    Awesome t-shirt! I do enjoy how meticulous you are with these FW kits, I used to think of the building part of more of a necessity to get to painting but you've really made me embrace the construction element :)

      +Harris Richards Thanks and you are most welcome. I really enjoy the building challenge of these models and getting them to look like the sculptor intended them to be. From a painting point a view it's like properly preparing a canvas for painting, why paint a masterpiece on a poorly prepared base? Thanks for watching :)

      Harris Richards haha it is funny you should say that I was just thinking how much I used to hate the obstacle of model clean up and construction, I mean detest. Now I settle myself down and get right in about it. All thanks to the Cheesester himself.

      Did you put pins in the wing attachments ?

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cedars Cheers mate! I saw a unique opportunity with this kit so decided to grab it with my talons.
      Yes, I put a pair of pins into the wing-hull attachment. This was for two reasons, firstly the fit wasn't as affirmative as the wing - nacelle mount so I used the pins to get accurate and consistent pinning. Secondly, because the fit wasn't super-snug I wanted to reinforce the mounting because it carries a lot of weight; I also used a two part epoxy to glue the core of the join.
      Thanks for watching :)

      leakycheese when you use epoxy, do you clamp the joint while the epoxy sets up? Or do you use superglue around the edges to hold the joint while the epoxy in the middle sets? My Vulture wants to know.

      Mikey R I do the latter, if you watch from 10:28 you can see me doing this technique. You can let your Vulture know 😉

    Fine work! I love the design of the orion. It is so aesthetically pleasing especially compared to the flying box hulls of the space marines.

      +mikael Agreed 100%! For someone who originally came from an aviation modelling background that more rounded look of the Orion really ticks the boxes.
      Thanks for watching :)

    Cool build. You got anything lined up to come next or are you concentrating on the mammoth task of painting all that detail for now?

      +D ST Well let's check the build list: I have a dreadnought, Sisters of Silence squad, Thunderhawk Gunship, Warlord Titan and a surprise from Australia coming soon 😮
      I think I'm built out for the moment I'll start painting the golden bird next 😊
      Thanks for watching :)

      Mikey R It kept me going. I kept the peanuts out of shot so I didn't look greedy. Thanks for watching :)

      leakycheese your willpower is stronger than mine. The whole pack would be gone in the time it took to be carried between the cupboard and the table at Mikey Towers.

      MrTrilbe Yes, I did magnetise the nose turrets in the end because I wanted a good fit and was concerned they might get resin droop after a while. The included pins looked a bit iffy in that regard to be honest. Now, I want to have a jammy dodger! Thanks for watching :)

    What type of glue did you use for this? Anything special because its so heavy?

    • @PhatYeti
      @PhatYeti 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also see 2 types of glus

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the wings I used 2 two part epoxy to glue the core pinned section and superglue for the outer rim.
      This approach takes advantage of the properties of the two adhesives: superglue's instant bond and epoxy's strength.

    This is strange! I have alerts switched on for your channel and have been wondering why you haven't been doing much recently and it turns out you have been but for some reason I haven't been getting any alerts! I only noticed when I saw one of your uploads in the suggested/up next videos that I didn't recognise! I have switched them off and back on again hope this sorts it.
    On the bright side I have a few videos to catch up on!
    Cheers matey.
