Good review. Just purchased the 2024 Crown XLE. Extremely nice car. I came from a 2021 Camry LE Hybrid which was getting 51 MPG. The Camry was a nice ride, but the Crown is just much better. More comfortable. Quieter. Much better technology. Much more unique. After 1600 miles in the Crown, it is getting 43 MPG. Not too bad, but not as good as the Camry. Hopefully it will be as reliable as the Camry was. Toyota did not do a good job marketing the Crown, because no one seems to have heard of it. Over all I’m very pleased and look forward to each drive now. The technology makes stop and go traffic less painful to deal with. The only negative I have is the price, but I paid way less than MSRP.
@jml9550 it's 30-32k with low miles for 1 year old century. By the end of the year is out they will be high 20s. At 3 years, range of likely 20k is highly possible. Vehicle lost 10k in 1 year. What's another 10k in next 2 years?
@@jdrules23 more than 50% of on a Toyota in 3 years? I don’t know which country you are in, we don’t get Centuries here in the US. Toyota, regardless of models, especially hybrids, don’t depreciate 50% in 3 years unless it has high mileage like 70-80k mikes range. Typical Toyota with anything less than 45k miles gets 65-70% of the new car price here.
Different strokes for different folks. It is the same song and dance when ever you go out to buy a new car. I treated myself for all the 20 yrs of work I put in and bought a 2024 XLE. There is such a push on the platinum model and hardly anything on the limited or XLE , So I ventured out and in search of an XLE like the one you just previewed and could not find one. The dealer did a search for one and found just what I wanted just out of Seattle. Make a long story short, they went up and brought it down to Tacoma and I went home with it that day. After having the car for a week and learning the buttons and what does what, I felt comfortable driving it. It was more than I expected. I was leery about taking it out for a drive, because so many people do not pay attention, but after some driving around town, it proved itself. I took it on its first trip (1200 miles) in April. It handled flawlessly. I averaged a solid 41 mpg and no problems on the mountain roads. I only had to put gas in the car 3 times and the most it took was 8-10 gallons. I enjoy the car and I plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. I purchased the 10 yr/100k protection plan and now I have peace of mind knowing I don't have to fix it myself. ( This plan is NO longer offered.). I wish people would go out and drive one. You get what you pay for...true but I'm comfortable on long trips, it drives great, It is NOT a hot rod car, I have ample trunk space for my trips get some pretty nice compliments about the car. The evaluation was somewhat impartial, but I can see that I'm not in total agreement on his answers. Aside from that, the video convinced me that I made a good choice.
Had one 6 months now and love driving it ..just checked that our average mileage after 8000 miles was 48.7 miles per gallon. I also own (11 years) a Solara which as been excellent and never let me down so expecting the same from the Crown
I drove this car for 4 hours and still had a half a tank. Also, with the adaptive cruise the car drove by itself half way. I mean there are specific things on this car that aren’t mentioned.
You said the Prius comes with the same 2.5 liter and gets 10 mpg better. First of all, I think it has a 2 liter. Makes about 40 HP less. The Corolla hybrid / Corolla Cross Hybrid might have the same engine as the Prius. The new Camry and Rav 4 have the 2.5 along with the Crown. The Prius does get much better highway MPG. The 2025 XLE has a small markup but is much better. Standard Leather, heated/vented seats, etc. People say they would rather get a limited Prius or something else… those have fake leather. Also it looks like a big vehicle but is about the size of a Camry and smaller than an Accord. The “sidewall” of the car is taller. Think of it like an EV where you have a thick floor because of the batteries. The same thing is true with this Crown- just without batteries. This causes the Crown to be about 6 inches lower than most SUV’s, 3 inches higher than most sedans and about the same height as crossovers like a Trax. I am not surprised that you think the car feels small. Mostly black interior- the white would make it feel more spacious.
Very helpful. At the very least, I will wait for the next design change. Do like its bigger / heavier / quieter / more comfortable than the Camry for long trips.
One reason why you should buy this car......it is made in Japan...the best manufactoring available. Usa build and developed Toyota's are tge worst cars possible, look at the Tundra disaster at the moment😢😢😢😢😢
1-2 year old Crown would be a consideration. However, Camry LE...FTW. Outward visibility is kind of big thing for me personally. Have to experience the Crown for myself before a final verdict. Another great review.
For 40k you can get a new Honda Accord in the top fully loaded trim with leather sets, sunroof, bose sound system, etc. Or you can get a fully loaded new Camry as well.
True, but this offers a slightly raised sitting position to get in out of. If you are young Camry all day every day, but as you get into your 50s this is a better choice.
I’d rather get the Limited Prius for cheaper and get more mpg’s. I’d also rather get a RAV4 Limited for the same price and get Ventilated seats for the same price.
it's largely outclassed by mazda's offerings as a reliable semi-luxury economical commuter vehicle. mazda offers the same creature comforts with a classier design and even a HUD for about 20k less.
I'll start with a slight criticism of you in this video. Your sucking for air in the mic consistently is annoying. Now on to the car. It is an ugly color so I disagree with you. The Crown is an ugly car in general that has no sense of good style or looks. The identity of this car is not the Avalon, the Camry, or anything else. It just seems lost. If it were 25-30K, it would sell. Not to me, but some would buy it at that. This is one of the biggest misses Toyota has created. They lost on this car. Cloth seats at 41K is an insult. If it isn't Softex at a minimum, that alone proves Toyota is lost in the high weeds of their greed. Hearing that motorcycle so loud shows they used cheap glass. It just fails totally.
I could see the Crown being discontinued…why have that and also the Camry? Toyota is famous for having duplicates of the same segment only to cancel one of the models
How can a gray look phenomenal? It's subdued and cool temperature paint. Not a happy color, very understated. I'm just not a fan of all the shiny black trim around the wheel wells and lower body. Give me some actual polished/brushed/two-tone metal trim.
That's only a Crown by name, underneath is an enlarged Camry by DNA. A true Crown is an old school sedan with rear wheel drive and preferably with an inline six engine but also has an inline four.
The rear look very weird. Very odd looking…., don’t know what to say. Not a car, not an suv. I know it’s not going to sell well the days Toyota announced they gonna bring it to US. Besides it’s overpriced, rather buy Lexus for that kind of money.
car is a flop. not enough marketing and it has an identity crisis. is it a car or a suv? toyota makes to many great models like the rav4, camry, highlander, carolla/carolla cross tour. this model is unneeded. much like the discontinued venza, the rav4 is just more popular.
The people who are going to buy it don’t care if it is a car or an SUV. The days of being able to buy an American sedan that is nice and eye catching but understated in terms of branding is over. Cadillac has the v5. The Chrysler 300 is discontinued. The rest of GM doesn’t make sedans anymore. Many people want a luxury vehicle but don’t want a “in your face” brand like Lexus, BMW, etc. The Crown is close to being that. Close enough to where old people that have those needs will buy it. The only problem is that it is not marketed enough. Old people are not searching the world and under every rock for a vehicle. Everyone I know that has seen one they asked what it was. I told them it was a Toyota and they were impressed by its looks. It looks cooler in person. Who cares about an identity. Don’t be scared to be judged.
