Thomas, this may not be the most appropriate video to leave this comment, but while I'm here..
I wanted to thank you for doing what you do. Your video have encouraged me to learn cw and get out portable. I had a stroke and following this found ssb to be very troublesome due to speach issues. I find digital modes to be a little boring for me and watching your videos inspired me to learn cw and get out there.
I joined LICW did their first couple of carousels and then went to CWops academy. Two week ago I did my first cw only pota activation and its exhilarating. I did my second yesterday sat on the beach. You gave me the drive to learn something new and make this hobby fun again. Thank you so much.

I lost my mom to cancer back in August. I couldn't listen to music. I could listen to CW, and so that's all I did in the car on the way back and forth from my house to my parent's during those last few weeks. It was brutal. Sometimes I would go to do an activation and find that I just wanted to walk in the woods, so that's what I did - and it was essential. You're on the right path, even when you think you aren't. These KH-1 contacts are the kind that I originally thought the KH-1 could never do --- minimal antenna, and operating as a hunter rather than an activator. Impressive.

So sorry to hear about your mom, Thomas. It's tough but it gets better with time, although slowly. My dad's gone but mom remains. My sincerest sympathies to you and the entire family.
As for the "walk in the woods", you did great as did Hazel! We have about 6-8" here in SW Michigan and I'm inside! Tonight/tomorrow forecast is freezing rain and sleet, so maybe another day or three eating canned soup and frozen microwave dinners here.

When hunting POTA there’s no need to log for participation as it’s the responsibility of the activator to upload their logs to the program. If a station log is wanted for record keeping, then in this situation he can pull it off the video after the fact. Also the KH-1 has an option to decode and record all the CW sent, this might be an option to process logs after the operating session concludes.
