Since early October, Israel has been at war with Gaza, which has captured the world's attention and brought attention to the Palestinians' struggle. But Gaza is only one part of the story. The West Bank, a place full of famous Biblical cities like Bethlehem, Hebron and Jericho, is the other half of Palestine. And ever since the conflict reignited into this latest war, things have become more difficult than ever for the people there.
I was told I shouldn't go there. It could be dangerous at the checkpoints, which are now everywhere in the West Bank. But I had to see for myself what was going on. And to do that, I went to the holiest and also most controversial city in the world -- Jerusalem, to begin a journey across Palestine.

I was in London during the 2021 lockdown and standing at the Tower of London with absolutely no one around was surreal. It really felt like the opening scenes of 28 Days Later in the City of London area. Towering skyscrapers with no one around and ghost buses stopping to let no one off.

I randomly stumbled into where Jesus had the last supper and was walking around the roof of the Church of The Holy Sepulcher without knowing what it was lol. These places in Israel can be shockingly peaceful and also full of life. Just depends when you're there. What's also cool is the density of sites like these, literally everywhere has had people living there for thousands of years.

I also would've expressed a deep appreciation for the food and room offered by hotel owner. I just think that's an intimate thing, to invite a stranger for dinner. Then again, what do I know about the culture? It might've been inappropriate to express my gratitude to the host for all I know, lol. But it would've been my reaction, good or bad. 🤭

The gentleman at 11:15 touched a nerve and was a little goose-bump moment as he asked that you pray for peace and the way he said, 'everybody we are so much in need of peace', for all sides and the innocents. It was a global plea. I volunteer in Ukraine and have done for two years and the things you see are horrific and now Gazza, we have so much senseless killing going on and the world on the precipice of another global conflict with so many knife edge hot spots. That was a nice moment in the video, so I will join with him and pray for an end to all this conflict and the loss of innocent lives.

      @TRYCLOPS1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Of course it takes a lot of time to really understand the historical contexts. One side and the other will omit history from one point to the other. For example, one thing I notice here is that Palestinians always talk of Jews coming from Europe after WWII. They never mention Jews living there before that but it is a fact that Jews were a majority living in Jerusalem during Ottoman rule and that was documented through an Ottoman census done on the region. Jews and Arabs have lived there for hundreds of years and some Jews never left and have been there since Roman times, Arab conquests, The Crusades, etc. History is more complex than to say it all started in 1948. Perhaps many Palestinians today are descendants of Jews forced into Islam as well. There are god people on both sides. And there are evil people. One more on one side than the other is my opinion. You work hard to figure that out on your own. Good luck.

Even in wartimes you can still see humans as we all are, just people hoping to live in peace. He opened his doors and fed you after seeing you had no allegiance to any enemies. Hello ! May Allah protect and guide you to his light and happiness in this life and the hereafter, God bless, Ameen. Excuse me for giving a little presentation of Islam, because it is very misunderstood nowadays, especially on those « Antichrist's » times, where media and politics are mixed to distort history and truth. Thank you very much for your time.
Islam is an arabic word that means the Surrender to the One and Only God, our Creator, Protector, Provider, who gives us life and all that we have, we are safe and sound by his will and grace, we are His and to Him we return, and we have to thank him in this trial life by submitting to him by our free will, or later in the Day of judgment when it's too late to save our own skin. Islam was the original Religion descended to earth from heaven with Adam and Eve (peace and blessing be upon them) in the beginning of humanity. and was passed to people with the succession of the 124 000 prophets and 315 messengers of God to all nations and civilizations since, passing by Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ismaël, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Solomon and Jesus (Peace and blessing be upon them) during the history of mankind, the last replaces and completes the previous, until the succession of the last messenger of God fourteen centuries ago, Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) to complete the noble morals of all mankind, to bring humans and jinns out of darkness into light, and to purify people's religion and belief from corruption and polytheism, and return it to purity and true monotheism, like it was in the times of the prophets (Peace and blessing be upon them).
Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy.
Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah said in Surah An-Nisa : O FOLLOWERS of the Gospel! Do not overstep the bounds [of truth] in your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. The Christ Jesus, son of Mary, was but God's Apostle - [the fulfilment of] His promise which He had conveyed unto Mary - and a soul created by Him. Believe, then, in God and His apostles, and do not say, "[God is] a trinity". Desist [from this assertion] for your own good. God is but One God; utterly remote is He, in His glory, from having a son: unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth; and none is as worthy of trust as God. Never did the Christ feel too proud to be God's servant, nor do the angels who are near unto Him. And those who feel too proud to serve Him and glory in their arrogance [should know that on Judgment Day] He will gather them all unto Himself: (171-172 / Translated by Muhammad Asad).
Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Ali-Imran : Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of God is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning!
Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures.
Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement.
It is they whose works shall come to nought both in this world and in the life to come; and they shall have none to succour them.
(19-22 / Translated by Muhammad Asad)..
God said : Say, “We believe in Allah, and in what was revealed to us, and in what was revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and in what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We do not differentiate between any of them. And to Him, we surrender.”
      (2:136 / Translated by Community)
      Salam (Peace) -------------

The Western Wall is not a remaining of the Jewish Temple - it’s a wall which surrounded the actual Temple, where the mosque is right now.
So, the Western Wall is the closest a Jew can get to his most holy place. In comparison, Muslims have their Mekka and no one is holding them back from visiting it.

Great channel. I love the way you travel, with a sense of curiosity and an open mind. I have done it in the past and found that people were incredibly generous everywhere. I had a few mis-adventures with my planning and people always took me in and treated me as part of the family. In some place, I know it was because I was an American. In other places, it was in spite of being American. I always knew a bit of the local language to show respect, and I always tried to learn as much as possible. In a few cases I have witnessed the person who treated me so well turn around and be abusive toward a family member or someone else (directly or indirectly). It really makes you think about the masks people wear and appreciate those rare individuals who treat everyone as they want to be treated. Imagine a world where we treated everyone we encounter with the generosity with which we treat people we view as guests.

      - Sabbatical made it seem like Hamas atrocities of Oct 7th was justified by voicing Hamas' bogus reason for the attack at 8:52
      - Palestinians gave their deluded version of history and events without an Israeli response.
      - He highlights how hard it is to get between Palestinian cities without explaining that it is a time of war and attacks on Israelis are happening, and that checkpoints on those roads were put into place to stop Palestinian suicide bombers which murdered 803 Israeli civilians over 15 years.
      - When referencing Jew's holiest site he said it was "so they say" the original spot of the Jew's temple which was destroyed.

Tommy, this has to be one of the most fascinating films I’ve seen about Palestine/Israel in a long time. I can’t thank you enough.
It was so interested to get a look into the everyday lives of people whilst this awful war rages on.
I found it equally interesting because I too was there in 2005/06. What a strange feeling it was to see you walking along some of the same alley ways, and driving along some of the very same, roads that my dear late husband and I did all those years ago. That sense of tension that we experienced came back into my chest as you were experiencing the same.
Whilst we were there things were very tense. The check point process was definitely something I recall with some intrepidation. Being ‘encouraged’ by Israeli soldiers not to go, or to go to certain places in some towns, like Jerusalem is also something that stays with me.
I also remember the shock I felt at the explicit racism of some Israeli people, Particularly those in positions of authority, towards Palestinians. We found that so hard. Oddly we did not see that hate being displayed in reverse. To see how that situation appears to have deteriorated, due to recent events, is very sad, but to be expected.
But overriding most of this, was the generosity and kindness shown to us when we were in Palestine. We too were met with curiosity, yet utter kindness. Nothing was too much trouble for those we needed help or advice from.
Palestine was so starkly different in affluence and living conditions from Israel. But this never deterred anyone over the border in Palestine to remain friendly and kind. This was a very pleasant surprise as my husband was infact Jewush.
The visual recordings of the tragedy that is continuing is vital for us to see, however hard it is to look at. But it’s also important that we are reminded that people in both Israel and Palestine are doing what they can to continue with their lives. They have no choice but to do this. But nevertheless it must be so very difficult.
So again Tommy I thank you for showing us the complexity of living in this environment, whilst the most awful events are taking place within such a short distance away. It was really fascinating, but so very sad.
Can I also offer my compliments to you for your courage. My guess is that there are few that would have travelled to the region at the moment, with so little formal ‘backup’, given the continuous bombing etc. You are really very brave to have done so, but I do hope
That you will be very careful if you are still there, or if you are planning such trips in the future.
My very best wishes to you,
    Teresa.

Exactly. The main stream media hasn’t covered this genocide for 75 years. The horrific atrocities that are only coming out to many of us because of social media. Many journalists privately say that they want to cover the stories that are happening to the Palestinians in Israel, the their bosses say no. I guess the bosses are tied to Zionist Israel somehow. Check out: “Britain Rises for Gaza: Lowkey exposes Israelis waning grip on politics” . He explains how Israel is tied to main stream media. Justice for Palestinians. 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

I was in Jerusalem over Easter. I went to the Western Wall twice as I was trying to visit Dome of the Rock/Temple Mount.
Israel had blocked off access to it.
The second time I tried, there were a massive number of police and IDF at the Western Wall and on the walkway to access Al Asqa Mosque. There were more police and IDF than civilians.
    It was unbelievable.
A week later, Israel sent in drones with tear gas, plus injured and kidnapped some Muslims who were at the mosque

The other synonym "shisha" is from the Persian "shishe" (glass/flask) via Ottoman Turkish

I was a border checkpoint soldier back in 2016, and i hated working in Jerusalem because of the way the people coming in and out of the west bank were treated (the Jerusalem soldiers were just not nice people in general) - very tense all around, all the time, but for the most part the people just wanted to come in and work.
I worked a lot on the west bank border checkpoints and those were significantly better than the Jerusalem ones, as our battalion commander was much nicer and understood that we should not interfere with the Palestinian lives - so make sure their crossing into israel was as smooth and quiet as possible. and even other units in the surrounding area that I worked with were just nicer altogether, they didn't want any beef with the palestinians. one thing to note between the areas is that soldiers outside of Jerusalem meet the same workers/etc again and again, so we were able to get to know them way more on a personal level and it made dealing with everyone much easier and an overall nicer experience. the palestinians want quiet on the border, so they also made sure to keep themselves in check by pointing out trouble makers and informing us of anything that may be talked about in their communities.

no one likes a snitch, also no one likes murder and instability my man. (And I am not talking about the Palestinians) "So we should make their crossings into Israel as smooth as possible" ===> Yet the crossings WITHIN the Westbank are designed to make their life a living hell... Every country in the world recognizes Westbank to be Palestinian territory... You people really have something special waiting for you on Judgement Day, God doesn't stand on the side of the occupiers...

    I love watching your videos!
My family visited Israel in 1999 and Israel, Egypt, and Jordan in November 2000. I remember that there were boulders everywhere and there was a conflict at that time. The roads into Bethlehem were closed and we had to take back roads. All these places that you visited, I remember visiting even though I was only 6 and 7 when we visited. But it had such an immense impact on me and my life. I remember the people in this region being SO kind. They gave me things everywhere I went. I also remember thinking how odd it was that it was such a militarized place. Our bus driver was Muslim and he gave me a stuffed ram. There was also security everywhere! Our hotels even had X-ray machines like the ones in the airport. Our tour guide was Jewish. Even though there is conflict with people, they got along. I think it’s so different being there than just reading about it or seeing it on the news.
A (French? I think?) camera crew actually followed our tour group around for a bit, but I’ve never found the footage. It would be neat to see.

You did a great job with your videos from what you saw and heard. To clarify,: over 100,000 Muslim and Christian Palestinians (there are no longerJewish Palestinians - see why below) come into Israel daily to work, but must have work permits. When Israel governed the West Bank, Israelis could freely visit West Bank towns and historic Jewish sites, like Abraham's and Sara's tombs.. However, after Israel gave autonomy to Arafat to independently govern the West Bank and Gaza, the Palestinian Authority blocked or made it very unconfirtable and unsafe for Israelis and Jews to visit the towns and Jewish historic sites. The Palestinian Authority also proceeded to rewrite the West Bank history by usurping the Jewish sites and obliterating remains of Jewish communities that were there into the 20th century ( not just 20th century settlers) calling them Palestinian and even brainwashing the West Bank residents, Western bleeding hearts and students that Jews never lived in the West Bank - which is definitely not true!

If more people can resist external factors (gov, media, politics), the kindness is the same everywhere you go if your intend is as kind as well.
