of ability to stand out
The Avalon made you feel like you were driving a Lexus.
I own a 2023 Platinum in Oxygen White, and I love it! The Hybrid Max makes it very sporty and responsive.
Are you facing any weird high noises while the battery’s charging?

People are strait laced followers.Everyone buys an SUV---but not me. My Crown limited in supersonic red is a beauty to look at and drive. This is a car for people who live outside of the norm. Best ride I ever had in a car and if you know how to drive a hybrid you can get over 55 MPG in city driving.
How low can I get them to go on the Platinum either 2024 or 23? Wonder if they have a Military discount?
I just got a new Platinum with 2000 miles for only 43000.00 out the door, we love it.
I brought the xle trim level. Didn’t want the panoramic roof. It sits a little higher than the Camry making it much easier to enter and exit the vehicle. The main reason I bought the car is that it is manufactured in Japan. The Camry is not.
Good point! Toyota though does have very tight tolerances across the board though.
How did the Avalon have more power?
@@djplonghead5403 the 2014 Avalon hybrid had 200 horsepower, the 2023 Crown XLE has 184 horsepower. The Avalon had so much power, it was powerful in Eco mode. Don’t get me wrong both have a very comfortable ride but I enjoyed driving my Avalon more & it definitely had more power.
@@dtjohnson5529 crown has 236. The engine alone is the 184
Did you drive the platinum??
Thanks for the wonderful explanation. Where are you currently manufacturing: America or Japan?
The Crown is built in Japan only, for now.
In town driving- trade it.
Highway- keep the v6
Price
What did u pay? I want to get a great price too
@@Rjmil86 $37k
I was lucky, I found a Platinum with only 2000 miles for 43 grand, we love this car.
The Platinum trim price crosses well over a decently optioned Lexus ES350. Can’t really justify paying $56k for one.
Have a platinum max & love it. Great car but almost unheard of in the states.
Why get a base level Crown when for the same money, I could get a loaded Camry?
No gloss black on the interior and better ground clearance for snowy States.
I'd straight get decked out Camery
The only problem is the economy! The car is fantastic!
Same boat. Got an Avalon. Going to buy a ES350 next
I own a 2024 and I love it, best car ever🎉
Did a test drive on one of this. It's more like a Camry+ than a Crown, size-wise same thing just a bit more bells and whistles. Crown XLE is less premium than Venza XLE , less features, no leather, less room, cheap armrest in the back etc. but the price is the same. I think that's the reason not many are interested in it.
I love the looks and styling. Pushing my dad to consider the crown for his next purchase. I think it’d be perfect for him!
BECAUSE PPL DONT KNOW IT EXISTS 🤷♂️
The first year Crown had notorious issues with wind noise inside at certain speeds and other tech issues, sensors, etc
Cheers
Never seen one…never seen one on the road. Didn’t know this was a part of the Toyota line up.
The gray and bronze are both awesome.
I didn’t know it existed. I love it and plan to look for one.
What the main fault is with this car is that people are being forced to pay a ransom for numerous electronic gadgets and features that they do not need or will never use. The front grill design also looks odd without any openings - an oversized piece of plastic that cheapens the overall look of the car.
Lack of promotion! It's the best car ever. Best of both worlds with SUV-like clearance and Toyota reliability.
100%!!!
If they had made it like the Kia stinger where the whole back glass lifted not just the trunk I would buy one right now!!! It would have been so easy
If this was a hatchback it would be a perfect car to me
Way more useable, but still not as big & bulky as a crossover or suv, with great mileage.
I think the only reason crossovers & suvs are so popular is because we Americans yearn for the days of the station wagon. And this as a hatch would be exactly that.
I would say pricing is the issue. People will cross shop the crown with the camry and likely go with the cheaper, more traditional looking camry.
I 100% agree with you about the truck of the vehicle! I totally wish they had done that would be the perfect car in my opinion then!
I think it comes down to the price vs. value.
I have a 2025 camry and really can't find a reason to get something like this.
It seems like it would just be 10k more for the same car. Hopefully, they'll put more into the crowns later on.
1-its trying to replace a large comfortable 6 cylinder sedan with a higher price
2-luxury price tag its not a luxury car
3-Design is shit
4-CVT hybrid!!!!!
5-under powered + over priced
6-we dont freaking know if its a sedan or a cross its just weird
People don’t buy them because the Camry exists, and the RAV 4 exists.
I am looking for a dependable car that is like my Honda Crosstour, which I dearly love. This Crown looks promising.
I liked the Avalon but the Avalon Touring MSRP was $45000 and did not offer AWD, Pano, had a worse infotainment system and this looks a bit sportier.
Great vid. Thanks!
What do you think about the engine sound?
The hood of this vehicle has system that blows it up a foot or so in a pedestrian collision. Usually a body crumples the hood till it hits the engine and causes blunt force injuries. Not the crown
17:20 Toyota 4 cyl loud. Transition from electric to gas is smooth. Solid, enough power, not sporty drive.
I don’t like SUV’S so I bought a limited and I love it. I wouldn’t buy the XLE personally. I agree that it is not advertised enough. I get positive comments from people almost every time I drive my Crown.
Bc I never heard of it before I looked at the Camry and people were comparing the two
There isn't really just one "problem" but I think the biggest is the price.
I have a 2025 Crown and absolutely love it. Classy car.
I am interested in this car, just wish it was a limited. Thanks!
Yes
You are crazy, the Crown is the best Toyota car ever made.
That's why I got a slightly used Platinum with only 2000 miles for 43 grand, we love it.
The price actually does pick up where the Camry left off. The new Camry anyway. Both are overpriced
I bought a 2024 Limited and love it, comfortable, great ride, great gas mileage. I drove it from CA to WYO and back and it was super enjoyable.
