A simple back-to-back diode noise limiter would be helpful.

That noise when you powered on....I thought "Geiger counter!" Nice to see signals still cut through. A fun field exercise for those of that are on the LONG list would be to compare the receive of the KH1 vs the KX1 or KX2 with the AX1 at the same location (only because I DO have a KX1). FB hunting session! As someone who operates outdoors only and QRP, I typically choose to activate. I would really like to improve my POTA hunter stats.
Thomas, I am curious about the sound coming from the KH1. The CW output, on both send and receive, sometimes sounds more like a raspy clarinet than an oscillated tone. You can hear it clearly starting around 5:50 in the video. To what do you attribute that audio anomaly ?
The KH1 sidetone is not generated in the same way as other Elecraft radios. Somewhere, I believe I remember hearing Wayne describe how they generate the tone. It does sound like a square wave.
If only there were a Side Band radio that small. Question, where do you get the antenna's you were using today? Thanks

So the telescoping whip antenna is the one designed for the KH1. It's included in their "Edgewood" package.
How does the battery last? Do you charge after each use? 72 de N3CI
The battery lasts for hours and hours. My guess would be 6-8 hours of full-on operating. I charge it once every 5 activations, I believe?

Hello! I’m curious how this antenna would do if instead of using the counterpoise you used a small copper rod into the ground. If it worked this rig could be used in urban parks during summer, crowded places overall. Like, you see that fence in the background? 1 meter wire and alligator clip connected to that fence.
Possibilities… I’d totally use a jacket made of that faraday fabric to use as grounding if that worked 😂😂 73
Ha! I had the same thought, André… vest made of faraday cloth and just clip a wire to it running to the grounding lug of the radio. No trailing counterpoise to trip over or have other people step on! You should give it a try 😅
