  • @megarafjogos

They are all mediocre in mud.
There is not a single pro level competition truck/jeep that uses any of those tires.
Small, tight lugs, in the classic bfg km shape.
Compare the Repulsor with the mickey thompson baja claw or maxxis trepador. Compared to those 2, it is an all terrain.
Here are 5 tires that perform way better, both in thread design and rubber composition.
-Simex extreme trekker (Great tire with huge lugs, similar to the trepador in performance)
-Maxxis Trepador (Best off road tire on sale, good in every condition apart from snow)
-Maxxis Mudzilla (Great for high powered vehicles on mud, the tire becomes taller the faster you spin the wheels, like on rc cars)
-Interco Super swamper (Legendary tire status, used in all kinds of competitions, same for the boggers)
    -Interco Bogger
Lets be honest, if you want to have wheels that are bigger than 17", you don't need to run mud tires, and you probably won't need to run all terrains either.
Road tires will give you way better traction, fuel mileage and handling.
If you want, I can explain why.
The first one is, the bigger the wheel, the more expensive your tire and wheels are going to be.
Second, there are not that many good mud terrain threads for big wheels (proved by this video).
Third, and most important, when go off-road, you air down.
Your footprint becomes bigger, giving a lot more traction.
Lets say, you have 35" tires on 15" wheels. When you air down, the fooprint becomes huge, while still having enough sidewall to protect your wheels and give you enough ground clearance. A big sidewall and lower pressure also increases confort levels.
Now, lets take the red truck from the beginning of the video, 35x12.50r20. When you air down, your footprint doesn't increase that much, but your sidewall decreases a lot, soo you increase the probability of bending your wheels or cutting your valve stem.
If your truck is a pavement queen daily driver, try smaller wheels.
You will spend a lot less on tires and wheels, have better performance (tires are lighter than wheel), and your truck will look way more agressive.
You might even try to go off-road and decide to do more, or save some cash by not scratching 24" wheels on a curb.

2010 F150 FX4 with 6inch BDS lift and I have put 77,000 miles on Nitto Trail Grappler M/T and still has at least maybe 8-10k miles more before going bald. I originally had Toyo Open Country M/T and put roughly 53,000 miles on that set and still had some tread, just not as much compared to the Nitto's. In all fairness though the mileage has been highway miles since I use it for work. I've been really surprised with the Nitto's.

Owned then best Mud tires from BFG, Toyo, Nitto, General and Mickey...The Toyo Open Country m/T is hands down the best quality tire you can buy. Tires don't last in Arizona(the Diesel truck capital of the US)... My current set of 37" M/T's have 35,000 on a fully deleted L5P, and while routinely leaving Powersmoke's and Cummins' in the rear view mirror, these tires have at least another 10,000 miles on them.

What is your personal preference Toyo MT or Nitto Trail Grappler MT? I'm really having a hard time deciding. I am thinking the Nitto trail grappler MT because it is a little more narrow than the toyo MT, but at the same time I've heard that the toyos hold up better when towing and their tread compound is more dense and have a longer tread life than the Nittos. Thanks

Off Road magazine had them go head to head a couple years ago. Nitto had a slight edge off road, Toyo was slightly better on road an on snow/ice roads an rain. Hope it helps

I have put 180,000 over miles on my 09 Power Wagon. Iv'e burned through 3 sets of 35" Toyo MT's. I do a lot of mountain off road exploring and hunting in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho when the weather is absolutely crap. I have also burned off a set set of K02s (longest wearing for me) and Toyo ATs (worst wearing tire of the bunch). I only got about 35,000 miles out of the Toyo MTs. But they were awesome off road (especially so when chained up...). But for $1800 a set I can't see running the Toyo's any more. Just converted to a Jeep Gladiator. Now I will get to see how the Falken MTs do.

Why do you never review aggressive tires. the 3 different tires that I run never even get mentioned. I like my Swampers, Pit-bulls, and Patagonias. I run them on pavement, dirt, mud, and rocks. the Milestars are even quiet. but they are all top quality mud tires.

    • @stevenjohnson965
      @stevenjohnson965 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. They are not too quality tires. Except for swampers they are shit.
