This game sparked great interest in me because years ago in an art class, I had the idea of something extremely similar, with villages on the backs of giant creatures. Even drew them and thought up how it'd work, and the world was a complete wasteland with the only life and biomes left being on these creatures who survived on water and sun alone. The fact that there's a game with nearly the exact same concept years later makes me really, really want to pick this up despite me not normally being a fan of city builder games.
It's a classic idea, it has such good imagery that it pops up pretty often from avatar, too video games and doctor who 😊 I wanna say there's a religion or spiritual belief that includes is being on turtle back.
@@seeing8spots Yeah, I likely picked up a bit of a concept from the original ATLA lion turtles, though the ones I designed were more like the one in this game, though a more draconic and stone-like body.
My daughter (age 6) loves both RCE and Paddy but she also loves Ombu. She even made a costume to pretend to be Ombu with a felt cape. She attached some pretend trees and huts to her back as she wanders around the house looking for food and water.
My head canon for this game is that you're not a human sized village on the back of a giant, six legged, dinosaur dog things, but rather that thing is dog sized and your a flea village.
Surely the better solution to Onbu trying to eat the stone mushrooms would have been to empty his hunger meter before you reach that spot. There's no danger of him snacking on stone mushrooms if his stomach is full.
Imagine being a Nomad, coming across this mountain with a village on top. And not only does it turn out that mountain is actually a gigantic creature, it has actually been waiting here specifically for you.
You know I'm fairly certain this was inspired by Nausicaa wasn't it. I only realized at the end but the designs of the characters and the toxic forests and whatnot really should have clued me in sooner.
I love the game mechanic of choosing your level of familiarity at the start of the save file. It's so tedious to start a new save file in a game you love to have the game go through the entire "Press W to walk forward!" script
@@saltiney8578 about ten years ago i got into the Ghibli movies and it was the third one i watched. The art style looks like it pulled inspiration. Btw theres the source manga which is the full story. The anime stops like a quarter of the way through.
Watching this and my alarm goes and I'm thinking it's can't be that time yet, I'm watching RCE, it's only a 30 minute video! Then check that I've been watching for 1.5 hours and there's still 30 minutes to go >.>
I was so happy to see you upload this especially such a long playthrough! I watch these at night before bed to help me go to sleep so longer ones are the best for me :) i watched you play the demo of this and really hoped youd play this again soon thanks for the delight and i hope to see you play more of thus too

My Grandmother was a civil engineering student before the Allies stopped women from finishing University, They had sexist policies the Axis didn't apparently. I swear I absorbed more of the engineering thought process then RCE in childhood, that grandmother taught me mathematics and the thought process as a child, also now an engineer myself!
@@CyanAnn I honestly forget which city, Essen keeps coming to my mind but I know part of my family was R-worded by Russians to death off to the east of Berlin, a member of the family ran food to save them and found the house sacked and everyone deleted. My Grandmother was of a clan which has a bunch of towns named after them middle/ southern, there are so few members of the family I know the towns are named after them... I blame my dyslexia for not remembering the correct name of the city where she was born/studied. It doesn't help that her husband, my grandfather is from a family from south western Germany. I constantly remember my mother studied in Dusseldorf but my grandmother she was about mid to end of her studies when WW2 ended. She left Germany after the war to not marry a man much younger or older, Probably thought most Canadians and Americas are about 90% German so she went that way and yes married a much younger German man, the irony.
How long ago did you record it? The new HUD is available from at least 6 months and many mechanics were changed. You could check it now, and try to beat it again
I feel like you should have made 2 compost pits, one to focus on compost and one on gas for your flamethrowers. You ran into trouble because you hadn’t stockpiled enough Onbu farts. Either that or you should have made fart gas before you made compost.

That’s the problem with RTS, trying to pay attention to everything whilst ADOLAS is rearing its head is hard.

Came for Timberborne, but I do like this game. They've done some updates since this was filmed, I think? This looks different to my last playthrough.

They’re on paddy
Would kinda make sense given the size of the parasites XD
Once again it took me like 35 min to realize this was a mega edit.
Thx bro

Onbu is basically just a dino-Paddy. You wouldn't mine Paddy, would you? Only an architect would ever even accidentally mine paddy!

I do that and just make him run/walk past them.
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it but that was one of the smoothest transitions from game to real life camera and I appreciate it
Immediately added to my wishlist, this game looks so good, looking forward to it coming out of early access

When will RCE learn to tell onbu to stop running?
Oh, he doesn’t.
Onbu is love. Onbu is life.
Would love to see another playthrough of this. It's changed quite a bit since this series and is still amazing. I love this game.
I really appreciate RCE’s effort being put into each thumbnail. Always so unique and to each game!
Wasn't expecting the sudden Judy Weigel cameo. Love it
multiple days worth of content of a great game played by RCE, what more could I ask for. One of my favorite videos. More long format content please!
Day 1 of asking Matt to play what he wants to play. Because we will enjoy it anyway :)
