Hold on a minute, who are the Palestinians really? Greeks know better than you, and their responses are way smarter than yours.
It's been happening to Greeks for the last 1400 years: Muslims have overrun their empire and genocided them quite a few times. Now they won't lift a finger if somebody genocides Muslims. All of that area was once a region of the Byzantine empire, and ironically the Jews rebelled and brought the Iranians first and the Muslims afterwards. Well, they probably realized that Byzantine Greek rule was actually better a bit too late...
That's the right mindset

As a greek native, I have to say there is a DRAMATIC change in people's view on Israel/Palestine since the last decade. To make it short: in 2009 Gaza war maybe over than 90% of population as well as media were pro-palestinian. The prostests which often became violent were so ubiquitous as if Israel was bombimg Greece, not Gaza. In 2014 war there was not much change. Now, for reasons that varie, one could say a very big part of greeks, have turned into pro-Israelis, though still a lot still support Palestine no matter what. (majority of them are left-wingersand then followr the extreme far-right and also religious conservatives). The same goes for the media. You don't see any more these antisemitic caricatures that were the nor in the 90's except for some garbage newspappers full of conspiracy theories and fake news. I can not say if pro-Israelis now make a majority over the ''anti-Zionists'' but sure they first goup will not go out to protest, stick posters on walls and make so much noise in the social media.
It may has to do something with islamization of Turkey in last 20 years. Turkey is not hiding that it want to change maritime border and get at least half of the Greek islands.

However, they have been overrun by many foreign armies and deeply care about their own sovereignty and choice to be themselves. The EU has been very hard on them in many ways. @@rosesandthorns47 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Democracy we have a better and more stable economy here in Singapore without Democracy it's the biggest joke in history,, It doesn't work the state needs strong leadership not democracy
@@LeanderandSheilaAmazingJourney We have a Constitutional Republic written to preserve and support the Rights of the people. But the government has become so corrupt that it is under the thumb and control of the military-industrial complex, corporations, CIA, and FBI. "Democracy" has nothing to do with the economy-but corruption does. We were supposed to have courts that followed the Constitution and supported the Rights of the People first and above all, but corruption has caused this to fail. Straight democracy always leads to mob -rule. However, a strong central government that controls and takes the rights of the people leads to fascism. We have a good Constitution, but it has been betrayed by a corrupt government.

When I saw the guy with a cross for an earring I knew immediately he would say 'Palestine'. That's such a giveaway.
I would be one wearing a cross and I support Israel.. most conservative biblically educated Christians support Israel as the scriptures say to do. An uneducated Christian would say they support Palestine because they are influenced by the mainstream media instead of listening to biblically informed news.
That is a strange reason to make a judgement. While a cross is generally a symbol for some Christians (not all) it is also a symbol used "in fashion". Btw.People who call themselves Christian are not all authentic followers. While the majority of Christians support Israel, others are mistakenly supporting the terrorism of Hamas thinking they are supporting the people of Gaza from a humanitarian viewpoint. Loss of life on both sides of any conflict is tragic, and there are people dying in wars happening around the world right now, not just Israel/Gaza. However the world needs reminding the terrorist Hamas (who the "Palestinian" people of Gaza - voted as their government in 2006), started this war with their barbaric slaughter of innocents, rape and kidnappings, in Israel on 7 October 2023. Nearly 8 months later and more than 100 of those kidnapped are still held by Hamas. Only they know how many are still alive, if any. Hamas is 100% responsible for all the suffering in Gaza.
@@Keithphysics I agree with you, so I think you understood me the other way around. Let me make myself clear. It's generally only lefties that wear crosses as earrings, not out of reverence for the cross but out of disdain towards it. Lefties generally mock or despise christianity and have no problem wearing its symbols disrespectfully. I know Greece very well, and this kid is almost certainly left leaning (progressives, anarchists, commies, ..., the whole lot). Furthermore lefties unconditionally support Islam and Palestine, not being able to view them outside the context of oppressed victims. They looooooove victimhood and have made it their currency. You are wrong.I know my people. They simply mind their own business but the vast majority think Palestine should exist as a country next to Israel. Not a single Greek person is against the existence of Israel. Also we don't like Islam for the terrible crimes they have committed throughout history. So the Arabs attacked first and killed and raped civilians something that is horrible and cowardly but then Israel after a just defence and counterattack they are now taking it too far and children are dying. Both sides have done wrong things.
No it isn’t. You just ignore silent majority and the boomers are the majority.

Not exactly a true statement . It was more typical talk of a non local greek ,english accent 2-3 gen immigrant living in another country. Old views from the time when his relatives immigrated. Greeks and Turks are more friendly now, as they do share a lot of culture and the official policy of the countries is towards more friendly ties. What I see is that Greeks people don't take religion of people into consideration when they give an answer which means that this is a rationality on their part, unlike the Americans. 🇪🇬🤝🇬🇷
What is beautiful about the Greeks is that they have a more precise sense of democracy
They don't follow the majority opinion without checking things in depth
And another beautiful thing, is that they are not warmongers. They prefer peace. good people. No wonder the Israelis love them so much
I was positively surprised about how thoughtful and nuanced they answered. There is too little of that these days
The truth is that very few people outside Israel possess the necessary amount of information to comprehend the Muslim-Israeli conflict. Uninformed Greeks, with a deeply humanistic cultural background will tend to take the side of the weaker part, as they find this a more moral choice. This applies to most "western" people who fail to understand other cultures who don't share the same humanistic values. Golda Meir, the fourth prime minister of Israel addressing the Palestinians once said "I don't hate you for killing my children, I hate you for forcing me to kill yours". Whoever does not understand, just google "martyrdom in Islam" and then you will. As a Greek national, I stand with Israel and with our centuries old friends, the Jewish people and their right to live peacefully in their own ancestral land.
Pathetic, the conscience of a murderer is above the lives of one's own children, and this is what a woman says. However, how is the theft of property justified? She was born in Kiev and lived in the USA for a long time

When they think of Israel, they will think of burned buildings and dead babies, it strips Israel of its protection by charges of antisemitism against anyone who is critical of Israel because to be critical of people who are carrying out genocide cannot be antisemitism, it cannot be considered immoral. Antisemitism is a despicable attitude."

This video just goes to show that the majority of Greeks are living inside their bubble, staying either uninformed or misinformed.
This becomes especially clear when you get simple answers such as "I don't like politics".
War is not like a political debate, where you assess which side makes the better arguments.
Apart from political, war is social, ethical, economic and psychological as well.
And this is not something that is happening far away, on the other side of the world.
Gaza is closer to Athens than Venice is!

I dont side with Putin. So I dont side with Russia the same way I dont side with Palestinian government and the people who vote them.
@@mariaagosti-pm7tk of course that makes sense. But we must not make the mistake and generalise. Firstly, most people living in Gaza are kids who did not vote for Hamas (although have been indoctrinated). Second of all, there are the people who oppose the terrorists (few but there are). The problem is that we need to understand both causes. The Zionist Israeli cause is extremely important. The same goes for giving the ‘Palestinians’ a fair land where they’re treated with dignity and peace. Of course that’s not going to happen with Hamas in power and it will take generations to change the perceptions that have been built up through Hamas. But with time hopefully comes peace and coexistence. This isn’t about picking sides - it’s about bringing them together. Not through governments or politics but through humanity.

BUT....
The Greek mind is firmly with Israel (Greeks are also an ancient people, and know what it means to be surrounded by enemies and outnumbered and what it means to fight against the odds...like Israel).
No they just do not like or hate muslims because of Turks and are not fond of arabs or israelis.
When a guy says he’s divorced 4 times but only because all the ex wives were bad, do you start thinking maybe the guy is shit or do you blame the 4 ex-wives? Israel has many enemies because it’s enacting a genocide and a apartheid state. The only sad thing is the surrounding arab states (not its citizens) don’t have the balls to forcefully abolish israel and instead make deals with them behind the scenes
No. The Greeks don’t like muslin Turkey because of wars. However, they are passed that now. Presently, thanks to brave journalists in Gaza they see a genocide by Israel of women and children. They don’t like that just as the rest of the world doesn’t like it.

“The people of South Africa will never forget the support of the state of Israel to the apartheid regime.” ~ Nelson Mandela on being released in 1990
Israel had opposed Apartheid South Africa in the UN from the 1960s.
Israel was often publicly critical of apartheid. In the late 1980s, it sharply curtailed its support for the South African regime, cutting many military, economic, and cultural ties. It also ruled that only non-white South Africans would be allowed to study on certain courses in Israel, voted to condemn apartheid at the UN, and took part in sanctions.
Mandela came to Israel and accepted an honorary doctorate from Israel’s Ben Gurion University.
Mandela, 1999: “I understand completely well why Israel occupies these lands. There was a war. But if there is going to be peace, there must be complete withdrawal from all of these areas. I cannot conceive of Israel withdrawing if Arab states do not recognize Israel within secure borders.”
